  2. I just bought a motor for my Arriflex 2b. It is an Arriflex 24f constant speed motor. When I held the two together, the gear in the center of the motor and the gear in the camera are nowhere near each other, and it looks like there is another gear that is missing. I noticed the cine60 base has an intermediate composite gear, is this the same case in the Arri motor? Can I still purchase one of these gears should they exist? Thanks, Max May DP and Writer: Buteo-Gallus Films

  4. Hi there everyone! greetings. I had sent my Arriflex SR3 for repairs at Arri NY. They did work on it and sent it back. I had barely shot 7-8 400ft cans and the same problem emerged again. I had paid close to $1000 for service and shipping. Does anyone think I need to be paying again for the same job to be worked again on? Don't they stand and vouch for their workmanship? I want opinions and experiences of cinematographers who own gear and have gone through these type of problems. thanks
  5. All works well but the shutter was replaced with one that is TOO SMALL to shoot Super 16. So you MUST replace the shutter if you want to shoot Super 16! It shoots regular 16 fine with the current shutter and everything else works. The batteries don't have much life left in them so they should be replaced soon. 1 Arriflex 16SR2 Body 3 Coaxile 400ft Mags 4 Arri Mag Covers 3SRC 12/1.2 Batteries 2 16 SR2 Battery Chargers 1 Rubber Eye Cup 1 Eye Piece Extender 1 Arri Dovetail Base Plate w/15mm Rod 2 Eye Piece Extension Holder 1 4x4 LMB-3 w/2 trays 1 Set 15mm 6" Ext. 6. Hello, I am a filmmaker who inherited a Super 16 Arriflex SR2 with lenses. I can not afford the cost of film so I would like to sell it and the lenses and use the money to hire a cinematographer. The lenses are all in great condition. 7. For sell a Zeiss SuperSpeed 9.5mm T1.3 S16, a great luminous wide angle cine lens. I sell it because i search a zoom instead of primes. Price is 900 Euros + shipping. Regarding the state of the optics there is no mushroom / fungus / dust inside. There are slight "cleaning marks" on the glass, as well on the front and rear element, obviously not affecting the image. But there is no claw or crack on the glass. I bought it for a French DP who took great care. Cosmetically really in good condition, the paint and the numbers / lettering are there. The aperture ring is very fluid, the focus ring is less fluid, a little harder, but it doesen't affect the focus at all, change focus is easy. Super Speeds are among the best Super 16 lens and they have been used on many feature films. The resulting image is still impressive today. This is a test that I realized with the Blackmagic Pocket: https://vimeo.com/129887125 I am at your disposal for any additional questions, optic can be seen in Belgium. The lens is Arri Bayonet mount, also i sell the adapter Arri Bayonet to MFT from Ciecio7 for 90 euros extra. This adapter is one of the best available adapter and is shimmable: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Arri-Bayonet...-/251176724708
  8. I purchased this Arri 3C in the big Otto Nemenz auction around the middle of 2012. I did a registration test with good results after buying it but have otherwise not used the camera. Includes: - Arri 3C Camera body with PL mount port cap, body (magazine) port cap, accessory mounting bracket, Super 2.35 ground glass (could be Super 2.40, not sure) in shipping case. - Cinematography Electronics Crystal Motor Base (could also be used with an Arri 2C) - Arriflex 3C Crystal Handgrip Motor with screws and gear in plastic cup. - 6x 400' Arri 3 mags in 2x 3-hole mag cases - Jurgen's Orientable Video Door for 3C with Sony Color CCD camera. - Wide Angle Eyepiece (no rubber eyecup is included) - Arri grease - Arri Hand Held Door for 3C PICTURED BUT NOT INCLUDED: Extension Eyepiece. NOT INCLUDED: Rubber Eyecup, Power cables for camera motors to battery, power cables for Sony Color CCD, Balance Plate Top, Dovetail, Rods, Batteries, Lenses, etc. If you're not familiar with the 3C, you could think of it as the final refinement of the 2C before the Arri 35-3 came out. It has a more sturdy hinged door, unlike the metal prongs which held on the 2C door to the body. That design was never intended for the weight of a Jurgen's door and I've seen a few 2C bodies that are wearing out where these prongs grip. The 3C came from the factory with a PL mount, and it has a very nice crystal handgrip motor which is often sought after since it works just as well on the 2C. Something else I like about the 3C, they have a variable shutter, something that's hard to find on a 2C. The 3C also has a rosette for mounting accessories, right by the inching knob. The 2C doesn't have that. The 3C movement is the same as the 2C movement and motors, mags and of course ground glasses are interchangeable. The 3C is perhaps best know as the camera Arri made for the film "Das Boot" in the early 1980's. This means this camera isn't nearly as old as most 2Cs floating around out there. I know of four doors made for the 3C, although this package only includes two: Arri Orientable Door (which I've seen can be modified into a video split door) Arri Hand Held Door (included) Arri Straight Door (with optional anamorphic desqueeze module) Jurgen's Video Door (included) I should note, the door type is hinged, but it is not interchangeable with the Arri 3 door. The 3C doors are more rare, as not many of these cameras were made. Also, please see the picture with the note about compatibility with certain lenses due to the PL mount being centered for S35 (as opposed to Academy). Available for only $1,600 O.B.O!!! Available to see if you're in the LA area. For convenience, preference will be given if there is a local buyer who will pick up in person and pay cash. 9. Angenieux Zoom Type 4x17.5B - 17.5-70mm F 2.2 With Arri Standard Mount (Comes with an adapter to M4/3) Asking Price $670 which I feel is fair The lens is used of course serial number 1211645 Has some superficial marks on the rear element, no fungus or marks on the inside lens. The iris blades are a shinny, no oil marks. The focus barrel has no play and is very easy to turn, might be a downside to some people the zoom feels butter smooth and the iris does not click. The adapter is fine but if you wanted to you could get a better one from ebay or something, but it does the job. I believe this is the only zoom that covers a s16 sensor, of course it works on the BMPCC. It is really a nice lens, I just don't use it enough, for my shooting style. I am just gonna stick to primes :) Paypal and I will only ship to verified accounts. PM me to discuss further. Shipping is from San Diego CA
  10. Hi all, I'm going to try my best to describe my troubles in hopes that someone will understand what I'm talking about. Basically when I run film through my Arri 2b, the film (or more specifically the perforations) hit against the small knob/gear that says "Fette (Grease)". I don't think it is damaging the film too much, but it just doesn't seem right. Here's a photo of the knob/gear I am talking about. I have a shoot coming up soon, so anyone with insight please let me know ASAP. Thanks

