  1. @ Phil: Thats what I am gonna do along with the information/instructions Josh gave me.
  2. Thank you both so much for your quick and informative responses! I will post a link to what I have done, it will probably be poor but its my 1st attempt at syncing sound with 16mm but certainly not my last.
  3. The Peleng 8mm is good option the closer you get with the lens you can see slight distortion but its a great wide angle lens option with awesome DoF
  4. anyone use the Kiev 16mm cameras? One is spring wound. Another is electric. There is also one called the Alpha which is C Mount and spring wound and another which C Mount and electric( i guess an upgraded Alpha, kinda looks like an VCR camera) anybody ever use these? I wonder what the quality of these are? equivalent to K3? With the C Mount 16mm cameras, can these take all C mount or some c mount. I ask because I wonder if some lenses would hit the shutter? i find these camera intriguing and would like to hear anyones stories using them. I believe these all take 100ft rolls.
  5. Comrades, I have some footage I shot that I would like to add sound too but I am totally baffled as to how to do it. When it comes to Final Cut Pro I am a total neophyte. I shot using a Canon Scoopic MS. I shot it on 24fps. I then got my footage processed and then transferred to HD 1080 @ Pro Res. I recorded audio from the day using a ZOOM H4N but it my stupidity I forgot to put the windscreen on my H4N, so the audio footage has a lot of what I call blow-outs from the wind. I asked my friend to re record all the songs from that day and I have all the songs re-recorded. The problem I am running into is how to sync the footage with the newly recorded audio. I should of gotten my camera modified by the film group to shot shoot crystal sync but at the time I could not afford it. The 24 fps marking on the Sccopic MS is probably not exactly 24, correct? However once I got my footage digitally transferred to HD wouldn't the frame rate change? Basically I am asking how can I change the footage frame rate in FCP so that I can match it up with my audio? Also what are some basic tips/things to do when editing film transferred to HD on FCP? Like for instance: getting rid of the edges that show the perfs so that I just get the (4:3) box? On some of my transfers I get a little beyond the pert, so I get a sliver of white, I am sure I can crop it out but I do not know how to do this operation :( Can I enhance my footage, perhaps make it look sharper? Lower the grain/noise ( I got good exposures. I figure ask anyway.) Can I play with the colors? My main goal is to sync the audio with the footage. I almost matched the audio with the footage but it comes undone at some point and then is out of sync. I did this in the crudest manner just by moving the audio to the point where the musician starts playing the guitar. I normally edit in camera( i started out using super8 and really dig the straight8 thing but I now I ready to actually EDIT). I plan on learning how to edit the original way, splicing and taping/glue/film cement my film but I acquired some computer programs and really need to learn how to use them, I also plan on taking some courses in the various programs (after effects/fcp x/ compressor/etc). For now I figure I come here and ask. Please excuse my ignorance/stupidity. here is rundown of my gear used and available: Canon Scoopic MS 16mm camera *unmodified Regular 16mm* non-crystal sync ( not for long, like i mentioned earlier I plan on sending my camera to get the crystal sync mod) Final Cut Pro X Compressor Adobe After Effects Adobe Audition I got the film processed over at PacLab digitized at DiJiFi I just acquired these programs as a gift but I am computer illiterate. Sincerely, Rudy
  6. Hey Zac, Does the Scoopic link for the people who make new board work? I tried calling them but nothing happened and Ive sent them emails and nothing. Does anyone know the deal with http://canonscoopic.com/Scoopic/summary.html, I like the website and I want to use there services but I haven't gotten any feedback.
  7. Is there any other company out there that can replace the chips on a Canon Scoopic? The Scoopic guys seem to be out to lunch? I do not have the problem but since I discovered the Scoopic guy website I am interested in what the the replacement chips are.

  20. I have just acquired a Du-All 12 volt 5ah Battery w/ charger question, how long should I charge the unit for? How do I know the unit needs to be charged? How much juice will it give me if I give it a full charge. here is a link to what it I am talking about looks like: http://www.duallcamera.com/store/ the 1st item. Will I have ever have to replace the batteries inside this at some point? If so, what type will I have to get for the replacement, I am always thinking of the next calamity, so I be at least aware if not prepared.
  21. Can someone please give me a breakdown on the various lens filters: their usage and effect I have some super 8 and 16mm cameras and I would like to know what certain filters can do: I am referring to screw type lens filters, that ones that can attach to front of a lens, given the correct thread size. I have seen the full color spectrum represented in filters, so what I am basically asking is how does each colored lens alter/enhance/distort/ the shot? i.e the red filter is supposed to increase contrast in black and white film. What effect would it have if one used it with color film? A breakdown of each color filtered and filter type and how these lenses alter/enhance/distort a shot, both with regard to black and white and color film P.S What are the other types of filters and are they different from filters that screw on the the front of a lens?
  22. if you google kinor 16mm and you got the kinor 16mm blog spot. Posted is a camera for sale that has a matte box that looks like it was made for the kinor 16mm
