  1. Hi all, I have recently been trying to practice loading film into a super 16mm modified krasnogorsk k3 and am coming up against some odd problems. Firstly I was not the one who performed the modification and the loop formers are removed. From what I understand this is to stop the film from getting scratched. When loading the film and feeding it through everything seems to be fine at first and I run off a good few feet to make sure it is going through okay. But then once the lid goes on and I press the trigger the film immediately jams. Here is a video of the issue. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HGuALakdNQY Can anyone make sense of this? Regards, Josh

  3. I found a super cheap switar lens on eBay. It's a 16mm lens. Below is a link. My question is.... Would this be relatively a "normal" lens for a bolex? I would rather get a ten mm, but don't want to pay 200.00+ for one. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Kern-Paillard-Switar-AR-f1-8-16mm-C-Mount-Camera-Lens-No-Reserve-/371264300473?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_2&hash=item567113a5b9

I am throwing in my XLR battery. I can provide a video of the motor running upon request I am open to meeting up locally within NYC. It has served me well! I hope it finds a good 16mm filmmaker. I can email you pictures and video of the motor working, I cannot upload on this site because my file sizes are too big, just msg me.
  6. Hello! I have been trying to outfit my Arriflex 16MB with a sync motor for music videos or similar (knowing how loud my camera is). I purchased a 60hz - 42v sync motor without its transformer for a reasonably low price on ebay. I shouldn't have any trouble building my own transformer but the connector on the motor is a little confusing to me. Does anybody know what the pins are on these 60hz - 42v motors? I assume there is a ground, pilot tone, +/- 42v, maybe a secondary at 8vdc for the torque motor on the SB model? Any help would be appreciated!!
  7. Hey, I have read in several places that slower stocks yield a more contrasty look. Does anybody have any experience with this? Would Kodak 50D be noticeably more contrasty than, say, 250D? I am shooting a scene during an overcast day and am thinking that using 50D over 250D would give the image more contrast, as I am worried that the light may look too flat on the actor's faces. Alternatively, might it be better to go with a less contrasty stock and reserve option to add contrast in the grade?
  8. Hello, I'm posting this to see if theres anyone looking for or with an intrest in this lens I have a mint condition century 1.9mm fisheye that i would be willing to let go for the right price, This lens is extremely rare

  11. Hi!! Here is my small black and white stock ready to be shoot. 5600 ft!! As you can see it's a mixed stock, all expired. I've already shot RAR2496, Regiscope and Tri-X with good results. Don't know what could happen with Perutz, Orwo, Svema, Dupont, Tasma or with the oldest one Agfa Wolfen Ultra rapid. You think its crazy to ask the lab 1 stop push with this old stocks? Have you ever use any of this stocks? Any suggestion? Bests!! Andrés
  12. Thought I'd post a short film I finished a short while back. I wanted to text a batch of 64D I had in the fridge while working with a new DP and lab. (Video and Film Solutions, Rockville, MD). Rather than film a roll,of my hometown I adapted a dream my friend had into a quick micro short film about the end of the world. Really pleased with the outcome and don't know why more shorts aren't filed inSuper 16. Tech info: Aaton XTR ZEISS Super Speed MKI FUJI 64D Lab and transfer: Video and a Film Solutions Thank you for watching

  14. Found this on ebay. I have no real use for this but it looks like a great little custom-made item, so I thought I'd post it. http://www.ebay.com/itm/251803745368?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
  15. Selling off my 16mm kit. Includes the following: - Canon Scoopic 16M with 12.5-75mm 1.8 lens - Two (2) Canon S-12 Batteries (1 has fresh, working cells and the other needs service) - Canon S-12 Battery Charger - Canon Scoopic Carrying Case - Cable Release - Filter Set: - Canon 72mm UV 1x Filter - Canon 72mm Skylight Filter - Tiffen 72mm FL-B Filter The camera is in excellent working order. The motor runs smoothly at all speeds and the interior and exterior are also very clean. The glass is free of scratches, haze, fungus, etc. As with any lens, there may be some microscopic dust on the inside of the lens, but nothing that affects image quality in any noticeable way. The one battery was re-celled within the past month and works as new. The battery charger is also in normal working condition. A charged battery will supposedly last for 100 reels of 100' stock. Regarding the filters: I have never used this set of filters. They were included when I purchased the camera and they are not in great shape. I am only including them in case someone can make better use of them than I did. Asking $500 plus exact shipping costs. Please don't hesitate to message me with any questions you may have. Thanks!

