  1. Basically what the title says. I know this might be a dumb question as I could probably look up projects that used those lenses with other lenses but I want some words with thoughts with context as to the rationale behind lens choice, so let me what you'd pick.

Custom T tuned. They are very special set. when the lenses were made the owner had some adjustments made to the standard T tunings only for the early adopters. The edge fall off is slightly different And the contrast and flares too But they are very similar to T tuning with a special upgrade. That’s why this set is one of a kind. Here are more details of the set. 20.7mm - Boutique lens manufacturer Tribe 7 has added a brand new 20.7mm prime lens to their current Blackwing line of primes. The 20.7mm is now the widest lens in the set. It remains T1.9 like the rest of the set which is respectably fast. 27mm - 1960’s Retrofocus construction Sigma WIDEMAX Asahi Super TAKUMAR 37mm- 1950’s retrofocus construction R1 Angenieux 35mm f/2.5 “I used the 37 for a flashback memory sequence on the upcoming Brave New World show; I found the lens at T1.8 to be so magical, so painterly, so evocative and unique. 6. Hi, so I found a set of ultrascope anamorphic lenses going for a really good price and despite the lenses being advertised for super 35, the spherical blocks of the 40, 50, and 85mm in the set cover full frame, but the thing I don't know is whether the anamorphic blocks with the spherical blocks also cover full frame in those focal lengths. So that's why I wanted to ask, has anyone tried either and or the 40mm, 50mm, and 85mm ultrascope anamorphics on a full frame camera like the Alexa LF or mini LF or just any full frame camera and if you did, does it cover full frame?

  9. I decided to check out the history of film stocks and their different formats, and I realized that there are no actual full-frame movie stocks that were ever developed or used for cinema back in those days. Full-frame as we cinema people interpret it today, from what I understand, came from digital manufacturers making sensors based on the 135mm film stock dimensions made for Photography: -Which are ~35mm wide in its negative and ~24mm tall negative(which is approximately the actual width of negatives on Super35mm film stocks, so basically it's like someone rotated Super35mm stocks 90 degrees) -Pulled along horizontally rather than vertically, which is actually what allows the ~35mm width negative Unless I'm missing something, why was there no Full-Frame( not the full-gate 35mm but the actual negative 36 x 24) ever used? It was quite surprising to see that cinema film stock developers decided to just jump straight into Medium Format from Super35. The only thing that might come close to it is VistaVision, but I'm not 100% sure if that actually qualifies as full frame . Thanks
  10. https://www.ebay.com/itm/384545645331?mkevt=1&mkcid=16&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0 Asking Price: $15,000 Rare opportunity here friends, I am currently selling my Todd-AO 35 2x Anamorphic 40-240mm f/4.2 Varifocal Cinema Zoom lens with its original casing. This once in a blue moon piece of glass from the 1970s is used with signs of ware external ware, though in perfect working condition with no loss of optical quality. It is made with a BNCR mount, which may be converted to match any other full frame lens mount which supports BNCR flange depth (IE a PL mount for example). This is a vintage anamorphic cinema zoom lens from the 1970s which comes with its original casing. Todd-AO’s are known for their incomparable violet anamorphic flares matched with a sharp yet distinct image. If this is a lens you can’t let slip by, click the link to my eBay page at the top of the forum. If an eBay account isn’t your thing, feel free to send me a direct message. Other than eBay, I will only accept PayPal. Item will ship once payment has gone through, and I will handle the shipping costs. All sales are final. Feel free to reach out with any further questions!
  11. Hi there! I built two sets of Leica R's for a feature and now am looking to let go one of them, if there is demand right now. The set consists of: Leica R 19mm 2.8 V1 Leica R 21mm 4.0 Leica R 24mm 2.8 V1 Leica R 28mm 2.8 V1 Leica R 35mm 1.4 Summilux Leica R 50mm 1.4 Summilux Leica R 80mm 1.4 Summilux (optional) Leica R 90mm 2.0 (my second set consists of a lot more focal lengths, if you are looking to add more lenses) They are all from the same time period and match very well. All have been serviced, declicked, focus gears, 80mm universal fronts (apart from the 19), and original Leica UV Filters (apart from the 19). Very good condition & they did a beautiful job on the full frame sensor. Located in Vienna, Austria - can be shipped worldwide Hit me up for more infos, pictures & price suggestions - I will update this post later on Thanks! Best, Patrick
  12. Hi! So I've got a few special lenses I am about to sell, or at least some of them. All of them are in excellent condition. Located in Vienna, Austria / but can send them anywhere you want. So here we go: Leica Leitz APO Summicron R 180mm f2.0 Very rare, and very beautiful. Would make an excellent addition to a Summilux-C or Summicron-C Set. It is in nearly perfect condition. Also this will cover larger than FF, this is an impressive lens & will be especially impressive on formats like Alexa 65 etc. Two very slight marks on the body a minimal short hairline scratch at the front glas - just saw it when having it inspected at the Leica Store. Would invest in a PL conversion in no time if I would have a project for it. Aperture & Focus runs smoothly no fungus no haze. Will be sold by the Leica Store Vienna to a much higher price, beginning in one week or so - so this is the chance to buy directly from me. Make me a realistic offer. Prices on Ebay are 6k-9k €. Iscorama - Anamorphot 1.5x 42 MC Very rare, and very beautiful as well. I don't know how it was possible, but I've got two of them. Just pops up on ebay every few years or so. I'm fine with only having one. In perfect condition. Focus runs smoothly no fungus no haze. Value is hard to tell, since it doesn't get sold very often. I guess around 4-5k €. Iscorama - Anamorphot pre 36 non MC The classic Iscorama everyone is looking for. In very good condition. Just the plastic housing looks a bit grey, but optically excellent. Focus runs smoothly no fungus no haze. 3.5k € Rollei Carl Zeiss Distagon & Planar 1.4/35 & 1.4/85 (FF, triangular Aperture) - Vintage Full Frame Slightly different in coating to the well known Contax Zeiss Lenses (but still match well to them) but their killer feature is the triangular aperture. Like B-Speeds but these are Full Frame. Just got inspected by a lens technician. Excellent condition. Can be easily adapted to EF if necessary. Also have the Rolleiflex 6006 - an awesome 35mm analogue camera, if you are interested in these. Was a quite remarkable system at the time, where you could change the filmstocks, like with medium format bodies. 2.2k € for both lenses Canon FD 55mm SSC 1.2 - Vintage Full Frame I've got the ASPH version as well. Didn't see much of a difference, apart from that this is not yellowing, because it got no thorium in it. This lens is Mint, I wouldn't want to take it in the field :D. 400€ Canon FD 35mm SSC 2.8 TS (Tilt Shift) - Vintage Full Frame Vintage Tilt Shift - so it covers much larger then Full Frame. Mint! 700€ Canon FD 100mm 4.0 Makro - Vintage Full Frame Solid Makro lens - not that rare, but this is mint! 150€ Open to reasonable offers, can send images - just contact me. Thanks! Best, Patrick

