  1. The Apple Intermediate Codec and ProRes are video codecs designed to be an intermediate format in an AVCHD workflow. Both features high performance and quality, being less processor intensive to work with than other editing formats. Apple Intermediate Codec (AIC) is recommended for use with all AVCHD workflows in iMovie and Final Cut Express (FCE). And ProRes is recommended for use with all AVCHD workflows in FCP. So the best way for preserving quality is to convert MTS to AIC for iMovie or Convert MTS to ProRes for FCP. I search Convert MTS to ProRes/AIC, and find Aunsoft Final Mate for Mac. http://www.aunsoft.com/final-mate-mac/
