  1. Hello Dom You raise a interesting question. I am used to shooting with a SONY F35 unfortunately that camera only shot at 1080p so the arri Alexa footage shouldn't be softer at 2.8K.
  2. Hello group: So I finally pulled the trigger on a Arri Alexa classic. The only issue I been having is my footage is coming out a little soft. I am shooting currently arri raw on a odyssey 7q. But even with focus assist my shots look softer then they should be. I am using Sony cinealta primes as my lenses at sometimes a 4.0 stop. Is it a monitor issue or camera issue? thanks
  3. Sorry I misspelled my email it is orobles1214@gmail.com
  4. In the market for an Arri Alexa plus, XT, or 4:3 plus. My budget is 13k for an xt or 10k for a PLUS. If anyone has one and is interested in selling email me atorobles1214@gmail.com. Thanks
  5. yes but its almost twice as much as the other cameras.
  6. Apologies for posting so many questions but I am close to deciding which camera to get and my mind changes day to day. I am torn between 3 cameras ARRI AMIRA, ARRI ALEXA XT, ARRI ALEXA PLUS 4:3. 1) AMIRA : This camera is lighter then the others and shoots up to 4k uhd. However it doesn't have the 4:3 option and anamorphic is something that i might shoot down the line. 2) ALEXA XT: It shoots up to 3.2k and has the anamorphic option but it is really heavy. 3) ALEXA PLUS 4:3: It shoots anamorphic but the most resolution it shoots is 2.8 arri raw with a license. Although it is 10k cheaper then the other two cameras on my list. What would you all decide?
  7. Hello group: I was watching a video online someone did comparing SONY CINEALTA PRIME LENSES and COOKE S4 LENSES. To my surprise the footage looked practically the same on both lenses. If you were to study the cooke lenses it just looked a little more filtered then the sony cinealta lenses. Just wondering if anyone has ever tried filtering to try to emulate the softer characteristics of the cookes?

  9. Hello group: I am interested in buying a used alexa mini from someone in vancouever, unfortunately I am from Los Angeles and spending a small fortune on something i can physically test out makes me nervous but i know a lot of you have done it. So I have to ask how are you assured your money is safe when purchasing high ticket items from people that live a large distance away?
  10. So I have a dilemma between choosing a more affordable ARRI AMIRA or going all out and getting a ALEXA MINI. I realize the mini is way more popular then the amira. However the mini is like three times more expensive. Also i hope to rent it out to get a little supplemental income on the side and I have been told by some DP friends that no one rents the amira. I was even told people prefer the way heavier ARRI ALEXA XT over the amira. Is this true why aren't people rushing for a more affordable option in the amira which has the same picture quality as the other cameras?
  11. So basically is the AMIRA a better buy then say a ALEXA XT? Shooting 4;3 doesn't matter to me since i don't own anamorphic lenses
  12. Hello group: I am in the market for a used camera and I have my eyes on either a ALEXA PLUS, ALEXA XT, perhaps a ARRI AMIRA. If you have one and is planning on selling it please email me at orobles1214@gmail.com. i prefer to deal locally in LOS ANGELES so i can view and inspect the camera. Thank you O.R
  13. So I am looking at the specs and at a glance the AMIRA seems like a better buy then the ARRI ALEXA. However in talking with a filming friend of mine he said people still prefer the ARRI ALEXA. I am confused by this and we didn't have time to get into his reasons why. Isn't 4k uhd better then 2.0k? Plus the Amira is a much lighter camera then the Alexa.

  16. Hello group: So someone is selling an alexa camera and it says it has the alexa extreme bundle license installed. Why can i find any information about this anywhere? is it all licenses installed like 4:3 and arri raw?
  17. Hello group: So I am considering purchasing an expensive new camera through global finance group. Just curious if anyone has had any experience in getting a camera through a equipment finance lender? I am assuming its risky because of the high payments. Just wondering for how many years is the typical lease extended to?
  18. I am inquiring about possible purchasing an arri alexa mini used. So I went to a rental place in burbank that is selling a mini for just 15k. The only issue i see is the menus are in chinese ( which will explain why its being sold for much less then a normal mini) Just curious whether the camera is legit besides the different language. I doubt i will get it since i won't know how to navigate the menu. O.R
  19. Hello group: So I am interested in possibly getting an arri alexa classic since they are somewhat affordable right now. However I have some basic questions I keep getting misleading information about. 1) Do you need to buy an ARRI RAW license to access the highest resolution of the camera? I own a Odyssey 7Q so i would be able to use to access the highest res. 2) If i plan to shoot anamorphic on the classic would I be able to desqueeze the image on the odyssey? Do you need a arri license to shoot anamorphic on the classic as the 4x3 license on the mini? 3) Image wise does the camera have the same look as the mini? Thanks in advance
