  1. Hi Dom, well, I got some junk film and have been merrily practicing loading it. I did notice a mark on the glass behind the lens on the REX4 (assuming this is part of the reflex system?) Is this an issue? Seems to be where the light would travel from the back of the lens to the film... By the way, I have every intention of getting these beasties serviced - but just trying to rule out any show stoppers right now:) Nearly there! Thanks
  2. Thanks for the tips Dom. I know I have asked a few questions - I think I am ready to have fun:) Out of interest, do you know where I could source some dummy film?
  3. Thanks Dom. Will that affect the performance of the lens? e.g. is that an indication that the coating is actually missing on the front element?
  4. Hi, just wondering if this mark is fungus, or just cleaning marks? Not so much just the straight lines, but the little blobby shapes too, which are a bit hard to photograph, sorry... Thanks, Bruce
  5. Hi, I recently got a Bolex H15 Supreme, and a Bolex H16 Rex4, appropriate lenses for both, and several rolls of film. I am wondering if anyone in the Melbourne area would be willing to meet up for an hour or so to help me get the best out of these cameras - for example, the Kodak stock I get says that it needs to be loaded in complete darkness, but I have read that it can be done in subdued light. Also, I theoretically understand how to work out the exposure for both, but am a little uncertain. I have come from large format (4x5) photography, so have gear for that kind of set up - e.g. a pentax digital spot meter etc. I am wanting to put a roll through both - shot half, then wind back, and put in the other - not sure if this is a good or bad approach. So, its really just trying to get a solid workflow down that would get the best out of both cameras. Anyway, would be happy to pay with lunch, or a bottle of something etc. to compensate for time:) Thanks! Bruce
  6. Hi all, I just got a few Switar lenses. The glass is great, and they function correctly, but I am wondering about if the aperture ring and visifocus is set correctly. I have set them all to fully open, and focused at inifinity (I suppose that's the best way to tell - any better suggestions most welcome!) and taken photos of them and attached them here. Can someone please let me know if they are correct (I have found it difficult to find information on how to use it, so not able to compare a picture of the 'correct' way it should look) The first two are visifocus depth of field scale (not sure of the term for the other one - compass point, I think?) The first image is of the 10mm RX and the other two are for a 16mm AR and a 25mm AR. Thanks, Bruce
  7. Thanks both. I expect that, as suggested, it will probably be the least of my problems at the start:)
  8. Sorry to dredge this up - but I was reading on http://bolexh16user.net/ExposureAdvice.htm that the Bolex does NOT have 133 degree shutter, but it is 130 degree. Which is correct?
