I recently bought a Konvas 2M with the 17.. Sync motor. The camera appears to be in good working condition. Looking condition is fair to good. It came with a 400ft magazine, 4 pin XLR cable and M42 adapter. I already have the camera, some film to practice loading the mag and I order some film to shoot soon. Why am I posting here? I've been trying to find information about the camera. But basically every link connecting to websites related to this camera are out of service. I found the user manual at rafscamera's website (thanks) But other than that there is not much recent or usable info any more. I know the camera is pretty straight forward. Easy to use but I would like to lub it, and be careful so I don't damage the camera. I wanna do it myself, because I can't pay. Not that I'm super poor, but probably the camera is not going to generate money for me at any point. But I still feel a profound respect for cameras and film and I would like to use occasionally in my personal projects. So I have the user manual, I have shot super 8 and 16mm before. I know how to expose and use lenses.. You know the basics. But I would like to receive some specific advice for this camera. Thanks

We filmed with a movie camera the Konvas-automat 1KSR of 1958 on black and white 35 mm film Agfa Avifot 200. It was with the same movie camera that the second cosmonaut German Titov on August 6, 1961, from the Vostok-2 spacecraft, made the world's first space filming! In memory of this event, we restored the Konvas movie camera and made these filming. Now we dream of sending this movie camera to the ISS so that modern cosmonauts can film it, paying tribute to the memory of the generation of the First Ones and 60s anniversary first space films hoot . I have been looking for a nice and cheap 16mm camera to start with. I don't mind if I have to do some work on it to get it running, as long as it's do-able. the requirements are that it needs to be capable of getting footage that looks good by todays standards, should be between 100-600$ lower the better, (I have to be able to pay for film after buying it). If it doesn't have a motor is it all that hard to make one? will it look like super 8 If shoot with it? Is there any thing I should know? What other cameras should I be looking for? It's things like this that make me aviod a bolex. I've seen better thing shoot on super 8 max 8, like this. I'm going for something like this. I know it's a bolex in the first one. but there are some reasons I don't really want one, including stability. If I had money, I'd want something like this. This is what I'm looking for, in the sense of quality. I'd get a Krasnogorsk 3 if i'd wern"t for being a wind up and only taking 100' of film. I need to blimp what ever I get unless it's self blimped. Krasnogorsk 3 test, ignore the flicer, thats from the eye pice not being covered. P.S. I also consderd a canon scoopic. also how do you control and focus a camera thats blimped, expshilly if it's a home made one? Do I really need a sync motor? Also sorry for being so long with the question. cameras I'm talking about. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Professional-16-mm-movie-camera-KRASNOGORSK-3-M42-lens-Meteor-/401049505137?hash=item5d6069cd71:g:-PMAAOSwwPhWh7Bc http://www.ebay.com/itm/16CP-M-Professional-Movie-Camera-Body-Rare-Russian-ARRIFLEX-16-/272183791532?hash=item3f5f6b0fac:g:6MwAAOSwB4NWywx2 http://www.ebay.com/itm/Konvas-1m-Russian-35mm-movie-camera/361508887641?_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D36188%26meid%3D36d99c4c1a5c43dcb9afad67dbb73f09%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D4%26rkt%3D6%26sd%3D121882012376 http://www.ebay.com/itm/ARRIFLEX-ARRI-16-S-B-GS-16mm-FILM-CAMERA-BODY-/262349651275?hash=item3d1541fd4b:g:7C4AAOSwP~tW4RCs

I made an affordable 8v battery for my Konvas 1-KCP using NiMh cells picked off of eBay : https://aapolettinen.blogspot.com/b/post-preview?token=rzYJvEcBAAA.55i9J13eyhYWCBKkzH1YZg.n-gZF7DeDmyp0JYjlY338g&postId=389739504158150991&type=POST#!/2014/08/making-simple-nimh-battery-for-konvas.html The same procedure can be used for making a oddball voltage battery for any type of camera or equipment

Hi guys! I’m currently in the pre-production stage on a project that I am planning on shooting this coming summer. It’s a music video that follows a group of people with emphasis on one of them and her experience and discoveries about herself during their stay at a music festival over the course of about ten days during the summer vacation. I’ve been toying with this idea for some time now and I’ve realized that I really want to shoot this on film. I really feel that film is the way to go, both in the way I would end up working and also in the end result. I really think a slightly soft and grainy and warm and beautiful S16/U16 (or perhaps even 35) Kodak Vision look would suit the subject matter very well. This is where I need your help. I am looking for a robust and light camera system that, if 16mm, would easily convert to Super or Ultra 16, preferably hand cranked, although this is not a requisite as long as the system has interchangeable batteries that last long and can be charged from a standard 220V socket as I will be staying with the group the entire time with limited access to electricity. A hand cranked camera would probably be a better option. I already own an H-16 Rx that I have some experience with, however it is not ideal considering I limit myself to Rx lenses and 100’ magazine and a viewfinder I’m not super fan of; too small and too dim imo. Basically, what I’m after: A light and portable S/U16 camera 400’ magazine preferably seeing as I will be shooting a lot of slowmo 24-48 fps Hand cranked is a plus Turret mount is a plus That being said … I have also been toying with the idea of shooting 35mm. I’ve seen several labs that scan 35 at a lower price than 16. Difference in the price of film isn’t that big either. Something like a Konvas looks almost perfect for what I’m after. The only problem being that it maxes out at 32fps and I’m not too familiar with old Soviet electronics. 3-perf would be more ideal than 4. I’d really appreciate some input and help from you fine people here ^^

Used optically correct ANAMORPHIC VIEWFINDER for mounting on Optical viewfinder cameras like KONVAS 35mm motion Picture camera. Starting price is only $90 UN-squeezes image from anamorphic lens. Focusable for image of 35mm frame size from approx.3"-6" from end of front element. Eyepiece glass and front end clean WITH NO scratches or marks. Removable locking collar for connection to Konvas cameras. Tested and works fine on Camera ITEM is being sold inexpensively as only guaranteed to work with KONVAS style russian type viewfinders 'as is' A new collar could possibly be moved, removed or adapted to match other optical eyepiece cameras such as ARRI BL or others. Cannot guarantee fit but discussion from others have indicated that end shaft diameter would fit many other optical viewfinder prism or mirror mounts. With right mount it might also work with electronic viewfinders. being sold on ebay here http://www.ebay.com/...984.m1555.l2649 for any more info send email to info at alamofilms dawt com
