  1. Thanks, Andy, that is helpful information. From that I derive that for properly filming screens, you need to genlock sync them with the camera, no matter what? So every MacBook and iPhone you see in films / television (which is a lot these days) is synced to the camera via genlock? How do you do that, if I may ask? (Haven't research that myself, yet)
  2. Also tested in different Apps, YouTube videos and a 2017 MacBook Pro. All the same issue. It looks like frame interpolation.
  3. Good day, I get this "ghosting" when there is movement on the MacBook's screen. In this case it is vertical scrolling. It's a 2012 MacBook Pro, but the same effect appears on my much newer iPhone XR, so I guess the problem is screen independend. I'm in Europe. I tried shooting @24fps with all available shutter angles the camera has to offer. I'm on a Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K. I also tried 25, 30, 60 fps @ 172.8° – no solution. What am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance Jannik
  4. Hi community, I got a problem with my SmallHD 501 (Rec.709 Gamma 2.4, no LUT, no change in RGB values, PageOS 4.8.6). When I use the "Crop & Scale" tool, the colors shift at the moment I activate the tool. When I deactivate the tool, the colors shift back. It is a rather small shift, but still clearly noticeable to the eye. Example video: https://vimeo.com/janniktesch/501 I testet it with with different video inputs and the bug is reproducible on each of them. The official support tried for weeks to help, but have no solution. So maybe one of you has had this problem and has solved it? Thanks in advance. Jannik
  5. Thanks for the input. I am using it to get the camera physically closer to the actors. No macro applications. I am using an Angenieux 9.5-57mm Zoom for 16mm from the 70s with 1.4x Extender (used as Expander). Front diameter 64mm. And a Angenieux 25-250mm Zoom for S35, also from the 60s/70s, its close focus distance is around 1,5m. Front diameter 110mm. In the end I am looking for a good quality glass – if an achromatic on is not needed for that, fine. Heaviness and thickness is not relevant for me.
  6. Thanks for your reply Joel. I assume you mean the price of the Tiffen is low? I am not familiar with close diopters. Do you have a recommendation? I'm looking for a full field +1 diopter. Rental houses seem to have the ones from Schneider Kreuznach. Thanks in advance.
  7. Hi. I read that achromaticity is important when it comes to close diopters to reduce chromatic aberrations. I am looking at the Tiffen model but the website doesn't say "achromatic" anywhere and I was wondering if this is because it goes without saying at this price or if I am not well enough informed about diopters. https://tiffen.com/collections/diopter/products/138mm-full-field-diopters?variant=31246735409223 Thanks in advance! Jannik
  8. Thanks Dom and David for clarifying! Meanwhile I continued reading, and again, I think there is a mistake a few pages further, am I right? It should read "only the focal length has changed." right?
  9. This might be a major mistake in my thinking, but I can't get my head around this statement: "The smaller the sensor size, the greater the angle of view will be for the same focal length." Isn't it the other way around? Do I miss something here? It's from the 4th edition from 2022. I hope someone can clarify. Thanks in advance.
  10. Here is a short interview about the book with one of the authors, Jay Holben:
  11. Thanks, Dom! Do you know if there generally is a loss of light when using front wide angle adapters?
  12. Good day, I found that on eBay: P. Angenieux Retro-Zoom Fx0.76 for 15x I have some questions regarding this: Is this is some kind of focal reducer / speedbooster? It seems to be screwed-on / mounted at the front of the lens, right? This is not giving a lens a wider angle of view but instead reducing the diameter of the image circle, right? Is this for 16mm or 35mm P. Angenieux lenses? Can it be used on other zooms than the 15x by using the step-down rings? Thanks in advance! Jannik
  13. Thanks for all thank great information, Robert. Yes, I still have interest in the 1.98mm lens. Unfortunately in the end I wasn't able to buy the one on eBay. I am not so much interested in the 9.8mm and 5.7mm. I already own an Angenieux Type R7 5.9mm which covers Super 16, which must have been the direct competitor to the Tegea 5.7mm I assume. It has a fixed focus, but unfortunately it is not set to infinity. But I can actually change that myself, because it is a Cameflex mount lens and the Cameflex to MFT adapter I use is basically a tube. So by pulling the lens out and pushing it in I actually can rack focus :D
  14. Thanks, Dom! Seems like one can not be be certain before purchasing and testing.
  15. EDIT 2: From an archived eBay auction: "It is usable, e.g. with RED, Sony F5 & F55 in the Center Crop, of course also with the BMPCC or also with the Blackmagic URSA Broadcast with full 4k. Including a simple C-mount on MFT (Micro Four Third) Mount for use e.g. at a BMPCC."
  16. Hi Dom, do you have more information on how this could be adapted? I am specifically asking for the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K with MFT mount. Thanks in advance! EDIT: This website claims: "Cinema lens for 16mm movie cameras, easily adapted to Arriflex and more modern cinema systems."
  17. Good day, I know these four tele converters are made for photography, still I hope it is okay to post it here, as I want to use them on a micro budget feature film. (P. Angenieux Standard16 Zooms adapted to MFT on the BMPCC4K) My questions is: Are there differences in image quality between the Olympus and the Panasonic models? At least here in Germany the Panasonic ones cost 100-200€ more per piece than the Olympus ones. I do not care about the electronics, just image quality. I did not find any comparisons online and I also couldn't find any local rental houses where I could do tests. So I hope someone here in the forum might help me out. Otherwise my last resort might be buying all four converters, testing them and then returning the ones which performed worse. But I'd like to avoid that obviously. Thanks in advance! Jannik
