  1. Hello everyone! I'm a Local 600 member with experience as a Jib Operator/Technican. I'm looking to move over to the telescoping crane market and I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on the traditional path to becoming a telescoping crane technician. Below is a link to my resume, please feel free to reach out. Thank you in advance for any help or recommendations. 2. Hello, and thank you for viewing our post. We have a custom built X8 Heavy Lift Drone and a Teradek Bolt Pro 2000 for sale, both of which are in pristine condition and have only been flown twice for testing purposes. Soon after purchasing our drone we decided to focus our efforts in the telescoping crane market and no longer have any use for the drone. The package has a DJI A2 Flight control system, custom retractable landing gear and a brushless 3-axis gimbal, all of which are controlled by two Futaba RC controllers. The drones fuselage is capable of hauling 35 lbs and the gimbal has a max payload of 13 lbs. The gimbal is currently being upgraded from an 8-bit to a 32-bit system for your benefit ($500 upgrade). The frame is comprised of high quality aluminum and carbon fiber to reduce gross fuselage weight to ultimately maximize its heavy lift and flight duration capabilities. The package also includes a brand new Toshiba laptop for programming the A2 system and gimbal. Below is a list of what the package includes, please feel free to contact us with questions regarding pricing and details. The drone and teradek can be purchased separately if you so desire. 7. Hello everyone, I am a 2nd AC based out of New York looking to join Local 600. I am a little confused as to how to start off and get myself into the IER. I also have a few other related questions of things I'm trying to better understand. If I'm not on the IER does the union help me get work as a member that's not on the IER? How much are the upfront dues to join as a 2nd AC? And what is the annual dues and what's the billing cycle like? Is there any way I could shadow a union shoot specifically in the camera department through 600? Is it difficult to meet the 400 hours/12 months requirement for health benefits when you start out? If so how long was your struggle? Was there anything like attending networking events that helped you establish yourself in the union world as an AC? If so what were they? Any tips in specific about reaching out to ACs or DPs I'm trying to work with? I am a mature, well organized and dependable professional who is 21 years old and chasing a true dream. I don't wish to be a DP, my heart lies in being an AC. My end goal is to 1st but I am not one of those 2nds that wants to prematurely try and move up to 1st'ing. My hopes with this thread are that I can gain some clarity on a few questions and maybe even some contacts that can help me get my foot in the door as a 600 AC. Thank you to those who respond, any help or wisdom is greatly appreciated. Joe Fugallo Joefugallo@gmail.com
  8. You could use a tungsten light and put it on a flicker master and use color correction gels to get the look you want.
  9. Okay thank you very much Vincent! I had a feeling that was the case but I just wanted some supporting feedback
  10. Hello, I am shooting a dubstep music video and I plan on having a majority of my lights (Source fours) to be on flicker masters and dimmers and I am shooting on a RED one build 30 (not the MX sensor). I was wondering if anyone has any advice regarding rolling shutter with the Red camera's CMOS sensor. I don't know how fast I can flash the lights without getting rolling shutter artifacts in my image. Just wondering if there is anyone out there that could give any incite. Thank you for reading and any feedback or advice would be greatly appreciated! -Joe
  11. Hey I appreciate all the advice, and I'm not looking to get job protection through certifications or training, I would like to be able to do complex rigs such as large scale flyswatters on condors and stuff of that nature.
  12. Hahaha yeah I got the grip test on my first shoot, I learned the grip test trick and to never grab or pass a C-stand with your fingers under the long arm hahaha
  13. Thank you Toby and Robert, I appreciate the response and the advice I will definitely look into the local 80 workshops and interning as a grip or swing. I work on the grip and gaff team a lot on student 16 and 35mm features at my college currently but I will look into more larger scale shoots.
  14. What about work shops or training? aside from film school
  15. Hello, I am currently a film student at Full Sail University and I was wondering what certifications, training, books,or workshops would one take if they were looking to be a sufficiently skilled and knowledgeable grip on set. i.e. rig a flyswatter, condor rigging or operation or safety courses that would be good to have under your belt. Thanks for you're time and I sincerely appreciate any advice or response! -Joe
  16. Thanks Hal! I really like source four's for their cut-ability and the overall versatility of the light, I will look into pricing out a source four package
  17. I just want to say thanks to everyone who replied! I really appreciate the advice and consideration and Raj I really appreciate the tips I'll try to take them into practice.
  18. Well thanks for responding and I work as a grip right now and I completely agree with the apple box cart. My plans were for a c-stand cart,4X4 open frame/gel frame cart, (4)tweenies, (2) nook lights (6) blondes, (6) red heads (4)1K softs, (4)2K zip softs, (6)1K baby's (Mole Richardson) (6) 2K BJ's, (20) Baby Stands, (6) junior stands and a chest to store all the duck bills, gripheads, cardalinis, maffer clamps, pipe clamps, broken arms, flex arms, adapters like butt plugs(junior to baby) and nail-on's (junior and baby studs), an apple box cart with five of every size apple box.
  19. I am a film student who is currently studying at Full Sail University and when I graduate I am planning on moving back to New York and starting a grip truck rental company. Does anyone have an idea on what gear I should buy to please my customers and impress them at the same time? I would appreciate any opinions or answers Thanks for your time! -Joe
  20. Hey, I'm originally from New York but I moved to Florida to pursue my educational career at Full Sail University in film. My passion is cinematography and I will be graduating in march of 2012 and following graduation I will be moving back to New York. I would definitely be interested in meeting and possibly collaborating on some stuff. Thanks for the post -Joe Fugallo
  21. I really like your work, the colors and dolly moves were terrific as well as the cinematography. What kind of dolly or slider did you use for the trucking and dolly moves?
  22. I just bought this camera and I personally love it, the microphone on it has a little bit of handling noise if you are using it hand held. But I purchased an H4N that I record external audio with and shoot with sync sound. the video quality is honestly amazing, its not a 5D but it is definitely a good image.
