  1. When you offset the lens mount for academy, since your gate is s35, it would still expose the entire film width. I wouldn't worry about it, it is normal.
  2. I would go with a truck with a camper shell or a bit older SUV like a Tahoe. If you're going to be using it as you wrk truck, you don't want a new expensive vehicle as it will get ruined probably as you load and unload equipment etc.
  3. I wish you got yourself a life my friend instead of going against the grain for no reason.
  4. I just watched the movie at the dome. I agree with David that it looks nothing like 35. It is not sharp or clean but I like the way it looks for sure as I love s16. I guess you could say that close-ups could pass as 35, but wide shots, definitely not.
  5. I would just get the original part. You invest that much money into an Alexa but cheap out on evf bracket. It seems a bit silly to me. What you have is the vf extension. You need vf ext leveler to hold the extension at whatever position you would like.
  6. Or you could just buy another vf extension as they cost next to nothing nowadays.
  7. I would look into sync sound cameras if I were you as you could shoot mos and/or shoot dialogue as well.
  8. I don't see any problem with cropping top and bottom to achieve 2:35 aspect ratio. I shoot on 4 perf s35 and crop top and bottom to 2:35 all the time without any weirdness or problems.
  9. Bill, I would take it to a professional to get it looked at instead of trying to fix it yourself as you could cause problems and more expense down the road. Maybe you could try a rental house technician who could work on it as a side project. Hope all goes well.
  10. Tyler makes misleading statements in regards to professional productions; however, I do believe he has good intentions. I wouldn't dismiss some of his good advices by any means. I like his passion for film as an art form for instance.
  11. I've never heard electricians doing any sort of camera department work let alone download footage. What's next? You might as well ask them to pull focus while you're at it too. It is against the union rules. Much like, you wouldn't have a second AC start rigging trusses, putting up lights etc - you would have grips and electricians to do those tasks. 250 for a DIT? I would take that as that's a steal deal. Commercial PAs make 200/day so go figure.
  12. If they can't afford 1500 for a camera then it's safe to say that they can't afford to shoot on film either.
  13. One row of sprockets in both formats.
  14. Well SR3s aren't loud. At least the ones I used were dead quiet.
  15. Sounds like your shutter timing might be off. The shutter belt might be going bad.
  16. Cps have nearly 300 degree rotation. I was referring to the Duclos version. I didn't even know Tokina made one as well as I don't really pay attention to lenses like that too much. I tend to work with industry standard equipment usually. I would go with the CP if I were you.
  17. Cp2 as it is more of a proper Cine lens with proper witness marks. Tokina is just a rehoused stills lens without reliable witness marks and enough barrel rotation to pull focus on. I am not talking about its sharpness or its optical performance but just its ergonomics.
  18. Guys please, this guy is completely delusional, and is making stuff up for some unexplainable reason...
  19. I highly doubt that a project like that even exists let alone Tyler the magician 'fixed' exposure issues blah blah. What can I say? He is one delusional man. He is the man who has stories on whatever the topic is. Let's talk about motorcycles, I'm sure he would tell us he's a trained Harley technician or something. It's sad.
  20. I wish Tyler left this forum and left us in peace. Now he was the Sony repairman as well. Man, you are a joke, sorry to burst your bubble.
