Wondered what some of your expert opinions were on mixing lenses? A faux pas? An unwritten rule? If not, any examples out there of successful mixing? I'm about to embark on a longterm 16mm documentary project, almost diarist in approach, and I will likely stay with my usual Bolex H16. Would Switars mix well enough with something like Zeiss 16mm Superspeeds? I have a wealth of 16mm Switar footage in archive that was unused in my previous film and would love the ability to utilise this in my new project without much distraction. I also have thoughts about segregating what would be general observational documentary/diarist shots using Switars and then using the richer Superspeeds on focussed and stylised portraits/vignettes of human subjects (this partitioning would greatly help the grade too). Again, if any filmic examples come to mind (traditional, experimental, anything) that use similar methodology then I would love to see. Looking forward to your thoughts!

Looking to swap out my Angenieux 5.9mm with an aspheron. I've come across a site saying the 4mm aspheron for the H8 can work for standard 16mm with no mention of any vignette/general issues (I have a 10mm RX Kern Switar, Bolex RX5 H16, 4:3 film gate). Any truth to this? If it does fit, how does it compare to the 5.5mm aspheron for H16? Cost save is quite something!

Planning to shoot with a Bolex RX5 and Angenieux 5.9mm setup, however I am aware that the Angenieux will be soft if I were to shoot wide open due to the camera body being the reflex version. Am I right in thinking that I'll have no focus issues past f.8?

Thanks very much Doug, I've the regular 16mm RX5. I'll have a search for an adapter and make a purchase asap, did you use a single adapter ring and if so where did you find it? Is there any vignetting at the top/bottom of frame? Also thanks Mark, I'll have a search for some alternate backups just in case.

I'm trying to track down a Bolex Aspheron to rent rather than buy in the UK, any advice on an individual or rental house that might have one? Regarding the thread on the front of the 10mm, will I be able to mount the Aspheron onto my model (image attached) or does it need to be the later macro model?
