Hey Dan, that's an ARRI Super Wide Eyepiece on Thomas's SR2 package. I've got one of those and it fits beautifully on the SR2 and makes it easier to frame Super 16. Let me know if you'd be interested in purchasing it.

    Best, -Tim

Tim, Im  always looking for weird sr upgrades did you sell the eye piece / do you you have any other fun stuff for an sr ii?

    Um... yes? What's your point?

I think under that level of criticism I'd probably have walked away from it, too, which is hardly encouraging.

You made it sound through your wording that the lead of batwoman was recast because the woke police had a problem with her, which is untrue, just wanted to give you a heads up.

That would depend on your definition of "rammed down our throat." I certainly wouldn't put it that way, though some recent productions have been criticised for allowing their politics to overshadow their story. Batwoman was attacked by people on both sides of the debate for, simultaneously, politicising a non-heterosexual lead character and for casting that was viewed as both insufficiently homosexual and ethnically inappropriate, even though both of those are protected characteristics in most jurisdictions and should not be used to as a prerequisite for employment.

Apparently they're now recasting that role. Unfortunately, "casting a lesbian" also means "excluding certain people for their sexual orientation." Sounds bad when you put it that way, eh?

Makes you wonder how Rock Hudson did so well with all those straight roles.

    P

They recast batwoman because the lead quit. You should check your facts.

Since you said "surreal" using 250D might work if the foreground actors are lit closer to daylight so that they are surrounded by a sea of orange lighting.

ahh wow. That's a really interesting idea, wish I'd thought of it on my own! That actually works extremely well with the story which is about an unassuming couple being assimilated into the restaurant. Thank you David.

To the other replies I've used 80 and 85 correction filters and haven't found the results to be worth the light loss, at least for the projects Ive shot with them, much rather use uncorrected stocks and lean into their natural qualities. That being said I haven't heard of the 80D before, that could be an interesting middle ground thank you. I own the camera gear and provide it to low budget stuff like this for free so I like to do as much analog experimentation as I can (as long as it fits the story anyways) hence why im considering doing something funky like this. Thank you all for the replies!

  5. Im in prepro for a narrative short set in a surreal restaurant environment and was toying around with the idea of shooting it on daylight stock. Its all night interiors so we'll be using almost exclusively warm or tungsten sources. Only problem is we don't have the budget to shoot a test and im not sure what shooting with tungsten light will look like on 250d vision 3. Does anyone here have any stills or clips showing examples of this? I know the film goes yellow but im curious how correctable it is or if it will add an interesting, or off putting character to skin tone.

    Hello,

I have also 16BL and had the same scratches on my first test run of the camera. What I learned is that my gate had some tiny residue of the emulsion stuck to it.  Take a good magnifying glass or take a closeup picture with your phone and clean the gate with orange stick  before every run.

    what is orange stick?

  7. I'm looking to get a video tap installed in my SR ii and I've been looking at the Visual Products HD tap. I'm curious how people feel about it, there's no customer reviews so if you have this for your camera or have used it I'd love to hear your thoughts on it. Also if you know of another company that does video tap installations that you prefer I'd love to hear it.

Here's a link to the tap I'm looking at: http://www.visualproducts.com/storeProductDetail02.asp?productID=829&Cat=3&Cat2=46
