  1. Hi All, I'd love to hear peoples thoughts on my latest music video. It was shot on a 5d, with a budget of $25, which was spent on pizza (.....yippie). http://youtu.be/b6VPlSfFREY
  2. Anyone know of any RC helicopter operators in the midwest? Everyone I've found seams to be on the east or west coast.
  3. I will be Shooting a commercial for wakeboard company, I am told they have secured a helicopter for some arial shots. I'm assuming there will be a ton of camera vibration from the helicopter. Does anyone know if there is any place in Chicago that rents a gyro stabilized head? Or have any experience with this, if I was to go the cheap route does anyone know any rigging tips that would help stabilize the camera a bit? Thanks for reading!
  4. Thank you Freya! I really appreciate your honesty, glad to see what works and what needs to go.
  5. Thanks for all your input guys, I really appreciate it! Jon i definitely agree with you about developing my eye I always subconsciously had that thought in the back of my head. It was really refreshing to get some honest opinions, and not have a bunch of people blow smoke up my ass. Guess I have to just shoot, shoot, shoot and work on that!
  6. Updated my reel recently and I would really like to know what others think of it. I can never really judge my own work, I always see all the little imperfections, so it would be nice to see someone with fresh eyes opinion of it. Are the shots solid enough? composition, lighting, color correction, etc? I've approached a couple local production companies as well as some bigger ones (never expected to hear anything from them, but why not swing for the fence) about working with them, but to my dismay I haven't heard a peep out of any of them. Am I missing something in my reel? Am I not up to that level yet? I didn't expect to be hired right off the bat and be shooting the next apple commercial or anything, but some sort of acknowledgment of my existence would be nice. Even a nice "hey, got your reel now go f#!k yourself" would be acceptable at this point. Thank you to who ever takes the time to reply! https://vimeo.com/38294780
  7. I like it a lot, your shots look pretty solid and lighting seams to be pretty respectable. I feel it's a bit lengthy though. I think it would be more effective if you could cut it down to around 1 minute 1:30 maybe?
  8. I'd like to get some feed back on a band promo I recently shot. The promos were on a 5Dmk2 with a 17-40L, 28mm f1.8, and 85mm f1.8. The lighting was pretty simple just top lit with a china ball and a bunch of black wrap. I wish I could have created a bit more contrast and kept a little more detail in the blacks, but other then that I'm fairly happy with it. Let me know what you guys think and what I could work on for next time.
  9. Thanks for input Ryan! I only shot the video, another person did all the FX work and post. Now that you mention it i agree with the over saturation and exposure (i think the contrast curve might have been pushed a little more than I would have liked)

  11. a mix I think, I just showed up and shot who ever the directors hired. I know the two kids sitting down in the church were friends of a director, the blushing girl and guy were aspiring professionals, and the cross dressers were a group of comedians.
  12. I've been playing with time lapse for a couple months now, I'd imagine more then likely your camera would be fine, but don't hold me to it. I wouldn't recommend doing it on a regular basis though because it is potentially damaging. If you are shooting the sun to get a clean exposure with out causing a whole lot of flicker, you still want to keep your exposure below 1/60th and go REALLY heavy on the ND. Also check out the forums at timescapes.org those guys might be more helpful Let us know how it goes, best of luck!
  13. HAHAHAHAHA I didn't even think of that it totally does! Although I have to admit Armageddon is one of my guilty pleasures. Michael Bay or John Schwartzman needs to offer me an internship!
  14. Thanks Daniel, what was it about the slomo you didn't like? the effect? or color? or composition? or?
  15. I updated my reel a little bit still on the shorter side, but I tried to cut down on the length of the shots and added some more content. Is this version any better? Let me know what you think! http://vimeo.com/34234524