  17. Hey everyone. I figured you all would appreciate this. My dad - a true lover of the NASA space program - sent me this link to one of four videos of the space shuttle lifting off at 400fps. I am posting it here because the narrators talk extensively about the film-making processes that were used to achieve this. Really astounding images on 16mm. Enjoy!

    Eumig C16R

I recently encountered a Eumig C16R that was cheaper than it usually is, which is already pretty cheap. I'm looking for a camera that is somewhere between my Keystones, which I would throw off a cliff and not feel bad, and a Bolex, which is staying locked on a tripod or in a shoulder mount. The Eumig seems pretty appealing, but I have a few questions before I jump on it. I was told that it's not a reflex camera (even though it has an R in its name. Slightly decieving, I think), but it does seem to have a decent viewing system. How well can one frame with this camera? Is pulling focus an attainable thing? It's not reflex, so by pulling focus I mean previewing through the finder and translating my focus marks during filming. About as effective as getting out a tape measure, which I do anyway, but it would be fine to be able to have some semblance of focusing ability. How reliable is it? I haven't heard much about its functionality. Is it a single or double perf camera? How loud is it? It's clockwork so it can't be too quiet so my question is is it loud or quiet compared to, say a bolex or a keystone. Lastly, as I hinted before, I want this to be kind of somewhere between an A and a B cam. Something I would feel good strapping to the hood of a car or running through a field with. Pretty much what I'm asking is is it a good enough camera that I can ask that of it? Your input is infinitely appreciated! Thanks.
  21. Hi, I'm looking for a Cinema Products NCC6 battery charger for my CP GSMO 16mm camera. I know Whitehouse sells them but I'm wondering if anyone may have one available to sell. Thanks.
  22. Hey. I've recently shot my first 16mm film, and to our greatest luck, there's a nice big blue artifact in one of the rolls. html5 video http://gfycat.com/ElatedBountifulCowrie better quality stills https://www.dropbox.com/s/ze40zp4554ysb90/artifact_1.1.2.jpg?dl=0 There is actually information under the blue artifact (If you cannot tell by the low quality animation) which makes me wonder how this could happen? (And who's head should roll?) As this is a film school project, I don't have any contact with the lab myself, but they told the teachers it was because the camera wasn't clean. Anybody have any clue or experienced this before? Thanks!
  23. Hello, I'm working on a project for 2015 that I want to shoot on black and white 16mm film. I've watched several films online shot with Tri-X film and a few on Double X but the blacks are so dark (I know, they're supposed to be). :) These are great film stocks but for my film I kinda don't want the blacks to be so black. For example, one of my favorite films is the 1956 version of "The Bad Seed" and as you can see from the photos the black and white image is not so dark. The blacks aren't so black like they are in the modern stocks. I might not be explaining this well. You can see from the fireplace below that there is black and that the liquor is obviously a dark color but the overall scene isn't dark on the edges and has an even grey scale tone. Even the images with more dark areas aren't as black as what I've seen in modern B&W stocks. Is it possible for me to achieve this lighter toned black and white imagery with modern black and white film stocks? Or would I have to shoot on color film and do a grey scale/desaturate/black and white treatment on it in post? This discussion lost me a bit: http://www.cinematography.com/index.php?showtopic=50105&hl=%20black%20%20and%20%20white&page=2 I think someone in that post had a great idea of shooting with a still film camera using the film stock I'd like to use with the setup I plan to shoot and see how that looks. I'm going to try that.
  24. Anyone have experience with the Arri 416 timecode module? After jamming the camera/attaching a sync-box, the TC light blinks... which means it's not actually recording the timecode onto the film. After consulting the manual, the error code it gives me corresponds to 'timecode led not recognized' and suggests to check the timecode module. I'm not sure where the timecode module is, and I have a hunch that the 400' magazines we're using aren't equipped with the module to burn the timecode in. Where is the timecode module located on the mag/camera?
