  1. Hello all - I'm completely new to these forums, and already excited to start delving deep into all the information here. Just wanted to share a trailer for my feature, DON'T. STOP. RUNNING. which, as is often the way with microbudget indies - I wrote, directed AND shot... Never again...! I used a BMPCC and a range of M43, C Mount, M42 and Arri B-mount secondhand and new lenses, and was amazed to see the quality we could get from that little camera. We shot, for the most part, outside in a British summer (occasional bits of sunshine interspersed with long periods of slate grey skies) with just a sun direction app, a couple of reflectors and an Artem smoke gun. I'd love to know what people think of the trailer - a bit of feedback and critique is the best way of learning! Thanks, Alex.

The stock can be: shortends, recans, outdated stock. I need something like 600m/2000ft. We are on really tight budget, so prefer affordable offers.   3. Hello guys! I'm a filmmaker based in London, England and I wanted to share with you all my latest work. I'm very grateful for this site as I've learned a lot from here and met a lot of good people (and some bad ones too). It inspired me to do what I do and to be where I am. So, I finished my second feature film called The Job, it was a complete hell to shoot as it was shot with one camera, one lens, and one light and entirely in two days. We shot 60 pages a day. I could say it was done because it was artistic call but I would be lying, as it was obviously because of the budget. And I would really love to hear what you have to say. The film is inspired by Reservoir Dogs for the most part, with a gangster twist. Logline: When five guys robbed a bank, they thought that the robbery itself was the hardest part of the job.   4. Does anybody know where I can find a list of micro-budget (under $100K US) feature films that are streaming somewhere online? Preferably recent films--last five years, if I can find them. I'm producing and directing a film along those lines and want to research the competition, but can't figure out how to find these movies. Everything I've tried Googling just yields a list of breakout indies or classic zero-budget indies I've already seen. Where are the sorta-good, sorta-shitty movies that don't suck but didn't necessarily break out? Thanks!!

  6. Good night guys, we're shooting a short film in about a month, and I'm planning to use a BMCC 2.5K. It's a low budget film so we'll be using some LED panels and Rokinon lenses. However, there's a night scene, so I'd like to know if there's any recommended exposure settings that you suggest. I haven't visited the location at night yet, but I know it's not pitch black, and that there are some practicals. Also, we're not looking for a high contrast/ very dramatic look, mostly soft light. The only time I've shot night scenes with the BM I used ISO 800 and played with wide apertures (T/1.5 the widest) and I found it delivered a decent image. However, even after the color grading there was some noticeable noise. Is there something specific that you suggest so I can improve the image quality or is that about the best I can get? A colleague of mine with a small production company is struggling with work, I'm doing him some favors lighting with my tungsten kit to help make his projects look better in hopes of grabbing in some clients with deeper pockets. Sometimes we need a bright pool of daylight because the cameras used aren't very sensitive (around 250 ASA) and/or shooting into windows. I was thinking of putting together an array of those giant 6500k 105w CFLs with 90+ CRI, though keeping their built in ballasts cool might be a concern if they're packed in closely. Renting isn't an option; HMIs, kinos, etc. are out of budget and this wouldn't be used that often. Does anyone have any ideas? Has anyone seen any creative solutions for getting a lot of daylight for your buck out of a 15A outlet? Also considering lipo battery/giant inverter options for quick shots that require more current. It's definetly not something that would go on a truck for day-in-day-out production use by different crews and such. Looking to get something that will output around 50 foot candles at 30ft from subject 30ft+ width beam. Softness/hardness isn't a concern at this point, just getting exposure is hard enough. Impossible to find/build?

  10. Hi you all :) I recently bought some cheap Chinese fresnel lights just to see if they are any good or not. I wrote some thoughts to my blog, and there is also lots of images! http://aapolettinen.blogspot.fi/2014/09/chinese-fresnels-are-they-any-good.html I'd say it is very risky to order this type of gear directly from China. Luckily I have worked years with professional lights so I dared to try these cheap counterparts just to see if they can be used safely by anybody...
