Hi there, Everyone in this group was probably very sad when Aaton stopped making cameras. And I for one really wished they would have stayed on, now I was never able to work when they were active (because I was too young), but learning about all their cameras now brings some tears to my eyes not knowing they exist. However I am a bit curious. I know that there were made 6 (I have read 8 even) final versions of the Penelope Delta, that was sold to rental houses in the world. I have been looking everywhere if it would be possible to rent any one them, but I can't seem to find anything. The dream would be to get my hands on one to buy (even though the prices has skyrocketed since it is a collectors thing now), but I could settle for just being able to work with it once. Anyone that has any leads on where to get my hands on one? And possibly even in the West Coast of the US? C

Hey Guys, I've recently become the proud owner of an Aaton XTR Prod, however the camera unfortunately has a few items missing, which i'd like to acquire. With that said, i'm on the lookout for original Aaton accessories including: - Walnut handgrip & cable - 2x screw in 15mm rods (short) - Heated eyepiece cable As the purchase of the camera used up a fair amount of my budget, i'm looking for reasonable prices, however I completely understand that these are getting harder to come by, so happy to play fair. I also have a few accessories that I don't think i'll be needing - such as the Origin timecode device, that i'd be happy to swap if people are searching for one (tend to slate anyway). I'm based in the U.K, if that helps too. Thanks! Nick Lee-Shield www.nicholasleeshield.com

Hi everyone, first post, long time lurker. I recently bought an Aaton LTR-7 and have just ran my first test film, the result is as follows: https://vimeo.com/210062910 (Excuse my great readings...) We shot with a standard 16mm Angénieux 12-120mm but recorded to super16 as we knew the long end of the lens would cover the s16 frame and wanted to see the extent of the vignettes. What we were not expecting were the red light leaks that crop up on both sides but more so the right side of the frame... I wonder if there any tell tell signs to this type of light leak? I did the S16 conversion myself via instructions from http://cinematography.net/edited-pages/Aaton16mmRegtoSuper.htm - I have a sneaking suspicion the leak could be from where the viewfinder seats on to the top of the camera, I had to move the 'wedge' over and reseat the VF to complete the s16 conversion.. I would love to know your thoughts, - Francis

Hello. I'm wondering if anyone knows the thread size of the rods that usually came with the XTR prod. I am trying to find 15mm rods with male threading via Chrosziel, Zacuto, etc but am unsure if there is simply a 'standard' thread size or if the XTR Prod rods had a 'proprietary' thread size. Alternatively, if anyone knows of any sources to get replacement rods for this camera (assuming the threading isn't something I can find), that would be helpful. Thanks, - Aaron

AATON XTR SER1352 As time goes by my Ground Glass is no longer centered in the frame it has slipped downward as I look into the eyepiece. Is there something I can do to adjust it "upward" I have also noticed that when the top line of the ground glass is in focus the bottom is a little out. Is there an easy way to adjust the ground glass back to factory setting without sending it away for service? I have a shoot this Tuesday and I'd like to fix it if possible Thanks in advance.

Hi everyone, i recently have been working with an Aaton XTR Prod camera, and the footage has light leak stripes. I wonder if someone had the same issue with this camera? Stripes have frequency, moving from bottom to the top of frame, which makes me think there is light hitting the film after the gate. My first thought was not properly attached magazine. Any other ideas?

Hello everyone, i wonder if there is someone who knows of rentals or camera owners in Scotland who have 16mm equipment. Arri SR, 416 or Aaton would do it. I'm going to Edinburgh in July for a film shoot but the budget is tight and bringing everything from London is also an issue. Any suggestions or comments would be highly appreciated. Thanks, Arseni

Hey! Interested in a Super 16 Ikonoskop A-Cam SP 16 and/or an Aaton A-Minima. Let me know. Thanks

