  1. I'm curious if there is a rule when shooting 2.35:1 vs 16:9 when it comes to choosing lenses. For example, if I want to fill the frame with someones face using a 135mm lens, I will obviously be standing in a different place depending on which aspect ratio I'm using. Do most cinematographers compensate by using a shorter focal length for cinescope? Sorry for the silly question.
  2. I'm a musician. Its my main job. We carry around a large lighting rig and play in about 150 clubs per year. The club atmosphere varies depending on who did the install etc. The pictures posted look nice. You may want to contact a budget production company. Tell them you want 4-6 scanners (not moving heads, they cost more) and some LED washes. Wash the walls with a slick color and spray some fog to help the beams pop on the scans. Most of your shots won't even show the fixtures, just the beam source. In my area people would provide that set up for $400-$500. I've used optical flares plugin in after effects to add some light sources in post before too :
  3. Thanks for the tips. I haven't experimented with a single soft source in the center. It sounds like it would be flat looking but it doesn't look that way to me. There is some nice fall off on the edge of her cheeks.
  4. Im shooting a Music video soon and need some advice. One of the songs (its a medley of songs) has a female singer that I would like to make look very glamorous. I'm not a fan of Niki Manaj, but I really like the lighting in her videos. I've attached a picture. The gear I have is 2 medium photo flex soft boxes. 2 Lowel tots light,, 1 omni, 1 lowel pro, 2 umbrellas, 2 1k red heads. Is there any way to active this look with that gear? Thanks for any tips!
