  1. http://www.falconercommunications.com/2004/06/01/reminiscing-with-oscar-winning-visual-effects-legend-richard-edlund-for-nikon-owner-magazine/ I have a 'C' mount to nikon mount and have shot some test footage, it all looked good to my vintage eyeballs. that may just be me. Rich
  2. Welcome A reflex camera will take 21 1/2 turns to wind fully, which in turn gets you approx 28 seconds @ 24FPS. I've been rebuilding them since 1981, somewhere in the mid 90's they switched to a different supplier for the spring material (China???) and after that I was lucky to get them to run 24FPS for a good 20 seconds, regardless of what I did to them mechanically or the type of lube I used. Here's a batch of motors which could not be sent back to Bolex for new springs as the outer gear ring was damaged. They got so bad guy on the west coast was modifying the wind mechanism so they would only crank about 17 turns. A look into the workings of a Bolex. https://youtu.be/v0IqUUnNcdg Rich Couldn't get it to embed

  6. That's my current collection of broken motors, the ones that still had a viable outer gear were sent back to Bolex to be rewound. Rich
  7. Tanasio Did you ever get your situation corrected? Rich
  8. there's two things I tell the students, with film you need vision with the other formats you just need a television. Only in film do you actually capture a moment in time, everything else has to reconstruct your image when you want to view it. Rich
  9. Maybe mistaken but I believe you need a later model door. Rich
  10. buy or print out a siemans star, I had one glued to the back of my grey card. Rich
  11. Hello Simon I like how you termed 'flung' onto the film. Yes the current version is elegantly simple and always amazed me that it would run up to 64FPS. I always assumed they quit the older version because of it's complexity, precision and cost. I do like watching it go around reminds me of my introduction to film cameras when I assembled an Arri35 II C from a box around 74 or 75. I have 2 of the old versions they both still work, one is cosmetically very nice the other looks like it's been on a couple of safaris and then some. Picked them both up $15 ea about 10 years apart. Rich
  12. Here's an inside look at the older (original?) Bolex movement. Rich
  13. Steve refering to the governor? Yes those can make some awful noise. Rich
  14. Greg Why Thank you, voice over was me just making a running commentary. Never considered myself a film maker, just a mechanic. Rich
