  1. Hello, we have a small studio 5mx6m (16ftx20ft). We mostly use it for news and for talkshows. We would like to change our fresnel lights to cold lighting (led or simillar) . Do someone have some suggestions? I think that we need lights that are 1k equialent. Thanks !!
  2. Thank you James.Software based conversion didn't gave us best results so we took it to a post house.
  3. First of all I would like to thank to all of you and to apology for my pure English. Our short movie is accepted to a festival in US and we have to deliver it as HDCam 1080/59.94i. The movie has been shot with Sony Z1 cineframe 25. What is the best way to get HDCam 1080/59.94i from such footage? The movie was edited with Premiere Pro but we also have Avid and FCP (in a case that we have to make conversions) Thank You !!!
  4. Thanx Edgar, My mistake, thought that he was interested in the low light with 7d, just later figured that it was misunderstanding. Cheers
  5. Of course, the footage isn't black light effect but it can give you some picture about blacks and noise on 7d.
  6. Hi, I have some black light expirence with 7d. First of all you must to change all settings to manual (as you know) and to disable all auto cerrection settings (peripheral illum correct, Auto lighting optimizer, higlite tone priority, long exp. noise reduction, iso noise reduction). I been shoting at ISO 800 and f 2.8. If you are hendheld it's gonna be not so easy to keep focuses so be ready for more takes. Images here are a bit darker due to compresion to JPG, in the orginal footage I have much more details in the dark. Lot of cinematographers suggesting to change picture style as well and to lower contrast (you'll get one stop more ) and sharpnes. There are some nice custom pic gamma profiles which you can download to your camera. http://www.cinema5d.com/viewtopic.php?f=64&p=88923 http://www.cinema5d.com/viewtopic.php?f=64&t=7104 http://marvelsfilm.wordpress.com/2009/10/19/canon-7d-picture-style-with-cine-gamma-s-curve-free-download/ In this scene I used two 650W fresnel lights (with dimmers and difusers) , One as a key light and another as backlight. We also used some practicals and bulbs on the bar. In my opinion the key light was to hard (you see spots on his face), at the begining it was ok but then the singer start sweating and it changed a lot. Hope that it helps a bit.
  7. Hi all, I been thinking to buy a light meter but don't know which one to choose. Since it's tool that I hope to use for the rest of my working life (hopefully) I would like to get something good. Right now my choices are limited to Spectra IV or Sekonic L-758C. I read that the Spectra is very accurate but advantage of the Sekonic is that have spot meter (which is not to accurate as I understand) and also it's possible to enter dynamic range of specific camera. The question is does it worth to pay 250-300$ more for those extra features? Thank you :)
  8. Brian, Thank you so much for the answer, that was exactly what I was afraid of. We are filming the event and after your answer I'm going to change the concept and hope that lighting technicians from the music hall will be ready to help us. Thanks again, it helped a lot. Leon
  9. I would like to get some useful advices for lighting of interview. It’s going to be a kind of Q&A placed on the stage of a huge music hole in front of the audience. We are going to shot 3 people (one of them is interviewing). I been thinking to use 1K Arri Fresnel for key light , 2 x 650 watt Arri Fresnels for backlights , and 1 x 300 watt Arri (to have it just in case for the background). “The problem” is that the light needs to be not close to them and the stage is huge. I will also have some optional 800w quartz oranges but been thinking to use them as the bounce to the audience. Not sure that will have soft box but will have gels and dimmers for sure. Any suggestion will help a lot ! Thnx. Leon