  14. Hi, first time posting here. Basically I just purchased an arriflex 35mm IIB. I have searched ebay for lens' to fit this camera, but coming across a lens with this mount is proving difficult. Also I was just recently taught that there are different lenses suited to cover a 16mm and 35mm camera, so although they have the same mount, a 16mm lens would cause vignetting among other things if used on my 35mm camera. But a lot of the listings don't state whether or not they are suited for a 35mm camera. Could you guys recommend a vendor who would supply these, or any other useful knowledge I should know when searching for a lens? Thanks
  15. Hello! I have been trying to outfit my Arriflex 16MB with a sync motor for music videos or similar (knowing how loud my camera is). I purchased a 60hz - 42v sync motor without its transformer for a reasonably low price on ebay. I shouldn't have any trouble building my own transformer but the connector on the motor is a little confusing to me. Does anybody know what the pins are on these 60hz - 42v motors? I assume there is a ground, pilot tone, +/- 42v, maybe a secondary at 8vdc for the torque motor on the SB model? Any help would be appreciated!!

  17. Hi everyone. I'm trying to get some shots with a 9mm Cooke lens I have for my Arri S/B, I'd like to put some filtration in front of it. The problem is that, due to the wide field of view, I'm still getting the interior of the matte box on the edges of the picture frame. I'm trying to figure out how to rig something but I thought I'd put my query up here since I know others have run into and dealt with this before. Thanks in advance for any help.

  22. I am selling my Arriflex 435 ES camera. This camera is in great condition and runs perfectly! It was well maintained and recently serviced. The Arriflex 435 ES is a fantastic MOS film camera that has been trusted and used worldwide for years. The 435 is amazing for slow-motion, running crystal sync up to 150 fps! It's a lightweight camera, yet it's incredibly sturdy. The ES stands for electronic shutter meaning that the 435 ES can adjust its shutter electronically, which is great for speed ramping, something this camera does well. The Arriflex 435 ES will serve you well for years to come. The camera is still highly in use today, with many directors and cinematographers choosing to shoot on it due to its high-speed capabilities, and overall compact lightweight design. The package includes: Arri Arriflex 435 ES Camera Integrated Video Assist (IVS) (3) 400' Magazines Short Viewfinder Long Viewfinder Extension Heated Eyecup Heater Cable RCU-1 Remote Control Unit RCU Long Cable WL-3 Work Light 24v Plug-In Module Carrying handle Right Hand Grip w/Trigger Large Flight Case Small Flight Case Film is a beautiful medium, and will be used to capture gorgeous cinematic images for a long time to come. I am asking $8,500 but I am open and willing to negotiate a lower price, so make me an offer! Thanks! I am also selling an Arriflex SR3 Advanced package for $3,500 OBO. Includes 3 mags, 2 batteries, mattebox, rods, etc. Hit me up if you're interested!
  23. First off, I want to say thank you to all the people who contribute to this forum - I’ve been lurking around for quite some time without posting much. You know the old adage... “If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all”... Well, by nice I mean something that could further the discussions - but quite often I find the answers before needing to ask! Anyway, I just got myself a s16mm Arriflex SR2 (PL mount), and I'm looking into prime lens options. I have a collection of 35mm and above format primes, but none suitable for this smaller gauge (they can obviously cover it but finding a good wide/normal lens out of my collection is a stretch). I’ve read in various places that some 16mm format lenses aren't compatible - they cover it but don’t physically fit with the Arri SRII or SR1. My question; what prime lenses which cover and/or are designed for super16 are compatible with my SR2 in the wide to normal focal lengths. I'm not looking for the newest and greatest optics available, but instead some quality vintage glass with character. Old lenses from the likes of Cooke, Schneider, Zeiss, Meyer, and probably any old German or Russian knockoff's interest me. Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated.
