  1. Hello all, Thanks for clicking. I have a complete Steadicam Flyer LE with all original parts and soft case. Gave my efforts in learning, decided it wasn't for me. Asking $4000 for the rig. Free shipping.
  2. I am looking to buy the following Archer2 (V-mount) G-50 or G-50X arm Exovest Cheers Fabian
  3. I didn't want to create an account on the steadicam forums for this one question, so thought I would bring it here to start off with. I'm focus pulling on an Arri 416 super 16mm shoot this month, and the DOP has told me that there will be some low mode steadicam shots. The rental house told me that the camera being upside down wouldn't be a problem, I have read on other sources that the film potentially could get scratched if the camera is held upside down. I'd rather avoid any problems, so I was wondering if anyone knew of a low mode bracket for the 416? Or a general bracket for all cameras, to allow the camera to be mounted to the steadicam plate using the top handle, to avoid spinning the camera upside down for the low mode filming.
  4. Selling a MoVI M10 system. $7,200 Please email joel@jasonlindsey.com if interested or if you have any questions. Attached is a pdf of what is included and pictures as well. Thank you! MoVI-M10-ForSale 1.pdf MoVI-M10-ForSale 2.pdf MoVI-M10-ForSale 3.pdf
  5. Hey all, sorry for the novice question but I've seen a few times where someone will be holding a screen next to or behind the steadicam operator. What is the purpose of this? It doesn't appear to be affecting light from what I can tell. I've attached a BTS pic from The Intern as an example. Thanks!

  8. I don't have or own a GoPro 4 Black Edition. But I've seen some pretty amazing quality both videos and pictures this thing can do. I really don't know nothing about cameras but would like to start, perhaps with the GoPro. I would like to get some others opinion about this camera? Likes and don't likes. If I go with this camera, I would like to add two things to it, one is a shotgun mic, and some kind of Steadicam that will work with a shotgun mic attached. (it doesn't have to be a Steadicam brand). What's a good brand for a shotgun mic for a GoPro, and what's a good "Steadicam"? I don't want one with weights because I never had any luck with those. Does anyone agree, by this picture, "Bangbros" -PublicBang..."cough"....that this was used with a GoPro? If so, what settings you think were used to get such a great final footage?
  9. Hey Guys, I've been tasked to pull focus for a short film that consists of one 12-minute Steadicam shot. The director wants to use only natural light and practicals, in addition to shooting wide open on an Arri/Zeiss Master Prime 18 mm lens. Do you guys have any suggestions on how I can achieve the best results? Thanks Sam
  10. Hello all, A little back story: I just completed the first week of shooting on a 1 hour episodic television show. Our usual setup is 3 Alexa classics; "A" camera, "B" camera, and a "C" camera/steadicam. Our steadicam body has always been dedicated to that rig, and unless one of the other cameras breaks, we never really press it into service in any other capacity. This is nice, since it allows us to leave the rig mostly configured for the purpose of steadicam, and it can be built really quickly. About a week prior to prep, we found out that "they" wanted to use an Alexa mini as our "C" body this year, to be used on steadicam, and also to be converted for special use when required- handheld inside of cars, hood mounts, etc.... We were all a bit thrown off by this, since we've been using the other cameras for 4 previous seasons, and we know the setup very well. Production didn't give us any additional time to prep (we get 2 days to prep for 22 eight day episodes), and we left the rental house with an Alexa mini that really didn't work for our intended purpose. Some of our issues included the lack of a run/stop cable for preston, lack of camera control without the eyepiece attached, awkward position of the media access door which is blocked by the Arri rod-mounted anton bauer plate (BAP-1), and that the camera weighed too little overall for our steadicam operators liking. I think a lot of advantage comes from the use of the integrated Arri 3 channel handset/MDR, however it wasn't available at the time of prep, and I am not sure they will pay for an additional remote unit, when there are already two other Preston FI+Z's on the show. How are some of you handling the Alexa mini? It seems to me that it lacks a lot of the built-in functionality and ergonomics that are so nice with the other cameras in the line. Has anyone configured it for a studio camera or steadicam body with good success? Thanks in advance for any info.

It's shipping now on my website: http://mediablackout.net/product/intersex-plate/ This plate allows you to do several things, including: Attach a field recorder, like the BlackMagic Hyperdeck Shuttle, to an unused battery plate on a Steadicam Attach a Teradek Bolt or Paralinx Tomahawk / Arrow-X to a camera’s unused battery plate when used on a Steadicam or Gimbal (Freefly Movi, DJI Ronin, etc.) allowing builds to stay lower Clamp two Intersex Plates together to secure accessories that have no mounting points, like a Decimator AJA Mini Converter, etc. DITs can mount the Intersex Plate to a VESA 75 compatible stand or arm on their cart as a quick disconnect to allow small to medium sized monitors to mount and unmount easily and quickly Can be use to attach a V-mount and Gold Mount battery plates to iris rods The Intersex Plate can be used for so much more! 16. This just-released video by Sia is already being called by some the Best Video of 2014. And to be sure, it is really good. The choreography, the lighting. . .and the song isn't bad either. I'm looking to get others' opinions on how it's shot and edited, though. There seems to be something a little 'off' with these. In my opinion, Beyonce's "Single Ladies" is probably the best exercise in mixing camera movement along with choreography and creative lighting, as well as creative/appropriate editing. I was stunned when I first saw it, and am challenged/inspired as a photographer (and steadicam and jib operator) by it to this day. Some might not think comparing the two videos is 'fair', because of various factors like shooting on set v shooting on location, the genres of music, or what the directors were trying to accomplish. But being that dance and choreography are the main elements in both videos, I think it's fair, if just for example's sake. This video seems to be a little Videography 102: Get your wides, tights, and mids by cutting; and edit only for continuity of motion. Asking myself What would I do differently, I don't believe the video has to be a 'one take', but I would make a lot more use out of zoom, and move around a lot more, also trying to keep the dancer in-frame more, particularly on the closer shots. With editing, maybe there's a few 'rules' that should be broken. That's all I can say without getting gratuitous. I want to emphasize that I think this is good video (wouldn't be surprised if it won some awards), but would like some input from some of you in the know.
  17. I'd love it if someone could give me some feedback on my music video. I'm particularly interested in feedback about the lighting, but I'm also open to criticism about every other aspect as I directed, edited, graded & operated it (basically everything!). Please be harsh as my film school doesn't provide enough specific feedback and it's quite frustrating. https://vimeo.com/92735441

  21. Need a steadicam operator for a film with the Marine Corps. Need to be in excellent physical condition (that is probably redundant). Will be shooting with EPIC cameras. Rough desert terrain during live fire exercises. Might have to be self sufficient for and hour or more at a time. Similar requirements for the AC. Experience in similar military/action situations preferred. Reel. First shoot 3rd week of January. Contact Brad Ohlund bohlund@macfreefilms.com 949 494 1055.

  24. Inspired by devinsupertramp, a Youtuber, and his amazing steadicam operation skills, I threw a small event together so I could film it and practice the technique. Now I'm looking for honest and professional feedback. I would like to improve my cinematography skills so please be as critical as you wish. I used a Glidecam 2000 HD, but if anyone else has a better recommendation, I'm all ears.
