    It seems I can no longer do this and I'm really not sure why... The button is greyed out. Anyone else experiencing this problem or know how to fix it? Currently running OS X 10.10.5.

    Who's tried it? I can't seem to get a feed when in live mode. I can capture, just not live grade. Very odd.

    Thank you, Satsuki. I am yet to use the F55, hence the question! Would you recommend using an SD over the SxS for the MLUT? and can the LUT be created in Resolve or do we need to use Sony's software for the LUT to be applied as an MLUT? Thanks for your time.

    Hi guys and gals, My search resulted in 0 for this, so I want know; if I apply a 3D LUT directly into the F55 (via storage media) can I shoot in a non destructive way and still have access to the SLog/SGamut footage? Thanks. Luke.

    Exactly. And I've just got confirmation from a reseller that the Echo 15 won't be available until Jan 2015!

    Thanks, John. I thought it'd have to come to that. The disc drive on the top of the Echo 15 is ugly and quite unnecessary, but the fact that it fits an internal drive is handy. The Akitio is beginning to creep ahead after reading reviews - http://www.macintouch.com/reviews/thunderdock/ The Echo 15 has been on hold for a year due to the release of Thunderbolt 2 and is supposedly set to be on sale this summer (or so they say). There are a lot of angry customers surrounding this product and obviously there are no reviews as of yet. ...Akitio WINS!

    It looks absolutely awesome... but it's a bit pricey. I'm wanting to add a few extra ports to how I'm working as a data wrangler (I'm primarily an Editor) and this Echo 15 looks like it may be twisting my arm. However, the price tag had me searching for other solutions. I found one other dock that had USB 3.0, eSATA, Thunderbolt & FW. That was the Akito Thunderbolt Dock (with a couple less USB 3.0) and there's not much in the price difference. If I was to chose from these two the winner would be the Sonnet for sure. I thought about it and tried searching a little more... keeping in mind that I still own an Echo ExpressCard Pro, which connects via Thunderbolt. I use this mainly with an eSATA adapter. I tried to find a cheaper solution (we're all about saving money and we know it!) and I found this... the Elgato Thunderbolt Dock. It has 2 Thunderbolt ports, 3 USB 3.0, HDMI, Ethernet and it's less than half of the price. I know it doesn't have eSATA but... I have a question (at last, I got to the point!): If I connect my Echo ExpressCard into the spare Thunderbolt port of the Elgato (thus giving me eSATA connectivity) will transfer speeds be massively different compared to the Express 15? or does adding that ExpressCard screw things up a little? Overall, my suggested solution won't be a tidy little box like the Echo 15 is but it should be a cheaper alternative right? Am I being naive or should I just shut up, bite the bullet and get an Echo 15? Any help or insight would be great. Help a newbie out... Thanks guys.     I'm thinking of investing. Who has used it, who's got one, and how do they perform compared to using a Red Rocket in a Mac Pro when transcoding? I'd be looking to use it with a 27" iMac (i7 3.5, 32GB RAM, 4GB GPU) and a MacBook Pro (i7 2.5, 16GB RAM, 1GB GPU). Thanks for the help guys.

    Thanks Kevin, I got an Echo Express and an eSATA card (you mentioned using two - how would I add another in there?) It worked great and I managed to transcode all of the footage on-set, except the last card. The shoot ran over and we had to leave the location as soon as I'd backed up. I'm on another this weekend shooting Epic Dragon and using the USB 3 card on day one. Day two and three I'll have a tower and the power of a Red Rocket-X. I've never used one of these so I'm preparing myself to be blown away!

    Hi everyone, I've not had to transocde scarlet footage before so I have a question. I feel it may be completly pointless but I'll ask nevertheless. Shooting RAW, at identical fps, is there actually a difference in render times between the two when transcoding dailies? Thanks.

    Great! Thanks, Freya. Unfortunately I don't have the expresscard slot on my 15" so I've just ordered the Sonnet with eSATA. This all may seem very basic to most but it's essential info for me right now. I'm really appreciating the time and advice from everyone. Luke.

    Hi Phil, Thanks for your post. For double copy and checksum I have been advised to use ShotPut Pro for now. At some point in the future the idea is to be doing a lot more of these jobs and to expand into DIT work. As I am very new to the role I have to work with what budget I have and the drives I'm provided with. The job I mentioned is unpaid, which is fine for now as I am still learning and would like to build up some relationships - I can't go around giving myself a new job title until I'm a lot more confident and experienced under the role. I've been doing a lot of reading on the role and it seems that many people have different ways of working, mainly due to budget and production. Just out of interest what sort of set up do you have for data wrangling?

    I've just read that eSATA cannot be daisy chained. Duh. How well would the set up work if the eSATA drives each had they're own port and then I used the FW800 for the RED station? Or one eSATA for one G-DRIVE and the other for the RED station... then the FW800 for the second G-DRIVE? Thanks.

    Hi Ryan, I have ShotPut for downloading and I've been transcoding Epic with Resolve, but never Scarlet. At highest resolution what are the general differences with render time? Curious as I'm on a scarlet shoot soon and would like to transcode on-set if time allows. I have a MacBook Pro 2.5 i7 16GB RAM, running 2 linked G-DRIVE's via eSATA/Thunderbolt adapter. Thanks.

    Hi, I'm primarily an Editor dabbling in motion graphics. I'm wanting more on-set work and have been offered the opportunity to do some AC and data wrangling on a local short in Leeds. I'll be using a MacBook Pro 15" (late 2011) 2.5GHz Intel Core i7, 16 GB RAM. Shooting RED scarlet and backing up on two G-DRIVE's - Yet to have confrimation whether or not the drives have eSATA. As my mac has one FireWire 800 port and one Thunderbolt, I'll be running into some problems on the way in working out how fast I can transfer data on the budget I have. I've heard and read of the problems of trying to daisy chain two FW800 drives and a RED station, all through one little FW port. I've also read a lot of positive things about the Sonnet Echo Pro Thunderbolt adapter. http://www.sonnettech.com/product/echoexpresscard34thunderbolt.html I'm hoping to get the eSATA extension, but if the G-DRIVE's are not compatible the FW800 will do for now. For £250 I'm wondering if this is the best option I have for transferring data as quickly as possible, while linking two G-DRIVE's through one eSATA and using the second eSATA for the RED station?
