  1. Hi All Just to let you know that a full-res trailer of the CITIZENS project is up on the website. This is far from a final trailer for the project, but I thought you might be curious nevertheless. You need Quicktime 7 and some hefty bandwidth because its 20MB - ultimately we will be using Flash and tighter compression. There is also more information about the films in the project, plus thumbnails of nearly all the productions. In the news section, with editorial permission by Small Format, you can read a 'Making Of' article about the film 'David, King of Israel' about the Iranian beauty contest in Israel. http://www.cinecitizens.com/ All comments, feedback and questions more than welcome. Cheers Nathan
  2. Hi All, Today marks an important landmark in the struggle to pull together this monumental global documentary project which we all know as 'The Citizens.' A global, portmanteau of shot character documentaries shot mainly on super-8, with a sprinkling of 16mm. Good news. There is a spanking new website for you to find out more about the project and even better it has THE FIRST trailer of the project on the home page! Please check it out and let me know what you think. http://www.cinecitizens.com Or alternatively, you can watch the trailer in appauling YouTube quality at: Thank you for your clicks.
  3. Hi All The Citizen Super-8 project is progressing and the shoots are now either in progress or wrapping. I thought you might be interested to check out this production still from Douglas Hunter's shoot. He works in Paramount so got together a pretty impressive crew and kit for his shoot! http://www.workhorse.tv/doughuntersshoot.jpg Find out more about the Citizen Super-8 project at: http://www.workhorse.tv/citizensuper8.html Cheers Nathan
  4. Hi All In addition to my Citizen Super-8 work I am currently doing some outreach for Current TV UK. They have a contest running which is called 60 Seconds to Save the Earth and involves directing 15, 30 or 60 second spots about how to avert climate change. They can be humorous, deadly serious, entirely visual or presenter-led, it's complete up to you. http://www.current.com/ecospot The best 20 will be decided by a jury of people like George Clooney, Cameron Diaz etc. And the best 40 broadcast internationally. The winner gets a Toyota hybrid car. These guys hired me knowing I've got a bit of a Super-8 background, so I am sure there would be no problem with film formats either! Only UK, US or Ireland though. Anyway send me an email to ncoombs@currentmedia.com and if you are UK based give me a call on 020 70704840 Cheers! Nathan
  5. Hi All I am down to my final lot of Super-8 Cities DVD stocks. I am not sure that I will be having more made, at least not with the 8 page booklet included, which is the most expensive part for reproduction at low volumes. So, I have maybe 10-20 copies left. Please pick them up while you still can. £10 ($20) http://www.workhorse.tv/super8cities.html Cheers
  6. From what I have heard it is not the SFX sequences he is shooting on IMAX.
  7. Does anyone have any idea why Nolan is shooting 'parts' of the new Batman film in IMAX? What is the point of that? Surely you either go fully IMAX or DRM from 35mm? Any the scenes he was planning to shoot on IMAX are not even wide establishing shots.
  8. Hi All The new Citizen Super-8 website is up. You can see all the filmmakers who are taking part, read a bit about their ideas and follow the links to their websites. It looks nicer too. We have some exceptional talent on board for this one! http://www.workhorse.tv/citizensuper8.html Let me know what you think. Please join our Facebook group too to keep up to date with all the latest developments. http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=2318646032
  9. I didn't see the Cannes screening, but my worst suspicions seem to be confirmed by the apathy with which the film has been receieved. All Bela's great work has been in collaboration with author/genius LASZLO KRASZNAHORKAI Working with Simeon's material I suspected that Tarr may just be working with thematically bankrupt material and the film just become an empty exercise in his intricate cinematographic style. Did anyone actually catch the film?
  10. Short cut of Super-8 Cities Barcelona now on the site: http://www.channel4.com/fourdocs/film/film...il.jsp?id=39105
  11. Thanks Mark. In fact, Gavin's Super-8 Cities film has now become "Film of the Week" on 4Docs - an encouraging sign without a doubt. http://www.channel4.com/fourdocs/
  12. Hi All Short cuts of three Super-8 Cities documentary films are now available on the 4Docs website: Amsterdam: http://www.channel4.com/fourdocs/film/film...il.jsp?id=39445 Singapore: http://www.channel4.com/fourdocs/film/film...il.jsp?id=39426 Exeter: http://www.channel4.com/fourdocs/film/film...il.jsp?id=39065 The Singapore doco was shot on Velvia 50D, which may be on interest to some. If you like the films, please take a few minutes of your day to register with the website and leave some positive ratings and reviews. To find out more about the project visit the website at: http://www.workhorse.tv/super8cities.html Cheers Nathan
  13. My goodness Mark - you echo my thoughts - eery!
