  1. I bought this less than a year ago, fully serviced from Visual Products. Worked perfectly and is essentially in the exact same condition. Only ran 27 rolls through it and never had a problem. Kept clean and well maintained. Only selling it because I finished the project I bought it for. Here's a list of what is included. CP16R Super16 Camera Body in PL Mount (1) HD Video Tap (1) S16 Ground Glass (1) Reflex Viewfinder w/ Eyecup (3) PLC-4A Magazines (3) WAV NC-4 20V Onboard Batteries (1) Battery Charger (1) Angenieux 15-150mm T3.1 Zoom Lens (1) Lens Shade w/ Step-Up Retaining Ring (1) Set of (3) Tiffen Professional Series 9 Filters I'm asking $6500 plus $200 for shipping ($6700 total) which is what I payed for it. It's an awesome camera and I wish I could keep it, don't need to make a profit, just want it to go to someone who could use it and care for it. Message me on here for any questions or offers. I can take more pics if there's anything specific you'd like to see! BOX-lowrez.jp2 CAM-lowrez.jp2
  2. In case anyone comes across this topic and is curious to the answers (I still haven't gotten the film back from this shoot for the actual results) but my internet searchings told me... The fixed shutter doesn't matter much when switching between frame rates. The exposure adjustment for 36fps is to add (open up) a full stop.
  3. So I will be shooting a music video in slow motion (36fps) on my CP-16R. It has a fixed shutter so I can't adjust the speed like you would if you were shooting slow motion with a digital camera. Was wondering if this has any negative/specific effects on the final image. My other question is, since the film is going through the gate faster, to what degree do I adjust my exposure? Obviously I'll need more light, but how much more?
  4. It's a CP-16R. Yes, sorry, the video assist is installed and was part of the package (I actually bought it from Visual Products). I guess I don't even quite understand what I'm asking, ha. Where would I go about getting a video screen that would work with these connectors?
  5. I was hoping to get some suggestions on best brands and places to purchase. I don't really need anything super high quality - I'm actually pretty okay with using the viewfinder but when I'm working with a crew, it can be limiting being the only person seeing what we're shooting. Plus I think my focusing would be sharper with an external monitor. Here's an image of the connectors I have on the camera (not really sure what these are, ha, if someone could illuminate me that would be great!):
  6. Sounds like it was the viewfinder then. I didn't even know that covering it up is a thing. The little eyepiece even fell off at one point and I didn't even bother to put it back on. Weird that it only affected the 100ft or so in the middle of the roll. So what's the best way to deal with this? Keep the viewfinder covered between takes?
  7. Finally shot my first test roll with the refurbished & serviced CP-16 I recently bought. It’s Super 16mm modified and I’m shooting Kodak, 500T. It’s worth noting that the film is expired and although I don’t know how old it is, it might be very old (3-15 years). I also got a flat-scan when I had it processed. The first problem seems to be some kind of light leak or something. Midway through the first shot, all of a sudden the image gets very faded and blue. It continued through the entire following shot. Strangely enough, at the end of the second shot (and the third shot that is included), when I jerked the camera down because I was about to stop rolling, it briefly goes back to normal. For what it’s worth this was maybe 1/3rd through the roll. And in between the second shot and the third, I shot some b-roll of the bright sun reflecting off a lake where I had to stop down all the way because it was so bright. The Problem: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1KUKdxBacbVwR22kFg6gFnWb2mKLu1OQb/view?usp=sharing The second problem is this weird flash of light for a frame or two at the beginning and end of every single shot. It seems to happen pretty regularly around 64 frames before I stop rolling and 64 frames after I begin rolling (this is a compilation video of the phenomenon). It happens every single time. This problem is a little less worrysome (I can just let the take roll for a few seconds at the beginning and end of every take to neutralize it) but it’s still a little concerning. 8. I just got one of these too and it sure seems parfocal. Is there a way to test this?
  9. Finally shot my first roll of 16mm on my new camera. I'm ready to get it developed and am trying Video & Film Solutions in MD. I'm in Oregon and will need to ship it there. Anybody have any suggestions as to how to do this safely and securely?
  10. Wow, this is such a great post. Thanks so much for posting this! I recently bought a CP-16 myself because I've wanted to get into shooting film for the first time. After practicing loading for a bit, I've recently acquired some leftover short ends from a friend and am about to shoot some tests just to see how it all works before I shoot something more serious. Will definitely be referring to your post along the way!
  11. Good to know because I just purchased it, ha. Looking forward to the adventure!
  12. Yes it's a package pretty much exactly similar to that one. Yeah I originally contacted them about the SR2 but they no longer have it in inventory; much of what's on their site isn't what they actually have due to turnover I learned.
  13. Yeah I'd definitely prefer an Arri or an Aaton. $7k is definitely the very top end of my budget though.
  14. It is PL converted and has a video tap. Not sure about the specific lense yet, but my understanding is that it's a fairly basic zoom lense.
  15. I can get a CP-16R, full package with lense and pro serviced for $7k. It's also converted to Super 16mm. I'm really on the fence. It's not a "name" camera, but it is a full package. Would I be overpaying?
  16. Thanks for the suggestions! Do either of you have any experience with Visual Products in Ohio (USA)?
  17. I'm looking to get into shooting on film, just got fed up with how easy/valueless digital cinematography became for me. Sold all my digital cams and have about $6000 to play with. My main use for the camera will be shooting/directing my own narrative short films and (eventually) feature films. I'd like to shoot Super 16mm but I see it's probably a little out of my budget range if I want a full package. Given my needs, I'd love some camera recommendations and any tips/knowledge. I know I'm coming across a little naive (I did do 4 years of film school on 16mm and shoot 35mm stills passionately), but I'm pretty dedicated to taking my creative life in this direction and need a little help in finding out what I don't know/how to make it happen. Also, if anybody has anything for sale or knows of good places to purchase from. eBay is chock full of cameras but I'm a bit weary of purchasing something like this blind without any warranty/guarantee. Visual Products seems quite legit (though pricey), but I can't find any customer feedback about them. Thank you so much!
