  1. I recently used a ground glass over the film gate to check the focusing of two Konvas 2m's and found the viewfinder and film gate are slightly out of sync with one another on both cameras when focusing on a stationary subject. Do they need calibrated or is there a reason for this?
  2. Someone has offered me a 17EP-16APK motor, can I remove the xlr plug and connect this motor direct to a 12v battery?
  3. It's ok I missed it on one of the replies, 6v 10amp battery
  4. Eureka! I took the battery box apart and did some soldering (some of the connections were broke) and now it works, just need a battery now. I see 12v battery shouldn't be used so I'll get a 6v insted any idea of how many amps?
  5. Hi Freya, Yes I found the motor you linked, I was considering buying it. The camera is great but the motor is becoming a pain. I'm really wanting to shoot some test film but at the moment it's just sitting there.
  6. Does the Konvas 25M-8M rheostat-based motor require the battery box or can it be connected direct to a battery?
  7. Is there anyway of using the motor without the battery box and use something to vary the current to the motor like a lighting dimmer switch?
  8. Hi, It has 15EPSS motor, I'll try and send some picture tomorrow. Many thanks

    Konvas Trouble

I've just bough a Konvas M2 kit but didn't realize the cameras shutter speeds are regulated by the battery box, odd design? The battery box is the only thing thats pretty worn out and basically dead. Is there anyway around this?

    Arri IIa

I'm glad I came across this info regarding the Arri II's. I bought a Arri IIa and the seller didn't know much about it but hinted at it might have been up graded at some point. Mine has the later perforated or vented disc on the cam. I find the camera so maneuverable and easy to use. I recently considered selling it, but now I have some lenses and accessories for it I'm going to keep it.
  11. Hi, Has anyone or does anyone know if I can adopt an Eclair bayont lens to fit a Arriflex standard mount?
  12. Many thanks, he also has a Carl Zeiss Sonnar 50mm f1.5 in Arri standard mounts do you know if this will too.
  13. A shop in the UK is selling a Schneider 28mm f2 xenon lens in standard Arri mount. I contacted the shop and they said it may cover 35mm, but they're unsure. Did Arri/Schneider make a 16mm version or was there only the 35mm version. Looking at the picture they sent me, it's definatly an Arri cine lens not some lens conversion of a 35mm still photography lens.
  14. I have one more question, just to be sure about my framing. I suspect it's the same as my 16bl but I'm going to ask anyway. When I compose a shot am I using the framing lines with the round edges in the centre of the ground glass or the whole viewing frame of the ground glass?
  15. Is it only me that finds it funny that people are dressing up Dslrs to look like 'proper' motion picture cameras? I've seen people buying regular Dslr's and then trying their very best to fit movie lenses on them when Dslrs have loads of lenses to choose from with their own dedicated mount, and then to top it off fitting a massive matte box on the front to make it look like a proper motion picture camera.
  16. Hi, I've got an Arriflex 2a in nice working order, but no lenses. I've tried ebay with no luck, has anyone got any lenses for sale or even better donate any to a budding indi film maker who's wanting to switch to 35mm. I started in 16mm, but 16mm just doesn't do it for me. I know that if my budget's tight 16mm is ideally suited, but the size of the neg just annoyes me. Before this I was a still photographer and always used medium and large format film for it's quality, but when I see 16mm it reminds me of 110 film and I certainly would never use that for a shoot.
  17. Thanks to everyone, I don't mind them, just curious as to why they're there. My Arri 16bl hasn't got them, but I find the bl's eye shutter a pain. So can I leave the 2a's viewfinder uncovered without having to worry about stray light effecting the film, even in strong sunlight?
  18. Hi, I have a Arriflex 2A and when looking through the viewfinder there are vertical lines and when looking in the lens mount theres an optical box type thing which produces the lines. I was just wondering what was the purpose of this?
  19. Thanks, I've got an Arri 2b sitting around with no lenses I might sell it and get a Konvas with lenses. Thay look well made and cheap too.
  20. Does anyone know if the KONVAS 1KCP lenses fit a standard Arriflex mount like a Arri 2b as they look very similar.
