  1. Hi Peter, It's in Perth, Australia Regards,
  2. I totally agree with Matt that its a dp and directors vision, but still find that certain aspect ratios are more pleasing to the eye in certain viewing mediums. Like to me personally 1.33 is of puting.
  3. I really dislike 4:3 or anything similar, this is something I feel particularly strong about the only time I think it works is with IMAX 70mm, 1.87 is great for home viewing, and 2.35/39 is best for cinema experience or even on bluray, 4:3 was good for VHS.
  4. That was a direct quote from the article, no need for your sassiness mate.
  5. Im so happy someone else has noticed this, in Australia I swear every single commercial expect for the low budget ones has this flat look to it, I hate it, Its terrible.
  6. I agree with Alan, Zoho seems pretty good
  7. I'm not sure if you realize that the audience need to be sitting in the first 4 rows to actually notice the resolution of 4k, I sat in the very front of the cinema for a 2k projection of Lawrence of Arabia and it was really good even that close on clear section if you really stared could you notice the really small pixels, and keep in mind that wasn't even 4k. I think 8k would be nice but overkill. IMAX is 2x2k projectors atm but I think there starting to upgrade to 4k or will be asap. Somehow it did look allot better than standard cinemas.
  8. Until now I had never heard of a EK print or also know as a Showprint. What I really want to know is which film stock do they usually use for that, and any other lab info on it. I wonder if they make 70mm prints not to go on a resolution thing but its well known that 70mm looks amazing around 4K res (not talking about negative res), what would a 70mm EK print look like? or even a 35mm(1k) would that look like 2-3k haha
  9. He's right this has been already mentioned the only thing really interesting is the RED ONE but its so old now (in technology years ;p ) the scarlet with the bear basics (SSD reader) is still 10K that's the one that should come down to 6K. If you can afford a 20K EPIC + MINIMUM 10K worth of accessories + 10K lens I think they can afford a 50K epic so who really cares. What I'm Looking forward to a good 4K camera for under 4K.
  10. “Argo” was shot on regular film. The frames were then cut in half and blown up by 200% to increase their graininess. A interesting thing todo in a DI world. just thought i'd share. http://www.forafewmoviesmore.com/film-review/argo-film-review/
  11. Hi looking for about 100 or 200ft or 65mm Kodak vision 3 film. thanks
  12. Hi looking for about 100 or 200ft or 65mm Kodak vision 3 film. thanks
  13. I already have my ECN2 lab running and working fine, I just would like to know when you do a cross process of 100D to ECN2, what times would you use because I don't think that the regular three minuets would apply? I cant seem to find the times anywhere
  14. Thanks guys I think that's probably the problem, not to rant on Kodak but thanks for the heads up and the easy to read product label. So I have the Kit starter Ill need 1x20lt Part A and 2x5lt Part B aswell?
  15. Hi Charles I did the test the image shows the results below, I've noticed the second water touch's the film your able to scrap of the emulsion is that normal and if so how do you stop that.
  16. Hi guys, my ECN-2 chemicals arrived from Kodak yesterday. I got all the Chemicals except the Prebath becuase I can use home chems to remove the remjet backing after or before the dev. Im using it for purely experimental reasons in a SLR not a movie camera. Okay so ive tried a few test devs and nothing comes up. Can some one please check if my chemicals are at the right amounts etc. Im using a a Paterson tank only using 300ml (333ml because of equations not too good with my maths ideally need it for 300ml) of liquid for one roll at a time. PROCEDURE: - KODAK DEV 5lT (I use 15ml + 315ml water @41c degrees- 3.00mins) - KODAK STOP 5lT (I use 15ml + 315ml water @ 30c degrees 0.30sec) - WATER 0.30 secs -(skipping the bleach saving it, just want to get images first then can do the bleach) - KODAK FIX 20lT (I use 100ml + 315ml water @ 30c degrees 2.00mins) - then check negatives to get the following: Negatives become clear and orange like normal as if done properly but Missing Pictures, NO Edgecode, numbers or barcodes and I can scratch of the what I believe to be the emulsion to make it clear. Also when I look at it most the remjet is missing and has come off, when I did bw test most of it was still there. Really need some advice as too why this isn't working.
  17. Hi Chris, whats your company called do you guys have a website?
  18. Interesting stuff, yes indeed it looks like shooting 35mm film in Australia is very hard now todo say compared to in the States. Thanks everyone.
  19. Hi guys a heads up for folks in Australia, I spoke with Kodak the other week, the National manager said that Village roadshow will be closing there lab in 6 months so that means the only other one will be Deluxe (that I know of) and today I was notified that Kodak is deleting there ECN-2 Chemicals Line as Deluxe makes there own chems. Just thought I'd let people know.
  20. Hi Patrick, I just use baking soda from the shops, I agitate it for the first min then for 10 secs every minute after. You can do stand developments to really help mask any grain if you like. I'll be doing ecn-2 devs in a few weeks and once i get that down i'll make a post for that as well.
  21. Anyone disturbed by the fact Kodak is selling there film department,(unsure if that's Vision 3 as well) How does that even work a film company stops making film, that should work out well. Imagine buying Kodak-ILFORD Vision 4 or something haha. http://www.wdam.com/story/19373615/kodak-to-sell-famous-film-division
  22. Can someone explain what all the burn-ins mean on the pictures below, They change on every film and lab. I assume the EN is for Kodak Keycode and the numbers following but what are the numbers above, and DR and VR. And the on the left I guess it's like a running timecode but of what the telecine machine or... And then the older films don't even have any of that, they just have timecode and I think frame counters but not to sure. apologies for the lengthy post.
  23. It feels like it at times doesn't it. Such a odd thing to happen.
  24. Terrible news to hear indeed. All the best to his loved ones. RIP
