  1. I managed to modify a handcranked Model C from 2R to 1R in an hour using a hand file and emery paper - the sprocket is soft aluminium and easy to file. I did this mod in-situ as it can't be removed from the model C due to the riveted loop former. I wouldn't bother with super-16 modifications to these cameras, maybe Ultra-16 if you are keen enough. Rob
  2. As the title says really. I have a 1931 Keystone Model C here that I plan to shoot a few hundred of Tri-X through for some upcoming shorts. Unfortunately it lacks the cranking handle, and they are a devil to find in the UK. I wondered if anyone on the forum may have one available for purchase? All shipping costs etc will be gratefully paid. The camera has been modified to take 1R film and will be used to shoot key "period" scenes in the mining landscape of Cornwall before flying off to Dubai for an (unrelated) desert shoot. Many thanks, Robert B.
  3. Whilst I haven't performed the modification you describe, I do occasionally reload the magazine for my Cine-Kodak (early '36 model). Preloaded magazines are unobtainable here in the UK, and 2R film fairly scarce. Spooling it off of 100' loads and onto cores can be a tedious process, and if you go down this route I recommend you make yourself a 50'radius marker. I use pieces of card so I can measure by touch how far I have to go. These magazines feature an ingenious 180 degree loop that passes the film through the same set of sprockets twice. You can find an excellent tutorial on how to load these things Regards, Rob
  4. Having just picked the camera up, I find that the key "slips" about the shaft without actually winding. Is there some sort of clutch or ratchet mechanism inside? Once I've cleared a few projects off the table I'll make a start on it. Its good to be able to leave it out and come back later. Rob
  5. Hi all, I have recently aquired a Filmo DA that, by all acounts, hasn't been run since the early 1940's. The winding is very stiff and the movement sluggish, so I expect it needs a good stripping, degreasing and light oiling. Does anyone have any hints and tips or thoughts on where to start? Many thanks, Rob
  6. Hello and welcome all from a currently rather soggy Cornwall. I have an old Keystone A-7 here that I have decided to resuscitate. Unfortunately, from an ease-of-use point of view, it is the double perf variant. I know double perf is available in the US, but does anyone know if it can be had in single 100' loads in the UK? I have some in-date 1R B/W stock in the fridge if a part exchange is possible with other members, as I don't yet wish to go through the hassle of finding somewhere to grind off the unwanted teeth. Whilst I'm thinking of the keystone, is it also possible to mount the Kodak Antistigmat F1.9/25mm lens from a cine magazine kodak on the A-7? I've read that the former is a C-mount on a quick-change plate, but it does not seem possible to seperate it. Many thanks for taking the time to read this, Rob
