  1. lol I can definitely see how sketchy it would be to have a toilet paper tube on a tripod and looking through it. that would do a great comedy short. I get the gist though, and I know what I like and what doesn't work when other people operate the camera, but when I am doing it I can never seem to get the fluidity that I am looking for. Matthew I'm going to make an audio tape of your post and listen to it while I sleep, maybe that will help :) So let me ask you a few more precise questions; Do you prefer lot of friction and lot of force, or little friction and little force? How do you hold the handle? with the full hand, or with the tip of your fingers?
  2. First let me say that I know I'm supposed to have my real name but I can't change it in the option the display name tab is missing. Sorry about that. My camera operating is robotic, I am totally not skilled at it and my movement is not subtle at all. I've been looking around for tips and I've seen people using rubber bands to smooth out movement. What's your technique and what tips would you have for someone like me? Thanks
  3. Hi guys, I'm trying to find the name of the filter used in django unchained to make the candles look "magical" (yes, I guess it's the best word I can come up with) when the two heroes try to buy Broomhilda from Candyland. Throughout the evening the light from the candles creates these white blobs that make the whole sequence really dreamy. You can view an example here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VcIkie8KQyA Could you guys tell me what is this filter called? Also there is another filter I am looking for which is used in "A Good Day to Die Hard" which is coming this weekend. When Kamarov is in the nuke vault in Chernobyl, the work lights emit some extreme horizontal blue lens flare. I couldn't tell for sure if this was a filter or done in post, but if it is a filter I'd like to know which one it is. I could find a video of this on youtube but if someone goes to see the film let me know if you know any filter that can do that. Thanks
  4. Hi there, So as I was waiting forever to try to buy a BMCC, I got myself a 7d and I am now looking at which lenses to buy. I don't have a lot of money to buy glass, probably around 2500-3000$, so there are a lot of things that come in the equation, including resell value. I was originally thinking of getting: Tokina 11-16 Canon 16-35 Canon 24-70 But then I saw the Samyang lenses and now I'm wondering if these are any good. These are faster, with de-clicked aperture primes which are pretty cheap as I can buy the 14mm, 24mm, 35mm and 85mm for about 1800$. So now the questions are: Are these any good built quality? Would these be of any use if I end up buying the BMCC (crop factor 2.2)? Would these be worth anything at resell since they are really less popular than the first three photo lenses I lister earlier? Thanks for letting me know what your thoughts are.
