It is not a good idea to re-cell using a Ni-MH battery in a Ni-Cd battery pack. It will over heat using the Ni-CD charger because it does not know when to shut off when the cell is fully charged. Heat from charging OR discharging kills any battery. It is also not a good idea to buy a bunch of cells and solder them together. Every solder joint adds resistance in the electrical circuit. This causes the batteries to not be able to give their full voltage to your camera or light. If you try to solder on top or bottom of the battery cell itself, it will overheat it and most likely damage it beyond repair. The correct way to solder on a battery is to spot weld a tab on and then solder onto the tab. If you put cheap cells in your battery pack, they will give out early in your shoot and not last through the years like a quality cell such as Sanyo, FDK, Saft, or Panasonic.
