Hello folks,
In August, I plan on attending Tanglewood's annual "Film Night" concert, which features music by composer John Williams and the Boston Pops. The show is always fantastic and, this year, I'd like to record some of it to make a short compilation.
The only issue I foresee is the low light. The concert is held outside and only the stage is well lit. I use a Canon Vixia HF20; while I'm relatively satisfied with the way it records HD video, I'm quite disappointed with the way it records low light scenes. (If you'd like to see what I mean, you can forward to 1:30 in this early video I created with the camera.)
I was wondering if any of you would be able to offer me some advice on what I should do with this situation. I've contemplated adjusting the aperture settings of the camera, but I'm not sure how it's going to look, overall. Perhaps I could do that and do some clever tinkering in post? I'm not sure. Mainly, I'd like to avoid that fuzzy, somewhat distorted quality that occurs when I record in low light.
Any advice would be much appreciated.
Best,
Brandon
