  1. Anyone know how to take apart a Elmo 1012 xls for repair? I would dearly like to repair a broken one that I have. Service manuals are non- existent as usual. I don't know what happened to all the repair techs; they must have all died off.
  2. Anyone know the correct proceedure for removing the lens of a Elmo 1012s-xl. I have fungus on the inside of the lens and need to clean it.
  3. My Elmo 650S camera has a fault with the focus. It will focus on maxium zoom ok; but when I zoom out it refuses to focus to a sharp picture.Anyone have any ideas on how to repair it?
  4. I am afraid I am restricted to using old sound film as much as I would like to use new colour sound stock. Compared to using a new digital camera it is more time consuming and expensive; however I still love film the best. If the enthusiasts don't use film it will die for sure and there will be no film for anyone except the leftover stock sitting in freezers around the world.
  5. It would be good to hear say from a ex Kodak employee or similar as to what was really going on in the organization at the time that they stopped making the sound cartridges. And what they were really thinking then.
  6. Does anyone know of a supplier of stripped super 8 film?
  7. Anyone know if the Canon 518 will meter for this film properly? Also the problem with the internal filter; If a film is say a daylight type; how is it possible to use it both inside and outside if the filter is controlled primarily by the notch in the cartridge or the lack of it? The way I understand it, the internal pin cancells out the external filter switch usage. For some reason I find the use of the internal filter a bit confusing.
  8. Can anyone give me detailed instructions to take apart a super 8 cartridge? I want to reuse it if possible.
  9. Does anyone how to home process Kodachrome 40 super 8 into black and white reversal at home?
  10. Is it better to store film in the fridge at just above 0 degrees or in the freezer at around - 30 degrees? Does the freezing affect the film usage on a mechanical level? I have some sitting in the freezer at the moment.
  11. A great deal of info Martin! I have just brought 4 packs of sound film and will shoot these anyway. I think I will send these to Canada for processing. They can still process the 160 film.
  12. At the risk of sounding stubborn I think it would be a viable proposition. I am thinking plastic blown cases a few cents each brought in bulk. High volume printing of labels; easily done yourself. Film sourced for cheap in large bulk rolls from maybe China. The old problem with the adhesive I am sure could be solved. Here (Australia) I am paying roughly $60 for film and processing and that is silent. Anyhow just musing .
  13. That is amazing that they even care about an old product that they abandoned almost 30 years ago. If I come across any on my travels across the net I will upload them to any free download site.
  14. Anyone know where I can download super 8 camera service manuals? They seem to be as scarce as hens teeth.
  15. I would like to know if I can buy and have super 8 sound cartridges processed anywhere in the world? Surely with all the super 8 enthusiasts worldwide there would be enough customers to make its production worthwhile. I have a large number of sound super 8 cameras in my collection and I have always wanted to shoot direct sound. And anyone know whether the sound cartridge is copywrited to any company (Kodak)?
