  1. I use two F3s...and very good HD cameras they are. I've also looked into the 444 upgrade but come to a dead end, a shame as there must be hundreds of them about somewhere gathering dust. Does anyone know a Sony tech that might know the whereabouts of any?
  2. It's a push pull zoom too so even if it were parfocal they are more difficult to zoom in/out without altering the focus accidentally with your hand. Seems to focus all the way through the ranges ok though.
  3. Interesting Dom, the reason I'm asking this is because I am using a stills zoom on a Sony F3 including using lens adapters...the whole thing could be a recipe for disaster! Having said that I haven't really come across any softness as yet , so perhaps the collimation just so happens to be correct . Although considering it's a stills zoom ... vivitar series 1with pentax mount, connected to a pentax/EOS converter mount ...then to a third party EOS/sony F3 mount I'm amazed.
  4. If the flange distance is out on a camera a prime lens will over focus or under focus at either end of the scales ( close up or infinity )...is this the same with a zoom lens, or are there also problems at different zoom positions?
  5. Useful site... http://www.yeggi.com/q/rear+lens+cap/?s=tt
  6. Hi, are you based in the usa or europe? Best, Rob spence
  7. I have an old Gitzo tripod , which is steady as a rock and more easily baggable than my ronford legs. Are there any flat base video heads ( 3/8th fitting) with built in levelling that would suit?
  8. I'm just teaching myself Speedgrade cs6 and doing well so far...except when I render out, the grading that I have done on the timeline is not coming out on the rendered footage. I'm obviously missing some setting. Any ideas?
  9. I have some cineform raw files from an SI2K camera and need to edit in fcp7 with Lut Buddy. Lut Buddy cant use the .look Luts that come with the cineform files. Any ideas of any Luts that are appropriate to use in this situation-
  10. Hello, I have some SI2K cineform raw files which I have to use in in FCP7 ( which has LUT buddy ). Does anyone know of a LUT that suits cineform raw using LUT buddy as the original .look LUTS don't work in LUT buddy. Many thanks.
  11. Thanks Phil that's a kind offer. Unfortunately I think it boils down to A. Getting a 444 upgrade....or B. an Odessey (type) dual-link recorder. Both options involve more cash!
  12. Hi Mark, I use the Samurai blade at the moment...which has the upgrade so you get s-log 2 and 3 viewing capabilities ... but not S-log itself (unfortunately). I use this as an evf and have adapted a SmallHD loupe to fit it. It works well for HD...but the viewing for Slog is a bit of an issue...plus the slo-mo, of course. Your combo sounds a very useful solution. What I'd really like though is a 5inch version of the Odyssey so I can use it as an evf too , like I use my Blade...is thee such a thing?
  13. Thanks for the info Mark....it adds another string to the bow. I'll have to rent an Odyssey for the project...talking of the 444 upgrade do you know if it allows you to use a viewing LUT when using s-log and, if so, does that need to use dual link?
  14. Hi Tyler, Thanks for the response. I have the blade (HDSDI) for 1080p 422 capture and that works fine...but I heard that you could capture 1080p at 60fps externally through using a dual link recorder. (rather than 720p). Not so then.
  15. I need to do some full res slo-mo on my Sony F3. Can anyone recommend a dual link recorder to do this? TIA
  16. 20mm nikon seems to be the same as todays version. http://www.kenrockwell.com/nikon/20af.htm
  17. That's the one....wow, they're still making it? I've seen them on ebay for about £200 to £300 (and upwards)...they are fairly sought after.
  18. The ACL isn't as ergonomic as the Aaton cameras, and is a bit front heavy. Why not mount the camera on a rail rig...dslr style and use handlebars. Or this looks useable. http://www.klopfenstein.net/public/Uploads/clemens/news/eclair/IMG_8605.jpg
  19. I've used the 20m f2.8 on HD and would use it again.
  20. Just got this reply from atomos. Atomos Support APAC Hi Rob, I would suggest you use the Slog2 setting. Slog and Slog2 have the same shape curve, Slog is just one stop brighter.
  21. Hi, I've just upgraded the Samurai Blade firmware to vers 5.20 which adds viewing LUTs to various log inputs. Trouble is the Sony options are S-log 2 and 3. My F3 only has S-log...any ideas/opinions?
  22. Surely modifying lenses costs a fortune?
  23. This could be useful for you for example http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-SUPER-16-ANGENIEUX-ZOOM-17-5-70MM-LENS-AATON-MOUNT-BMPCC-MAGIC-MOVIE-CAMERA-/281891496734?hash=item41a20ae31e:g:sEkAAOSwZ1lWeJOT
