  1. Hi All, I had the original Eclair ACL Vision3 50D 7203 negative scanned at 4K on the LaserGraphics Director at Metropolis Post (MetroPost). Jack and his team do a fantastic job. Here's what you can do even as an experienced amateur with Vision3 50D, a Super16 converted ACL and a LaserGraphics Director 4K Scan. Be sure to watch 4K if you can: Note that there is no artificial sharpening or denoise/degrain. This is pretty much what the work print of this negative looks like with some minor differences in grading. The processing and one-light print from Fotokem was amazing!
  2. Hi All, I liked the footage I reference here so much that I had the negative scanned at 4K on the LaserGraphics Director at Metropolis Post (MetroPost). Jack and his team do a fantastic job. 3. Even wide open at 1.2 the depth of field will be considerable with a 6mm lens. Anything further away than 4 ft will be in focus at infinity focus.
  4. Logmar, Pro8mm and Wittner have been working on providing a 200ft magazine for the Logmar camera that would be what you describe. No word on availability or even if it was successful.
  5. Did everyone miss the podcast... Kodachrome. Forget e100. Koda-fn-chrome! I hope they pull it off.
  6. Hello, I assume you mean B (bayonet) mount lens turret and 200ft magazine, not 100? If it's marked 120 it's actually 120 meters so 400ft. Thanks, Dave
  7. Ok, I guess not... How about anyone in the Greater Boston area willing to rent one out to me? :)
  8. Looking for a cheap 35mm camera to get started in 35mm. Please send offers. Would prefer a PL mount but considering all options right now. Thanks! Would also consider a konvas if complete, working and ready-to-use. Dave
  9. 50D is an amazing film stock. Your max 8 super 8 films could easily be mistaken for 16mm with proper scanning, stabilization, processing, lenses and of course experience. If Pro8mm is able to come through with a one light print solution for super 8 negative I'll never see the need for a reversal again. I have to say this example test footage is very disappointing as I think it shows a lack of awareness of what is already possible and being achieved with modern scanning and legacy cameras. For them to think this is a good example is scary.
  10. Really? That Fuji stock must not hold up as well as Kodak does. I've shot plenty of 10 year old refrigerated Kodak negative with only minor shifting.
  11. For refrigerated that stock really isn't that old at all. Personally I'd just shoot it normal and the adjust in post, either graded at print time or after scan in post.
  12. I'm Surpirsed to read someone say 7203 doesn't look much different than 7219 when printed. My 7203 source material looks almost 35mm when printed unlike my 7219 which is sharper than super 8 but looks almost as grainy. I think the difference is quite extreme. It could be the way I expose things I suppose. For me though, I try to shoot as much 7203 as possible. I do find the difference between 7219 and 7213 to be pretty negligible, so I almost always just shoot 19.
  13. I'm assuming it must have a tube of some kind being from the 30s. I'll crack it open and take a look.
  14. There is nothing like a fully timed 16mm projection print from Fotokem. Even their "one light" prints are better than most any other prints I've had made. Especially if you shoot anamorphic, print it and project it. Beautiful! Mine remind me of the 35mm movies of my youth. Even better, take an old 16mm Projector and have someone like Super16 Inc widen the gate for Super16 projection. Amazing to see super16 projected. Gorgeous!
  15. Yeah. Sadly no apparent voltage even when the volume is turned up. :(
  16. HI All, Anyone know any tips or tricks for this projector's exciter lamp? Despite a fresh known-good exciter lamp, no light from said lamp. I'm 99.9% sure I'm operating this machine correctly. So, I'm looking for anyone who might know any known issues with these units before I go tearing mine apart. Thanks! Dave
  17. FYI. I do not work for Perry. I am a very happy frequent Gamma Ray Digital customer. I have yet to hear a complaint t from one of my referrals.
  18. Robino and other Indy film makers, give Perry and the scanstation at Gamma Ray Digital a chance. For both price and quality you cannot find a better solution. That said, for ultimate quality at stillcheaper than LA rates you can use the LaserGraphics Director at MetroPost in NYC or the Xenia at Cinelab in New Bedford, MA. You will not get a higher resolution, almost no digital noise and high dynamic range solution any better.
  19. I think better even than a reversal would be for them to set up a good timed print system. It really shouldn't be too hard to downsize one of the already available 16mm print systems. I actually like my Super16 prints from negative 7203 printed by Fotokem more than my E100D reversal.
  20. It's very possible that this is a vision3 based reversal. People have been doing this I test batches with the negative. The results are certainly not good, but you do get a positive image with some decent although inaccurate colors. I would definitely believe it if Kodak tweaked something to make it work.
  21. Probably the single biggest hit 16mm has taken in the last few years was NFL films dropping it in favor of digital. They literally shot millions of feet every year. I thought that might be the end of the format when that happened.
  22. Sorry soon became so long but here's my Pro8mm Provia 100F sample. Thanks for watching and when it comes back thanks for buying. The more people we can get to buy the more likely we'll be able to keep it going.
