I've been working with video as an amateur now for 5 years. After I graduated college last year I decided it was time to move from a DSLR to a more cinema oriented body. I went with the Canon C100 and thanks to a grant I won in my last semester, I was able to purchase the Atomos Ninja Blade 2 as well. Right now, I am working as a DP on a small-budget horror feature. After this is through, I have my projects I'd like to embark on, BUT I may lose the Ninja Blade (because the grant was through the school and they want to/have the right to keep it). I understand this severely limits the recording capability of the C100. I read a thread the other night on this forum discussing the Blackmagic Pocket Cam. Now, I am wondering if I've made a mistake choosing the C100. Or if maybe the BMPCC would make my projects cheaper to achieve as I'm yet to purchase any of my own glass or rigging for the C100. My problem, I suppose, is this: Do I press on with the C100 and buy rigging and some glass for it (and unfortunately a new Ninja Blade) or do I liquidate and invest in the BMPCC and some glass for it? Or do I just sit tight with what I have and rent until I have enough money for something substantially better than either?

I'm shooting a fairly low-budget short film in February and trying to decide what camera system to go for. I won't need slow-motion, low-light wizardry, or a VFX-capable post workflow. I'll be shooting in one location, in controlled lighting. All I really care about is image quality, especially skin tones and highlight rolloff. Has anyone used--or better, compared--these two cameras, and could give a preference? Any help would be hugely appreciated! Thanks.

Preparing for a documentary shoot which will shoot in six locations, each with a different crew and DP. We're searching for a universal package that can get each unit matching as close as possible. Cameras are Sony FS7 across the board. For the most part, we'll be renting the Canon 15.5-47 or the 14.5-60 along with the Canon 30-105. However, in one of our locations, the only short zoom available is the Angenieux 15-40. My gut says that the Ang won't mesh well with the CN-E zooms, but it's been a few years since I've shot with the Ang and wanted a second opinion. Does anyone have experience matching the Angenieuxs to the CN-E zooms? -

This forum is abound with requests for cheep 16mm cameras. Very few however broach the subject of sound. I'm looking for a camera with sound sync and a reflex view finder. I have four 100' roles in my freezer so it would be beneficial to be able to use them as apposed to a camera that only shoots 400' roles. I've shot two short films using the Canon Scoopic. Both projects where dialogue free. From what I've been told there's no good way to sync sound to them. In fact, I was told if you tried the sound would become desynced. is this true? I'm looking for a camera under $500 that has sound sync and a reflex view finder. I'm currently looking at a Bolex M5 with a reflex zoom lens but it's a bit more than i'd like to spend.

I am looking to buy a Canon Scoopic in good working order. MS or M preferred, but grey model considered. Would also consider other 16mm cameras - looking for easy to use, suitable for hand held work and ready to go. Electric preferred, but would consider wind up cameras (K3 etc) if price was right. I just purchased a Canon Cine Zoom model 512 8mm camera off ebay and the spring driven mechanism makes a clunk sound and locks up. Is this camera worth fixing? Who would you recommend if it is worth it. Thanks

Sometimes when you shoot you want to underexpose a scene. The problem with Dslr is the great amount of noise in the shadows when exposure is not perfect, and other little problems. What's your workflow with this? Thanks to all that answer...

I was browsing some Canon Cinema Prime lenses, and I read: "they offer brilliant 4K image quality" my question is: what does that mean? I mean, how do they calculate that the lens offers a 4K image quality and not for instance a 2K? thank you so much :) -
Hey Guys, I'm looking to increase the visual quality of my work by upgrading glass. Right now, I'm primarily working with Canon stills glass (24mm, 50mm, 85mm, 70-200mm), but i want to get a new lens set to take me to the next level. Hey Guys, I'm currently working for a production company that is looking to upgrade camera systems. We really want to take our visual quality to the next level here. Right now- depending on the client- we utilize either FS100's for run-n-gun type work, in addition to GH4s for more corporate 4k stuff. Can anyone recommend a suitable upgrade to what we have? Let's say our budget (we are looking for an upgraded pair) is anywhere from $2-8,000 per camera. It would be great if you could provide a gradient of options! Right now, our main prospect is the Sony A7s II. Thanks! Sam

Hi all. This is my first post as a member. I'm thinking that this is the place to get some answers to a new project. I recently purchased a Baltar 75mm f2.3 lens. I'm attaching a photo, that will show you the mount. I got it at a deeply discounted price, so I thought that there are two possible options for it: 1. re-sell 2. find a way to convert/adapt the lens to be used on my Canon 5DMkII *** this is preferred, I'm a still photographer, but love old lenses I have been searching online for companies that work with old lenses, and most will clean lenses, but do not offer conversion service. But I'm assuming that I'm looking in the wrong places. So here are my questions so far, for which I have no answers: 1. what lens mount does this lens have? 2.Is there an adapter to EOS, or to another mount (M42?) that could be adapted to fit? 3. Doe this lens have the ability to focus, or is it in the camera mount? 4. I have seen this lens mounted into what looks like a Nikon 50mm f1.8 deconstructed lens. This might be interesting, but I can't find the person who is doing it, or any technical info on how to do the conversion. Any other information about would also be greatly appreciated. Hi yall $7400 I have a Canon C300 with extras here. The camera was used for interviews on a documentary and some b-roll, 672 hours. It has been lightly used and well-cared for, never dropped. I have thoroughly enjoyed this camera. Terrific image, lightweight, robust, great for documentary and travel as well as TV and cinema. Feel free to ask any questions.
