  1. From the international records, the current ORWO.Family, ORWO.studio, orwo.shop, under Jake Seal, whatever they go by, and whichever part of their company bought FilmoTec, manufacturers of ORWO film, are in "Involuntary Solvency", Chapter 11... no one is speaking highly of their business tactics, and there is no one at the factory in Germany, so not sure how they are manufacturing film, but they may be able to pull off the color film... that said, it's not an easy task... ferrania is a perfect example, and everyone else before them... Its a shame. that said, if they fail, someone will step in... it's too valuable to let die. * Search this, them, he, yourself if so inclined... its pretty messy.
  2. Hi Robert Lewis, My understanding and conversations with ORWO North America here in the US and FilmoTec in Germany is that the issues with the Arri SR2 or Aaton cameras and ORWO film has been resolved. You need to use new ORWO film. Both groups told me it was a problem with the dimentions of the “free channel” in both cameras. They included this in an email. The perforation was always short pitch 2994. And sent data sheets... Please have a look into our data sheets: http://www.filmotec.de/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/V-I-TI-UN54-e.pdf http://www.filmotec.de/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/V-I-TI-N74plus-e.pdf & here for more info... http://www.orwona.com/film-specifications/ Thought I would share b/c so far ORWO has been super helpful to me. good luck
  3. Definitely hit up the ORWO N.A, folks, they cut me a deal on a large order too. www.orwona.com. i was short too and they helped me out, plus, the stock was stellar. good luck
  4. Give em a break... small operation and you are in where? sydney? austrialia? try ordering from germany...oh yeah you cant. something doesent sound right though the guy has been pretty cool with everyone else i know... did you try purchasing on the site?
  5. Hi... the ORWO UN54 (Universal Negative)can be processed in a reversal method... check out the specs here ORWO UN54 Reversal Process It is common... in Europe i guess
  6. For all those interested I spoke with ORWOna about this and it was mentioned that the film sold at the Millennium "Fire Sale" was priced below cost for a quick sale, hence "Fire Sale", a percentage of the sale went in support of Millennium Film Workshop a non-profit film company out of NYC. Which everyone should know and support... http://www.millenniumfilm.org/ I wish the prices were that low, but not the case...regardless ORWONA was cool and I know they will support me with my projects in the future...so support them too. www.orwona.com Danke
  7. Eastman might be the big dog, but they kinda suck...for years, they have been nasty in distribution and working with buyers. I would strongly suggest giving ORWO a shot... they are a small company, but they are giving out 100ft rolls to test... they offer discounts to students and schools...and work with the community. I'll plug them in the name of the future of film www.orwona.com.
  8. check out what ORWO film has out... it's available in the US. Im testing a reversal film now... www.orwona.com
  9. Can you use leader film for spooling? or is that only for motion picture?
  10. I got a discount for a bulk order. I think they would work with anyone that asks, students, non-profits.... It's not Kodak they have an actual guy that gets back to you and can process invoices for custom orders... Pretty easy actually.
  11. Has anyone bought from ORWO North America? I just purchased a few rolls of UN54 to replace PlusX, and got a test roll of N74 to replace the DoubleX. I am eager to test it, apparently processing is the same as Kodak and any Kodak lab can do it...but again its new. So, anyone?
