Hi I wonder if you can help me. I have the original Arriflex shoulder rig for my Arriflex SB 16mm camera, but it's missing the pistol grip that allows the camera to attach to it. Any ideas what I could use as an alternative? Those original pistol grips are very difficult to come by but maybe there's a modern equivalent I could use instead? Any suggestions much appreciated. Hi, Can anyone suggest how I should treat rust on the inside of an Arriflex ST's door (see photo)? If I run my finger along it leaves a residue. Also, there's some very fine paint flaking off inside the camera and some fine dust/rubbing in the corners of the magazine cavity on top of the camera, which falls and collects inside the camera where the 100ft film is. Any suggestions on what I should do to maintain it would be much appreciated. Thanks. IMG_0302.heic

Hi Mark, The scans look different. The ones from the first lab look greyish and more like I'm used to seeing double-x and the 2nd lab scan look more sepia almost, which is what worried me. Especially after I tried to play around with the colour grade using fcpx - I'm by no means an expert at the post-production side tho!

Hi, I hope you can help me. I'm in the middle of editing a 16mm short film shot on double-x film stock. Recently I needed to shoot some pick-up shots and I sent the 100ft roll to a different lab (a cheaper one) to save money. The problem is the most recent footage visibly looks different, different tint, probably different chemicals etc. Is there any way to get everything to match in post? Would a professional colour grader be able to make everything match? Or will I have to shoot the pick-up shots again and send that film to the original lab? Thanks.

Hi, I've recently noticed a small blemish in the top left corner of the image when I use my Angenieux zoom lens (filming with my Arriflex 16mm camera). The blemish does not appear on the other lenses and has only very recently (on my last shoot in January) become apparent. Anybody know what it could be?

That's great, thanks Dom. I'm definitely going to send it to a technician asap. It wasn't salt water, thankfully, but it was submerged completely for a moment in the water, and I think water has gotten everywhere. As you say, it needs to be dealt with by a technician.

I slipped and fell into a river today and my Bronica SQ-A was briefly submerged in water, until I managed to drag myself up, anyway. Does anyone have any advice on what I should do to protect the camera from any further damage. And does anyone know if this kind of accident is fatal to SQ-A? More than letting the camera dry out is there anything else I should do? I only recently bought it, so I'd be gutted if that's the case. Any advice would be greatly appreciated thanks.

Thanks Dom. The funny thing is that the glass looks clear of fungus or anything else, but obviously something's wrong. I tend to think it's probably not worth the expense.

There seems to be a problem with my Schneider-Kreuznach 10mm lens for Arriflex ST. Whenever I've used it it's produced a cloudy/fogging image (see image) - this happens whether I use a matte box or not. I enquired with one lens servicing/repair company here in the UK and they suggested that the doublet elements might have separated, if this was indeed the case, they quoted £450 to fix it. If it was an issue with the coating, however, they said that couldn't be fixed by them. I should say that they were going by the pictures i sent and didn't have the lens itself to inspect. Anyway, what's your advice regarding this? £450 sounds a great deal of money to spend on the lens, especially considering you can buy another one for less than that. What should I do? Any suggestions? It would be a shame for the lens to simply not be used anymore.

Anyone have any suggestions regarding a reasonable 2nd hand light meter to use with the Arri SB 16mm camera? Anything I should be aware of? Not experienced with 16mm yet. Intend to shoot a short film soon and need a decent light meter. Thanks.

Hi, I wonder if you could help me. I'm trying to get my Arri 16mm camera to work. I bought new batteries (at a cost of £130) for the battery pack that came with camera and recently soldered them with the wiring but I still can't get the camera to run. Any suggestions? What should be my next steps? I was thinking of maybe taking it to an electrical repairs to see if the battery pack is working and the wiring is ok (and that my soldering isn't an issue), but I'm not sure. The battery pack doesn't inspire confidence somehow. Also, any ideas what socket goes into the 12Volt addition on my camera? Maybe getting a cable for this would be another way of powering the camera? Any advise or thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks Dom. When you're talking about the power cable, there is one with the italian charger (to which i've attached a UK adapter), and a fixed cable from the charger that can be attached to the battery packs. There are then two cables that I can use to attach the battery packs to the camera. There is no power cable that can be attached to the camera and directly to a power source. Should there be one?

Hi Group, I've just joined. I recently bought an Arri S 16mm on ebay. The camera has come from Italy and used to belong to RAI in Rome (Italian Public Broadcasting), which may explain some of the quirks; I live in the UK by the way. My intention is to use it to make a short 16mm film later in the year. Before that though, I need to get it working and to run a test film through it. Hopefully you'll be able to help me. I have included photos of all the issues raised below. I've attached all relevant photos. The camera came with two battery packs that don't work - the elements need changing. My question is: What is the best and most cost-effective (not mutually exclusive, surely) way of getting it running now? Should I just replace the elements in the packs and use all the existing accessories as they are? Or is there a better way of doing it these days. (For instance, the batteries in the packs are soldered with the wires and I would need to take it to a professional to do this.) The Italian charger seems to work, the lights come on anyway, and I've bought a Uk adapter for its plug. The Italian/Uk thing maybe complicates things unnecessarily? The camera has an Arri 12 volt addition to its side (see pic). What should go into its socket? I don't have the cable for it anyway. It also has a fixed-rate motor attached, although it has also come with the variable motor. Any advice you can offer would be appreciated, I'm itching to run a roll of film through it.
