  1. Last year I thought it might be fun to make a short piece that can be filmed with little expense and includes a bit of Roger Rabbit style animation. Something my kids can remember me by. My background is in animation where I specialised in combining Live Action and hand-drawn animation. We shot the live action at my building over a weekend with a small talented crew. But then it took me forever to add the animation due to ongoing daytime commitments. With the help of some of my animation friends it is now finished, phew! I am so very lucky to know so many industry professionals who are willing to lend their talents to the smallest of projects. But who knows, maybe there is a longer story to be told... Shot on my Arricam LT 3perf, Cooke S4, Zeiss LWZ.2, Zeiss CP.3 Kodak Vision 3 500T.
  2. A friend of mine, Andrei Riabovitchev, (https://www.artstation.com/andrei) who is a brilliant traditional artist and has extensive credits as a concept artist and production illustrator, was one of the first to play around with AI imagery. The ones you can see here are word prompts only, no Photoshop, done in Mid Journey 5. When he started with AI, he took the results and used Photoshop and other programs to create compositions. By now the technology has advanced so far that all he has to do is feed it prompts to get the results you see here. And these only took minutes to produce.I believe that soon his name will becoe a prompt. To think that AI is not going to thin out jobs in this industry is wishful thinking.
  3. It makes sense to embrace new technology but please consider this: everything you mention, i.e. storyboards, concept art, visual effects, colour grading etc are somebody else's job. AI will thin out the job market. For example, it's a lot cheaper and faster to hire one AI wrangler for concept art than to hire a team of traditional artists. It's already happening and this is just the start. AI will be good for people at the top and bad news for many work-for-hire artists.
  4. If you are metering for 320 instead of 500, you won't be crushing the blacks. You'll be overexposing, not underexposing.
  5. The lens barrel is fine but there are blemishes on the mirror. That might be it! Thank you @Mark Dunnand @Simon Wyss!
  6. That's what it looks like but it definitely isn't ?
  7. Hi Simon, the light baffle is in place Zeiss Standard prime 24mm MkII lens. I presume the edges are fine. where do I find the shutter rim? The mount of the lens? The camera was recently converted to 2perf by Daniil Nevsky and it does a beautiful job. I am just baffled by the two shots with the flicker, all other shots are perfect.
  8. I recently shot a bit of footage with my Arriflex 2C 2perf and on two shots only there is s a flicker in the center of the image. I did use a mattebox but could this still be from light hitting the mirror at a funny angle?
  9. My Mk1 set does not have filter threads. I don't believe I've ever seen a round filter on SuperSpeeds. If they do exist, I would love to see a photo of one.
  10. Or Richard Hester at ARRI London. He's been put in charge of servicing and repairing analog gear. Richard is not at the rental part of ARRI.
  11. Yes, these do come up frequently and often with price tags that are too good to be true. They seem to mainly target people looking for film gear. I believe ICE used to be the Aaton film camera rental house/seller in London back in the day. They still exist but it is all digital now, as far as I know.
  12. Buy the second edition book. Early LTs had a different control panel which is mention in Fauer's book.
  13. There was an early version of the Arricam LT that had a different control panel. It says so in Fauer's book.
  14. I know that they are rare and nigh impossible to find. There has been one on the market for the past three years at a very high price but my budget is about half of that. I already own a 2C 2perf and I'm not looking for alternatives. A long shot but you never know if you don't ask. Any leads anyone? Thank you!
  15. You've got an Arricam Lt and the 235 2perf movement listed under 16mm cameras.
  16. There's one on ebay here. It is not mine, just sharing the link. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/125523829309?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=g0br7YALRqO&sssrc=2047675&ssuid=kXP6w59KQdq&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
  17. I've got this one that is in good condition. The bellows fixing screw is missing but can easily be substituted. £150 plus shipping.
  18. That's what I'm doing now but if affordable, I'd love to get it fixed.
  19. I've got a Zeiss Standard Speed 24mm Super 35mm format Mk2. The aperture ring is too easy to turn, it has almost no friction. Is this a job for a lens technician? what needs to be done? Any advice welcome, thank you! IMG_3707.MOV
  20. I don't think the SR cameras are la good option to run around with on a wedding do, especially if you operate on your own. Once you add a lens, a mattebox, focus gear, handgrip and battery, it is too heavy to carry around contimuously. Same goes for the BL cameras, they're heavy beasts.
  21. I'm not sure. I'm sending you a DM with a contact number.
  22. Thank you Paul-Anthony for sharing. Is this a flat scan or did you apply a grade? Looks better than the 16mm one but still a little jiggly.
  23. They also complain about the grain and one of them wonders if there may be less grain if developed with ECN2. A link to this forum follows which answers that question.
  24. Blimey, it's very grainy too. Thanks for sharing your test, Tyler.
