  1. Nikon is 200 billion dollars a year in revenue. RED is 150 million. I’d wager in part, considering recent lawsuits, REDs IP and compression has a value that everyone is potentially overlooking. If you can’t beat them. Buy them. Then license what’s left out for all.

  3. Tested great. Kept in a freezer since day 1 until a few weeks ago. DM for info.
  4. Mike Brown and Kodak ATL are legit and are top top notch with not only knowledge but quality. Just to double down or contribute. If anyone has recently purchased a Minima and needs a few cores for whatever reason. Please send me a DM and I’ll gladly give some spares I have. It’s a privilege to own one especially considering the low numbers they were produced in. As much as I appreciate the feat of engineering that went into them, I appreciate the community of people that own them. Mimina for life. Truly an amazing cam.
  5. Who is designing them? I was under the impression they were flexible for a reason and designed to be so. Is that not the case?
  6. The Minima community is pretty well..minimal and tight knit. While Tyler had trashed talked this cam for a number of years in many many ways including the “difficulty” of loading spools and at times dissuading people from purchasing Minimas, I’m glad he is coming around to the benefits. He is 100% correct on spools. In regards to labs: Kodak ATL will provide loaners to be used if needed and wound with fresh stock. Colorlab will provide loaners to be used if needed and wound with fresh stock. Both labs are very friendly to Minima users as they will b wind emulsion out at little to no cost if you provide your own spools and stock. Kodak ATL especially. That being said, the minima community tends to take care of each other. You’re on a forum where 95% of that happens. Id advise you list your loads on eBay where anything minima related is usually a graveyard of insanely overpriced AKS.
  7. I have 3000’ of 160T and 64D left. $.60 per foot.
  8. I can do 4 of them. I have around 10 in total.
  9. I have spare Aaton Minima cores in new condition. Asking $75 per.
  10. I have an Aaton A-Minima body that has good electronics and is missing a pull down claw and needs some belts and shutter timing. I took it on as a project cam and I never got around to doing anything with it. For sure repairable or for use as a parts cam for an existing minima owner. Send a DM for pricing. Apologies but serious inquires only.
  11. I couldn’t agree more. It needs to be associated less with nostalgia and more with the present and future.
  12. Every production or budget or shoot is different. Going back to options. There is a lot more that factors into something besides cost. Even more so if you’re looking at a net cost or a true cost. Availability is at the top of the list. With respect. What works for you, might not for someone else. Again. Options. Especially ones that have been doing it for 30 years.
  13. I get what you’re saying. The more options we all have as artists and filmmakers the better. Scott and Roger have taken care of me for my entire career (as they have you and many others) and are amazing people that will move mountains to get things done.
  14. Scott and Roger are solid. For sure worth reaching out. Motion Picture Film Stock: motionpicturefilmstock@gmail.com
