True enough, but he kind of upcycled it for the TNG spin-off series with a lot more energy and panache. Especially the theme's B-part got a lot broader, more energetic treatment in the brass and string section. Apart from that I rather watch a whole season of TNG than one single screening of TMP... :P

Hi, last year I arranged Jerry Goldsmith's iconic main theme for "Star Trek: The Next Generation" as a little jazz piano fantasy. Alexander Courage's opening fanfare for the original series from 1966 as well as some other well-known motifs (like the one for the Klingons) appear along the way. Hello all, a couple of friends from Vienna have produced a small Star Wars-inspired fan film. What the flick lacks in dialogues and dramaturgy is hopefully compensated a bit by the excessive overuse of homicidal martial arts elements :P (All are passionate fencers.) Hi there, I postet this piece almost exactly five years ago in a very early version (it was actually more of a MIDI mockup) and now in the last few weeks I've been working on it again very intensively. The whole thing was recorded with new and – hopefully – more realistic orchestral samples and re-arranged here and there. I would be happy to get some feedback, especially on the mix or the sound in general and what could be improved. Hi there, 15 years ago me an some friends of mine worked on a corny little fantasy project (http://www.candlekeep.com/library/articles/tdod.htm) that was never really finished. I am now working to restore one scene of that project to use it a a template for my film music compositions. Although I am making good progress in re-cutting and dubbing that scene, I am still lacking a visual fire effect for one very short sequence and don't how to implement that kind of vfx. Here is that short sequence: Do you know any small tool/program (best free- or trialware) to quickly create some kind of a ray of fire (until 0:04) and some gout of flame (from 0:04 on) around these little monsters? It doesn't has to look particularly good, it just has to be recognizable. Howdy, I tried my best to compose the score to a little horror production called „Sarah”, a short film (18-19 min) produced by film students from all departments about a series of murderous events around a remote cabin the woods. It was executed for educational purpose only; nobody involved got any money. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CVx9Q85qQ40 However, I am eager to get some early feedback on the music, especially some hints concerning the mix and the overall sound. Is it realistic enough? If not, what sucks the most? Of course, there were no real accoustic instruments involved. Fell free to tel me what you think about it. :) Maybe you'll recognize the major motif (a falling fourth/tritone shift) here or there. ;) Best regards Dustin

Hey, thanks for your replies, really appreciate it. :) Since I wasn't entirely satisfied with the MIDI-based recording of my orchestral version I transcribed it for solo piano. I tried to stay as true as possible to the original orchestral version, especially in keeping the bass ostinato as well as the off-beat fills for pizzicato strings beneath the melody vocings. It's build upon a (hopefully) heroic melody and is intended to accompany the travel montage of a fantasy epic (game/film).
