So I am renting a s16 and I have my test reel planned out and ready to shot, I was wondering if anybody had any additional things, that may be a little out of the norm, that you always do when test shooting. And/or any must do's, as I may have looked over some things with the fast pace I have been going at lately. I would just like a checklist from the professionals, so that this intermediate can one day join your ranks!!! As always, thanks.
  2. Does any body have any suggestions as to a tripod and fluid head comparable to that one of the X15, in a similar price range (near about $5,000). Needs to hold about 30-40 pounds, etc.

  5. If you are purchasing a substantial amount of equipment from AbelCine or Visual Products or another large dealer, is it uncustomary to bargain with them? Are the prices pretty much set in stone?   6. Can someone explain to me the process that negative stocks go through. I have only shot on reversals, and would like to step it up to negative stocks. I am wondering about the price difference between the two after developing aand transferring. I am a little unclear as to the phases that the film goes through. Shoot>develop>telecine? or work print? Can they reverse the image in telelcine stage, does it mess up the colors? What exactly is a work print, and any other stages I am surely missing? Thanks.

  12. Is it the French or German motor model that you have for your SR-II? Also, thanks to all for your replies.
  13. I've been looking at S16mm cameras, and among their descriptions is a PL mount. What does PL mean, what is it good for etc....? My cinematography lingo is not as savvy as many of you, so if there is a simple way of you eplaining this I would greatly appreciate it. On a side note: I think this site is great and what all of you do is great, I have never found another place that has been so condusive in helping beginning or aspiring DPs and filmmakers. Thank you all.
