  1. Hey everyone,

The safety induction is coming along well. A lot of your ideas have been discussed with my client. We are finishing up the draft and will soon head off to make up some film permits, book gear etc. However, there is a new shot where we require a patient being hooked up for ECG. Now, this part is easy, however they also want a defib in action. What is the best way to do this? Would we require and actor to fake the move or hire a special effects team to build some sort of hydraulics under the bed?

The shot will be positioned like the image attached.

    Thanks in advance!

  2. Haha I do like the idea of humour in that video Luke, however I don't think my clients will want to go to that extreme level... as much as the employees would be entertained. ;)

Thanks Jim I understand what you're saying, we have incorporated some real life footage of severe accidents with light graphic content so they can truly see the dangers of electricity. We are doing this so the induction video can be remembered visually by the audience if something were to go wrong when working with electricity. Have you got any more ideas Jim?

    Cheers,

  3. Hey guys,

I am wanting to purchase the Kessler Pocket Jib for my 5D Mark III. I am ordering a Sachtler ace accessories (matte box, follow focus and base plate) for my Sachtler Ace M tripod.
Now, the crane only lets 100mm heads into the bowl, but the Sachtler head of mine is only 75mm. So is it possible to use the Sachtlers base plate and slide it into a 100mm Manfrotto head
so I can still use all the accessories?

    Thanks!!

  5. Thanks Michael for the response! I loved that commercial / promo. It was completely different to what I expected to be. Also, I loved the cinematography. Hopefully I can get a discount from the rental company so I can use some lights too! ;)
I know what you mean by seeing the same skate videos repeatedly...Youtube is a great example especially when it comes to fan videos. Thanks for the heads up!

  6. Hey guys,

I'm looking at making an indoor skatepark commercial / promo for some editing practise. The indoor skatepark invites BMX bikes, scooters and skateboards to ride on ramps and do flips into a large foam pit (their main selling point over local competitors). I aim not to include voiceovers but will have music. What do you guys think would be a good 30 second commercial or 1 minute promotional video? I had an idea of perhaps start off with a focus pull of a skateboard & then some tracking shots of empty ramps with no one on it ... then on the beat that the music starts, all the shots will have people riding at the park?

What are some of your ideas that you think would make a great commercial / promo if it were to be on their website / Facebook page helping them advertise?

    Thanks everyone,

  7. Thank you all so much for the responses! I have easy access to four 4' 4-bank Kinos + a few C - stands so I will go with those as suggested above. What is the best way to suspend these lights? The ceiling we are shooting in is quite high (over the standard 2.4 metre hight). It's around 4 metres high.

Thanks Phil, I will black wrap around the lights as I've had lens flare and light spill before in a similar situation. Thanks Freddie for letting me know the info about the gaffer, I will definitely try and contact him! Thanks also for the lighting plan, that's another good way of doing it.

    Cheers guys,

  8. Hey guys,

My client and I are currently in the process of storyboarding a safety induction video for a large electrical company. The script is basic with telling new employees about the danger of electrical gear and the hazards associated with day to day activities. My client wants to make this as interesting as possible as the target audience is around 20-25 years old. In order to make it interesting and different to the other hundreds of safety videos, what can we do differently? The budget is not a problem so there's no limits to your ideas. We can hire visual effects teams if need be, or hire equipment such as dolly's to create movement.

    Thanks in advance!

  9. Thanks Phil I think the FS700 is the way to go! Thanks for all your replies, it looks like getting an air rifle would be the best way to go. I will also look up magic supplies and some stock footage to look for cheaper / quicker solutions.

  10. Hi Satsuki,

It is a CU on a black backdrop. The globe is screwed into a lamp fixture but without the 'shades'. The fixture will be on top of a table but will not be seen. The globe is turned off at the start of the shot, and then turns on ... gradually getting to the point where it explodes (too much current). This will last about 7 seconds approximately.

    Cheers,
