  1. The 10:1 makes the most sense. Definitely gives everyone a chance to improvise a bit.
  2. Is there a book that gets specific with lenses? I've read time and time again that a good director should know lenses but every time they're put in a cinematography book it's just a chapter going through the basics I.E: this is a long lens, this is widescreen, telephoto, etc. Anyone have any suggestions?
  3. If you're making a feature film aiming at a 90 minute length, how much film should you plan on using? Disregard extra needed for stunts or massive special effects. I know the shooting ratio is generally 3:1 but you should have plenty of feet ready for shots that just aren't working or when actors really have difficulty with a scene. How much would you guys need to feel comfortable?
  4. A sort of on-topic follow-up question: How much technical jargon should a cinematographer expect from a director? I know quite a bit more than the basics when it comes to this art but compared to some of the folks on here I feel like I've just taken my first baby steps.
