  4. RocketJump Film School, an online filmmaking community started by YouTube sensation Freddie Wong, has partnered with Vitec Videocom, the Broadcast Division of The Vitec Group, to educate a new generation of filmmakers and content creators with top-of-the-line production equipment, including Videocom’s NAB 2016 product offerings. As a sponsor of the school, Videocom has supplied RocketJump with professional production gear from industry-leading brands, including Sachtler, OConnor, Litepanels, Anton/Bauer, Paralinx, SmallHD, and Autocue. Headed by Dean Lauren Haroutunian with creative producer Cherish Chen and director/editor Joey Scoma, RocketJump Film School provides unique, engaging, high-quality online video tutorials on all facets of filmmaking from directing, editing and sound, to cinematography, screenwriting, and more. Launched in May 2015, the film school delivers free, readily accessible content to help ambitious students improve their familiarity with every element of filmmaking, including the equipment. The online format has been overwhelmingly popular and boasts over 200,000 subscribers with close to 10 million views since it began. “A core tenet of the film school is offering easy-to-follow demonstrations that ultimately encourage and promote hands-on experience. Having Vitec Videocom as a sponsor makes this a reality for us and has opened up more possibilities in shaping the school, both on and offline,” said Haroutunian. “Their support makes our mission of creating an empowering community for contemporary filmmakers all the more attainable.” Best-in-class brands from Videocom are contributing first-rate equipment for this sponsorship, including bestselling industry staples like the OConnor 1030 system, as well as new product offerings that will be featured at NAB 2016 such as the new Astra Soft Bi-Color LED and the new Anton/Bauer CINE series batteries. Sachtler and OConnor are delivering various tripods and fluid heads, including the 1030 system which delivers seamless transitions from heavier to lighter payload camera set-ups. For lighting, RocketJump will also be using Litepanels Astra 1x1 LED panels in addition to the Astra Soft Bi-Color LED, powered by Anton/Bauer’s new CINE series batteries. Paralinx is providing a Triton and Arrow-X, which offer uncompressed wireless video transmission up to 300ft and 700ft, respectively. And for ultimate convenience, Autocue is contributing portable iPad prompters, while SmallHD is contributing 501 on-camera monitor production kits. “We are thrilled to be a part of RocketJump Film School,” said Tobias Keuthen, Director, Global Products, Vitec Videocom. “We’ve been big fans of RocketJump for a long time so when we were given a chance to support their education endeavors we jumped at the opportunity. This allows us to be at the forefront of partnering and educating a whole new generation of filmmakers and aspiring cinematographers. I cannot think of a better place to learn new techniques using some of the industry’s best equipment.” Watch Freddie Wong talk about RocketJump Film School:

  7. I own two Sachtler tripod systems, but both were purchased as used gear (lacking supporting docs with their acquisition). Exploring Sachtler's web pages and downloadable docs, I see nothing on doing basic servicing and adjustments. I have leg locks beginning to slip on a carbon-fiber, 3 stage system. I'm cautious about making adjustments without prior advice, as carbon fiber can easily be damaged. Can anyone point me to existing information on making these clamp adjustments? Four images attached. Thanks. Grant.
  8. I'm selling my Sachtler Cine 30 HD with 150mm ball, tie down, Sachtler arri standard sideload plate, and right side pan arm. I'm the original owner, it's only 2 years old and has never been a rental. The head is in perfect working condition. I just got it back from a service/cleaning checkup. Some minor cosmetic dings which I can document in pictures. This is a great heavy duty head that can handle a large payload but is relatively light. The side-loading plate makes this my preferred Sachtler head. Price now only $6000 PM or email for pictures or with questions. As you can see it's over 9K new.... www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/433828-REG/Sachtler_3006_3006_Cine_30_HD.html Will take Paypal (buyer pays fees) or secure bank transfer Thanks! 10. Hey guys, I am wanting to purchase the Kessler Pocket Jib for my 5D Mark III. I am ordering a Sachtler ace accessories (matte box, follow focus and base plate) for my Sachtler Ace M tripod. Now, the crane only lets 100mm heads into the bowl, but the Sachtler head of mine is only 75mm. So is it possible to use the Sachtlers base plate and slide it into a 100mm Manfrotto head so I can still use all the accessories? Thanks!!
  11. Hello everyone, So.. I have just bought an Arri SR3 super 16, it's 7kg with 400ft loaded mag. So including lens, video assist, and matte box it's looking like being 10kg. I have about £500 for tripod and head, but I could poss pay a bit more for a real bargain. I've been looking at these below, but I it's difficult to make any decision when I can't find the specs of these and others.. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VINTEN-PRO-TOUCH-130-professional-heavy-duty-tripod-plus-carry-case-/291173729345?pt=UK_Tripods_Monopods&hash=item43cb4e8441 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vinten-Avocet-90-tripod-fluid-head-better-than-sachtler-video-professional-/281358665972?pt=UK_Tripods_Monopods&hash=item41824888f4 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CARTONI-ALFA-100mm-Fluid-Head-single-stage-tripod-with-middle-spreader-/291174640846?pt=UK_Tripods_Monopods&hash=item43cb5c6cce So my questions: Would you recommend any of these for an SR3? When a tripod spec states it's max load, is that with some kind of built-in safe guard or is it's optimum use is with less weight than the stated maximum? Would using a tripod at it's maximum load damage the tripod? Do you tend to get better deals buying a tripod-head together or separate? Obviously, if anyone has or knows of anyone with a suitable tripod and head for sale let me know. Thanks a lot, Greg

  15. Eching, Germany (March 19, 2014) - Sachtler, part of Vitec Videocom, a Vitec group company, has redeveloped its Ace L fluid head to make it compatible with all types of sliders. The Ace L 75mm tripod head can now be conveniently converted to a flat base, through the removal of a bottom screw, and mounted on a range of sliders. The Ace L is extremely versatile with a payload range of up to 6 kilograms and can be used with three different carbon fibre tripods - the floor spreader, mid-level spreader or telescopic tripod system. The slider functionality was incorporated into the Ace L fluid head based on customer feedback. "The Ace L is a popular product and is particularly well suited to use with DSLR cameras. By adding the slider capability, our customers are now receiving a more efficient product with added versatility and functionality," says Barbara Jaumann, product manager, Sachtler. By now being compatible with sliders, the Ace L allows camera operators to pan easily and accurately during filming without having to switch between fluid heads for different settings. The premium quality Ace L features the seven-step counter balance, patented SAdrag, and illuminated level indicator, and ensures precise and smooth camera operation. All Ace L headers from 2014 onwards will feature this slider compatibility. The Ace L's new capability will be showcased at this year's NAB show in Las Vegas in April at booth #C6025.
