  1. Gang, does anyone have weekend Contact info for CINELAB in MA? Their phone goes to weekend VM and there is no response to my emails. I sent my film to them yesterday via USPS, insured and at an amount that requires the package to be handed to a person. But the Postal delivery person left it "on porch" today according to delivery information. Needless to say, I am in an absolute complete panic here. My project, which cost me every penny that I have to my name, will be toast if the box is stolen or destroyed by the elements. WTF!!!!! I had it shipped priority, so it should have arrived on Monday, G*d d@mmit. I cannot believe my insane misfortune. This is the biggest project of my life and at the moment is at risk of being completely destroyed.

  4. 500T is going to be grainy, no matter what you do. I chose it for that reason when I shot a short film that involed nudity and  masturbation. I didn't want it to look like a porno. I'm in pre-production on a project that will be shot on Super8 and we are shooting almost exclusively on Vision2 200T, which will be converted to B&W in post. The few exterior shots will be photographed on 50D and we do have some shots to nail in the NYC Subway system, and for those we are using 500T.
  5. How many feet away from the actor was the camera? I am not hearing any camera noise, which is a surprise. I would very much like to see the original color. Scratch comes in after a minute and is pretty obvious. AND!... https://vimeo.com/65196781 You really need to do a video on this.
  6. I'm all set at this point. I am working out a deal with Duall for their entire kit. I have my Nikon R10 and quite possibly a Leicina Special on lone (which would excite me more than anything else). Thanks to all. And no more fighting. It's boring.
  7. Excuse me, Mr. Know It All. I am not asking for the camera to be lent out by Pro8 (who can suck my balls because they are crooks) or the fine folks at Logmar (who are wonderful). We would GLADLY rent. But no one has it to rent. By the way, one VERY exceptional member here has offered the use of his Leicina Special. To that gent, I say YOU ARE THE MAN!
  8. We are likely renting the crystal synced C-Mount 4008 for our production for approximately 3 days. A full week if we can muster the funds.
  9. I'm seeking a Crystal synced Super8 camera (with follow focus) for two days of shooting in late September (NYC area). Duall Camera has sold their crystal synced R10 and Canon 1014 XL-S. Each had a follow focus package. They do have what appears to be a Beaulieu S2008 with a pretty good package, but I have no experience with that camera. It's OLD. 1965, I believe. Scroll down to the bottom of the Super8 rental cameras... http://duallcamera.com/catalog/Super8mm_Cameras.shtml I'm curious what kind of images it can produce. Century 1.9mm, Angenieux 5.9mm, Cooke 9-50mm T2.5 with lens support, 4x4 Matte-Box, Follow Focus, 5 filters, Tripod, Cable Release, Shoulder SupportHas anyone any experience with the S2008?
  10. Way ahead of you. I contacted them, but it's just not to be. :(
  11. I really need a crystal synced Super8 camera that also has a FOLLOW FOCUS. Now that is a tough one, I know. Duall in NYC used to have a sync sound R10 as well as a 1014 XL-S, both with mate boxes and follow focus. But they sold them. :(
  12. I asked but he did not say. I am sure he has his reasons. But what I would give to shoot with that bad boy.
  13. The one guy close to us who has a Logmar has it for sale :( However a member of this fine forum has PM'd me about his Leicina Special so we might be able to work something out. It would be spectacular to use it for all the slow and fast-motion photography. We are still hoping to have use of a crystal synced Super8 camera for our dialog scenes. Duall in NYC used to have a Canon 1014 XL-S that was CS but it's no longer listed. They have a CS'd 814 but the optics onthat are just too damn soft. I have never been comfortable with the Beaulieus but they do have a CS'd 7008S for rent. Not really sure if I want to go that route. All that being said crystal sync is not absolutely necessary. We'd head and tail slate and just have to spend more time keeping the sound in sync throughout. It's a bitch, but I have done it before.
  14. Right, 25fps for the Leicina. We would use the Nikon R10 for sync sound shots. But there are a great deal of shots that are MOS and a bit, shall we say, psychedelic. Shooting at 25fps and transferring at 24fps would add a bit of strangeness to the visuals.
  15. As I mentioned in the Super8 thread, I have a long dreamed of project in the works: A feature that will be partially shot on Super8 film. We are shooting all of the 8mm scenes first and will edit and then see where we are at. Never mind the fact that prices for stock have gone up by 50% or more in the last 18 months  there is also the issue of not receiving responses from the labs or scanning facilities I have contacted. I don't want to be rude and mention which ones, but it seems like maybe some just don't care about 8mm at this point because I am receiving replies to my emails inquiries. That would not have happened 2 or 3 years ago. Some of these places are big names and well known here. Maybe I'm just too small-time for them to bother? We intend to shoot on Tri-X, Vision3 200T and a little bit of 50D. Anywhere from 15 to 24 rolls, depending upon how well (or poorly) we do. 24fps of course. Most MOS. There are two sequences with sync sound. The most likely camera used is a Nikon R10, though I am trying to find someone with a Leicina Special or the new Logmar in the NYC area. I am in the process of acquiring an R10 right now and would have to shoot one or two test rolls. 1080p would be the minimum for scanning for the project and frankly 2K might be smarter since I really want to retain that all important film grain. That is so important. I don't want it to turn to mush. We are shooting in the NYC area late September and hope to finish no later than October 5. I would need some immediate turnaround since I have to leave for China on October 18. Getting everything in place ahead of time is important, not just for me but I am sure for whatever lab and scanning house we use. That's the situation. We have an insanely limited budget and certain people involved are trying to get me to switch to shooting this stuff digitally, but it's imperative to me that these portions of the film be shot on film. I do not want to shoot this stuff with a digital camera. The rest of the feature will be digitally captured so dammit, this material which is designed for 8mm needs to be shot on 8mm. But if I can't get answers to my questions or find a place willing to work with me... I will be forced to go digital. :( I'm all ears. Thanks.
  16. Gents, as I announced a couple weeks back, I am working on a big dream project (big for me) and want to shoot on Super8. Of course, I sold all my cameras and equipment not long ago because I thought I was OUT for good. Whoops. :( Right now I am wondering if anyone near NYC has the new Logmar camera (plus a good lens) or perhaps the Leicina Special (plus a good lens) or even a tip top Nikon R10? I would love to work something out for use of any of the above cameras or perhaps a Logmar or Leicina owner wants to collaborate on a feature? I was going to be working with someone on this but his schedule just grew complicated and so I am kind of scrambling here. eBay was chock full of Nikon R10's all year and all went dirt cheap ($225 to $325). Naturally there is now NOTHING! I have been checking daily for two weeks. Anyway, you can email me at matt@1783pictures.com Thanks!
  17. Selling the Logmar?!?!?!?! But you just got it? Man alive, I'd love to talk about renting it from you for my 8mm film project.
  18. The R10 is a beast. It earned my trust over every other camera I used. How it could stay so sharp at ridiculously low light is beyond me. The Logmar would come in handy for two scenes we are shooting with sync sound. We're likely going to use a beaulieu 4008 for those scenes, but way back and zoomed in so the camera noise isn't picked up.
