  3. hi all, I'm just watching a Video about the Apollo 8 Mission and they mention that these Astronauts had several Live Broadcasts from Aboard the Capsule https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zp_RDqPQ-qg I wonder what kind of Camera System they had? Obviously Analog but how did that work back in 1968? Did they have Cameras making 18 or 24 Pictures a second and these images where somehow send by Radiosignal? Or did they had already some kind of a "Sensor" like our Digital Cameras?
  4. I just got my MB-20 today for a veeery nice $$$ (400$) complete with all Flags, 3 diff. Donuts, adapters for 19" rods etc. Came in a metalcase.
  5. If i may throw my 5รง to this? I always wondered why everyone is so badly after the 416? I have the SR3 Advanced and i am totally happy with it. Of course i'd  to have an 416 if it was like 1k higher as the SR3 but what makes it so special better than the one i have? The 720HD Videotab? The 35mm style Viewfinder? What makes the Camera so much better than the SR3 to justify such a high price? Please don't be offended if you find my question ridiculous, but i am serious. I got my SR3 Advanced in a fairly (very nice condition) for 5k inclusive the integrated Video Assist. If i could get one for 6 or max. 7k i might consider it. But for around 12k up to 23k...uhmm... what's the difference please? Randy ps: im open minded to this topic. if one has a real good argument ..?
  6. Hello all, I just have been offered a second Arri SR3 for a few bucks. The Camera obviously has a little electronic Illnes. It doesn't run synchronic. I guess i need to exchange the Mainboard. Please, if you have a Spare Board or you know someone where i can aquire a used or new board, please, please give me a shout. Thanks a lot Randy
  7. ieek... nope. that looks to much plastic. im filming outside in rough terrain sometimes. im going for the MB20. costs me more but its like a tank.
  8. So, i got my very first Kinoflo the other Day. It's a 2ft two element with a pair of Daylight Tubes and a pair of Tungsten. 200$ i guess thats a fair Price, isn't it? I have an Offer for a 2ft four Element for 350$ and a 4ft two Element for 350 as well. I am tempted to get those, however, im not sure if that is Futureproof? What do ya think? Should i get one of these as and later a LED Unit? They also Offered me a Kinoflo Diva 400 which is Dimable for 750$ But as far as i understand the Diva 400 needs to Change the Tubes for Daylight/Tungsten Light? Your Opinion? Thanks Randy
  9. Go and get a Camera that allows you to manually set Exposure and use a Ligthmeter. I wouldn't worry to much. Next Time you maybe want to get some 200T. Good Luck
  10. I have an option for an Arri MB20 for 1k (US $) sold by a Big Rentalhouse. I might take that one
  11. Looking for a Short cable for my Arri RCU-1 in GOOD CONDITION! Mine still works well but is in bad shape. Im willing to pay up to 100$ Also if someone has an Arri ICU-1 and CLM-1 make a fair offer.
  12. For my Arri SR3 i have rented Mattebox and Follow Focus so far, but im ready to purchase my own now. I have used the Arri MB20 and the Arri LMB4x5 so far and i was happy with it. However, altought i wish i had the funds to get a MB20 i must look for an alternative. Maybe the JTZ DP30 4x 5.65 is in my consideration. I am using Arri Zeiss HS Lenses with a front diameter of 80mm but i also have a Century Optics with 88mm. So, 4x4 is probably not a good idea. Anyone here willing to advice me? Thank you
  13. I just got my 16mm Film back from Cinelab London and i am very happy with their Service. Compared to other Labs they are offering the lowest Price for Developing and Telecine.
  14. I know a Prop Company in Germany who has Cats and Dead Bodies. But im not sure if they send it to South Carolina. You maybe want to ask them https://moviesfx.de/
  15. I did Filmschool in 2008 and we used a Sony HVR Z1, but i also have seen the Panasonic AG HVX200 in the famous Fight Brandon vs. Ryan ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pfa-Pa5IQLg ) and yes i also have seen the RED ONE back then which i considered a "Monster" i would never be able to afford. (thanks good i never bought one and sticked to film)
  16. the video is set to private. i can't watch it
  17. Watching the Robert Redford Trailer is the Answer for the Question i'm beeing asked all the Time: Why 16mm? Why Film? In the Future i will not Answer this Question anymore but give the Link. This is why i bought my Arri SR3 Camera. Thank you for this Post. It made my Day
  18. My favorite 16mm Camera is still the Canon Scoopic. I believe besides the Bolex that this is the most versatile and rugged Handheld 16mm Camera on the Market. The Objective is big enough to attach an Anamorphic Adapter onto its front. https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2380057.m570.l1313.TR12.TRC2.A0.H0.Xcanon+scoopic.TRS0&_nkw=canon+scoopic&_sacat=0
  19. Shane Hurlbut ASC yes i know that Linus Sandgren was the DP.
  20. I tought that. Shane said just recently, to achieve that silvery moonlight ambience he set the camera to 29 hundred kelvin and backlight the scene with tungsten (no gel) at 32kelvin. He mentioned thta this slightly blues up the gray tonality. However this is done with film as you mentioned, so i guess 500T was used and some tungsten backlight from pretty far up. Duuhh...i wish i had some close details on this. This is blowing me away. I really want to try this one day. Thats just amazing. Thanks for your input Stuart. I really apprechiate :)
  21. I am fascinated by a Scene in La La Land because i think this is not an easy task to do such a Scene: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=waTDxRZ93Qc What kind of wizardery was used here to achieve such an ambient? How do you lighting a scene like this? I wanted to ask shane but i think i get answers here faster. I love this! I think this scene is fabulous. I wish i could do that. Is this even possible with filmstock? Thanks Randy
  22. How do you remove rust Simon? Electrolysis? (probably the best way to do it..?)
  23. To be honest, just my humble opinion, start measuring your light the correct way with a real lightmeter and no wischi waschi software. I'm sorry, no offense here but with a real lightmeter like a seconic L-758C or something you can't do any wrong. Saving money is nice but sometimes the wrong way. https://www.sekonic.com/united-states/products/l-758cine-u/overview.aspx
  24. None. I tought i have seen one once. I was wrong. costs arount 25$ https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1105005-REG/luxi_esdhw906_light_meter_for_smartphones.html https://makers4good.com/products/luxi
