SmallHD 1703 HDR

There is a small paint chip on the side and a small scratch in the screen protector but it is basically a new monitor. Monitor is $4000 new, and I have $764 worth of accessories. VFgadget vesa mount = $214 Gold mount battery Kit = $250 Anti reflective screen impact protector = $150 Sun hood = $150 Asking $3,500 And I will include the Pelican 1560 case I keep it in. This SmallHD 702 Bright is brand new and in the box. The box has never been opened. As such the monitor is still covered under SmallHD's warranty. The 702 Bright is an incredibly bright, on camera, monitor that allows camera operators or 1st ACs to see the screen in daylight without a sun-hood. Which if you've ever tried pulling focus off of a Shogun, or some such monitor/recorder that has a really low nit count, in the daylight it's a disaster. The 702 has really convenient features that make life on set a lot easier. In addition to the brightness the 702 natively takes Sony BP style batteries as well as Canon LP-E6 batteries. The 702 is also able to receive SDI and put out through HDMI, or vice versa, if you ever had that need. In a lot of ways it's a really versatile monitor that's worth taking a look at. SmallHD 502 or Atomos Shogun Inferno?????
Kendrick Gray posted a topic in General DiscussionI currently own a Sony FS5 and in 2 years I plan to upgrade to something more cinema like I suppose. Either that or a higher end Sony camera. Im in a in monitor dilemma. Between the two in the title, I want something that will last me through this camera to the next. The FS5 produces XAVC which I'm ok with quality wise. I usually transcode to prores to edit. But sometimes I find transcoding annoying. If I were to deal with that at least I'd have a nice monitor that allows me to use luts etc. With the Inferno I have the option for raw,prores,and dnxhd. Now... Do higher end cameras these days have options like this? Is it typical most of the time? If I were to upgrade to a camera that has these options the Inferno would be a waste of money. Or do money with reds, arris etc still use recorders?
Vitec Group Acquires SmallHD

SmallHD was officially founded in 2009 by Wes Phillips and Dale Backus. The pair, along with a group of friends, had been creating spots for local businesses and entered the Doritos-sponsored Crash The Super Bowl contest with a spot entitled Live the Flavor. The resulting notoriety from winning brought national work in for the team. The demand to complete increasingly higher-calibre work made the SmallHD creatives and production crew aware of a need for better tools. Rather than buying off-the-shelf solutions, they were inspired to create them, specifically field monitors. The DP6 field monitor, their first mainstream product, not only met their own high standards but was immediately sought after by other filmmakers. When SmallHD won an unprecedented second Doritos Crash The Super Bowl challenge in 2010, the company used the winnings to develop its product line and expand manufacturing operations.
