  1. Thanks for the feed back. I don't think you're being a jerk or anything. I had a day to learn Final Cut then 2 more days to finish the thing so I'm still new to it. I don't know why it squished it the way it did. The original copy of it is a mix of 16x9 and 4x3 stuff, YouTube is silly like that. But that's for the feedback.
  2. Here is a promo video we just made for the upcoming trip we're going on. It was all original footage and stills shot with a GL2 and an HC1. Let me know what you think: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hRAbm5_mUOc
  3. ooops, i posted that before i was done. my only real critisism is to maybe spread out the shots from the plane window more instead of just having them one after another, just my opinion.
  4. simply fantastic. very inspiring for future projects... keep up the good work.
  5. There are a lot of really good tutorials at: www.creativecow.net
  6. I just love the shot in The Natural of Robert Redford running calmly around the bases at the end while all the stadium lights are exploding.
  7. Was that a tribute to Kieslowski using the sugar cube like that or had you just thought of it yourself? I do indeed like the atmosphere created by the whole thing. Looks quite interesting.
  8. The ever present question that seems to be on most people's mind is, "Which is the right camera for me?" Well, wouldn't you know it, it's on mine too. I've been working with my old 1 chip JVC camera for a long time doing weddings and various projects and now I am in need of an upgrade. Over the next few months I will have the oportunity through my church to go on several mission trips to work down in New Orleans, Mexico, Thailand, and possibly down in the Amazon for a while. I obviously want to be able to get the clearest image possible so I would like to go with an HDV camera because I am by no means a rich man. I think probably around $6000 would be the limit for me. So what would you guys suggest? I'm not to worried about shooting variable frame rates, my chief concern is being able to get a clear picture. Should I go for something that shoots 1080i or something that shoots 720p? Should I spend the money on a really good camera or go for a less expensive one and get more excessories like lots of batteries (i don't know if all the places will have somewhere I can charge)? Are there certain ones that can handle heat better than others or is it really a matter of casing for the camera? I'd just like to hear imput from you guys. Thanks.

  10. There is an effect called "Color Pass" in the Video>Image Control> menu in the video effects. You can pick a color and let it pass through while it turns the rest of the image black and white. I've worked with it a little bit, make sure things are lit well and the color you want to pull out isn't anywhere else in the scene or you'll have to matte the area you want to let through. :)
  11. Looking to revamp the old computer for primarily editing purposes. Besides reworking the insides of my machine I definetly need an upgrade on my monitor situation. Right now I'm using a heavy 19" CRT monitor and I was wondering which you would suggest, going with 2 19" LCD monitors or 1 larger LCD. I figure I can get the two 19" monitors for under $600 and for that price I can't really find one larger monitor. Any thoughts?
  12. I was reading about the new HD camera Sony is putting out in July: http://www.camcorderinfo.com/content/Sony-...i-Camcorder.htm It talks about using a CMOS chip instead of a CCD. I'm not really familiar with CMOS and I don't know what other cameras have it. I was wondering if anyone knows whether CMOS is better than CCD. A HD camera for under $2000 seems very appealing and I was wondering if there was anyone who might offer some advise so I know if I should start saving for this or something else. Thanks.
