  1. Made me laugh..But I still need some advice on using the camera. It's the dragon sensor.
  2. Actually may have to write to the rental house don't seem to see the info? Maybe I am not seeing it? http://www.productionjunction.com/red-epic
  3. Shooting Red Epic for the first time. Longtime Arri - Sony User any exposure/ Gamma tips tricks?
  4. Trying to re-calibrate a Sekonic L-308-DC. The readings seem all over the place. Any tips or methods on recalibrating.
  5. Still there. Will link to some footage or stills tomorrow!
  6. Rec709800 shooting slog3cine. Exposed with false color. I did not lift blacks- I over exposed - so blacks were no longer at 0 ire no matter what I did I seemed to get noise though. I have had this issue with the camera more than once. Curious what else could be causing it? Maybe overall exposure? But blacks at zero should not have noise?

  8. Rec709800 shooting slog3cine. Exposed with false color. I did not lift blacks in post I meant- I over exposed so blacks were no longer at 0 ire
  9. On a recent shoot I found it to be extremely noisy in the blacks even at EI 800. I eventually ended up lifting the black levels above zero but was unable to get the contrast and ratio I wanted. That is why I am so curious how others expose there black levels. ESP such a large production.
  10. Out of curiousity. As someone mentioned the crown would love some thoughts on how they might shoot and light the show with the F55 and get such little noise?
  11. Continuing the discussion where do people expose skin tones for slog3 both with and without the rec709 lut for exposure? Does the push change this without the lut?
  12. Will be rating at EI800. I'm working with a quite a bit of light on this next project. Robin, you are saying to basically lift the whole location and stop down? how does that affect noise if you are bringing the shadows back down? Where should black fall for a less noisy image?
  13. So do most people switch to a Hypergamma for low light scenes? Let's say you are shooting a film on the F55 in SLOG3 do you constantly switch to a different gamma for all low light scenes? Would love to hear some thoughts?
  14. Trying to get a low noise image with the f55 but finding lots of noise in the shadows. I posted earlier exposure tips but any thoughts on how to get less noise in the shadows especially during a low light shoot.
  15. Thanks David! And Wang do you think about blacking out the windows on the far side and Using ND on the windows in the shot? Could a Leko potentially provide some hard sunlight ?
  16. Wide. Hight contrast meaning a high ratio between key and fill.
  17. On an upcoming narrative film, I am attempting to get a high contrast look in a large white-walled room on the top floor of an old Victorian house. I have no way of rigging outside the windows as they are too high up and there are about five of them. My largest Daylight unit is a D12 and largest tungsten is a unit is a 2k. I have numerous other small units. I still want to be able to see outside the window. Here is a bad location photo. Shooting on f55
  18. Will I need extra gear for the dolly op? I want to track with someone to a stairway then have the operator step off and follow up the stairs. Using a Matthews Round-D-Round Dolly. Will this work?
  19. what about using false color on top of a REC 709 LUT? While still shooting SLOG 3 or 2? would that still map correctly. Even if I rate the camera at let's say 1000 EI?
  20. Is it possible to Use a rec709 LUT in tandem with False Color? Does the false color only work in SLOG2 Also curious where you are finding your percentages?
  21. What standards are people using to expose the F55 I have more experience with the Alexa. I use zebras to expose with my fs7 but find it less than ideal for narrative shoots. Ideally, I would put a LUT on the EVF like I do with the FS7. Also should I use a different gamma in darker settings?
  22. How are you exposing EI 1000? Zebras? False color?
  23. Want to use my light meter for ratios in tandem with my fs7. Curious if I need to compensate at all? Also curious if anyone had experience using false colors for ratios with the fs7.
  24. Thanks! I was just holding the screen there for the test. It will, of course, be further away during the actual shoot. So you are saying I could push light in through the window I am keying out? I'm concerned it won't match the plate?
  25. I am working on a project involving heavy use of green screen to key in all the windows of an antique train. My issue is the lighting is looking very flat as the green screen will always be blocking any natural or cheated light coming from the window. Hoe do others create depth in a situation like this? I am also struggling where to place the key and fill. Un-lit test image attached.