  14. Hi everybody, I was reading a previous issues of "Film and Digital Times" and I came across a portion in wich the editor ask one of the lens engeneers behind the signature primes: -Q: "What happens with a large format lens like a signature prime on a Super 35mm camera like an Alexa SXT?" -A: "The LF lens looks the same as the S35 lens. An 18mm LF lens on the S35 camera looks just like an 18mm S35 lens on the S35 camera" Maybe I lack of knowledge, but I thought we were going to get a narrower field of view. So following the same logic for example if I put a 50mmn Master prime on an Arri 416 plus my lens would give me the same FOV as, for example, a 50mm Ultra 16 prime. I'm really confused about what happens when we put a bigger format lens on a smaller format sensor. Thanks in advance!

  16. Hello guys, I am in the process of building my kit and I would like to ask for your advice. I want to reach the most cinematic look while maintaining maximal portability and reasonable budget. So far I was using GH5 with 25mm Voigtlander lens and right now I am thinking of either getting also 10 and 42mm to complete my set or going full frame and getting old Contax Zeiss supers. I like how Voigtlanders work with light, but sometimes I feel I could get more filmic results with vintage lenses (for example with my old Hellios that I am sometimes using). I would like to hear your opinion about Contax Zeiss that are highly praised. As far as body goes. I like that GH5 can record 442 10bit internal and don't know about any full frame in the same size and price range that could do same. With modern fast and wide mft lenses, full frame kinda looses it's point, what do you think?

  18. Hey guys. Check out this nice article about this full frame lens phenomenon we're seeing in 2017. If anyone was at NAB or followed it, you know how big full frame lenses have become this year. We sat down with Matt Duclos of Duclos Lenses and Mark LaFleur of Old Fast Glass to discuss what this means and where we're heading in cinema. http://blog.sharegrid.com/blog/why-full-frame-lenses-expose-the-future-of-cinema-cameras

  20. Hi all, So I'm running into a little problem, and am a little confused. Basically, I'm having trouble choosing between a FF 35mm DSLR (Canon 6D) versus APS-C DSLRs (Canon Rebels, Canon 7D). I'm very inclined into choosing the Full Frame format because of the of the 35mm mount lenses and the distortion factor problems with cropped sensors. But I'm still not sure, because, as I'm trying to match the film look, the S35mm format rings in my head and I get confused. What would be closer to what I want? Keeping the APS-C sensors size? or upgrading to FF? Please excuse if my question seems ignorant to you, I'm only 17 and still in my first years as a student. Thanks for your feedback, - Jules.