Hi! I recently got a Arri 416 so I've decided to sell my Aaton A-minima kit (I can't have it all, haha). It's ex-rental and was inspected by Aaton themselves before I bought it at beginning of 2015. Batteries have new cells. Everything works just perfect except for the built in light meter dome that I choose to not have Aaton fix since it's more of a gimmick then a useful feature in my opinion. Would prefer a Eu-sale, but I may ship world wide depending on the circumstances. Pick up in Stockholm, Sweden would be great :) Great kit to pick up and start shooting. Contact me if you're seriously interested and we'll take it from there regarding price etc. Best regards/Kalle Folke, Sweden www.kallefolke.se List of the kit: 1x Aaton A-Minima 1x PAL b/w video assist 3x magazines with covers 1x Aaton Cha-3 charger with cables 2x A-Minima batteries (new cells) 1x top-handle 1x Aaton power base 2x rods for power base ca 2,5tum 2x rods for power base ca 5tum 1x manual 2x extra rubberbands for eyepiece 1x cover for video assist port Cables: 1x 4-pin lemo - 4-pin xlr 1x 4-pin xlr male-female 1x long start/stop-cable lemo-lemo 1x "super long" start/stop-kabel with switch 1x start/stop-kabel for top-handle Also empty spools and film cans for re-spooling of film.

For sell a Zeiss SuperSpeed 9.5mm T1.3 S16, a great luminous wide angle cine lens. I sell it because i search a zoom instead of primes. Price is 900 Euros + shipping. Regarding the state of the optics there is no mushroom / fungus / dust inside. There are slight "cleaning marks" on the glass, as well on the front and rear element, obviously not affecting the image. But there is no claw or crack on the glass. I bought it for a French DP who took great care. Cosmetically really in good condition, the paint and the numbers / lettering are there. The aperture ring is very fluid, the focus ring is less fluid, a little harder, but it doesen't affect the focus at all, change focus is easy. Super Speeds are among the best Super 16 lens and they have been used on many feature films. The resulting image is still impressive today. This is a test that I realized with the Blackmagic Pocket: https://vimeo.com/129887125 I am at your disposal for any additional questions, optic can be seen in Belgium. The lens is Arri Bayonet mount, also i sell the adapter Arri Bayonet to MFT from Ciecio7 for 90 euros extra. This adapter is one of the best available adapter and is shimmable: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Arri-Bayonet...-/251176724708

I am looking to purchase a Aaton XTR Plus, but I cannot find one. The only one I have found is one in LA but I have questions about its past as the seller says: "I am not a filmmaker and don't know....." it sounds like stolen kit to me. So back to my point, would anyone be able to help me on my way to finding one of these cameras. Thanks.

Thought I'd post a short film I finished a short while back. I wanted to text a batch of 64D I had in the fridge while working with a new DP and lab. (Video and Film Solutions, Rockville, MD). Rather than film a roll,of my hometown I adapted a dream my friend had into a quick micro short film about the end of the world. Really pleased with the outcome and don't know why more shorts aren't filed inSuper 16. Tech info: Aaton XTR ZEISS Super Speed MKI FUJI 64D Lab and transfer: Video and a Film Solutions Thank you for watching

Hi All, Thanks in advance to anyone that may be able to help me out here. I will be shooting a feature next month with my Aaton LTR and may have a television playing in a shot. The shutter in the LTR is fixed, however, I do have a speed controller (Media Logic, I believe). I was wondering how I might be able to avoid any flickering, pulsing, or rolling in the image. I'm not sure if the speed controller gadget will help me out here or not. I'm in the US at 60HZ. Any solutions are very much appreciated. All the best, Jeff

Hi! I'm getting more serious about shooting a documentary on s16mm film. Since I often work alone on personal projects I was exited to learn about AatonCode. I'm about to get a Aaton A-minima. I tested it last week with my timecode synced audio recorder, only to later discover that my local lab don't have a Aaton code reader on their new scanner. I really wan't to use that lab, because one of my motivations to shoot film is to contribute (in a very small, but at least symbolical way) to keeping film alive. I wanted to ask anyway if there are some labs in Europe that offers Aaton code service? Maybe I could use it for some rolls if really needed... Any other recommendations on how to handle audio sync when alone would also be appreciated. I've had some ideas… - To have a mic attached to the mag, recorded on a separate track. Then I could listen to the audio (or watch the waveform) to see "ok, that's the third time the mag is running… must be shot three…". Then sync by eye. - Start each shot by filming the lcd on my audio recorder that can display timecode and also flash a led at each second. Only downside is I'd need to start with close focus and also be delayed when trying to frame the subject to be ready for the "moment" I want to capture. - Almost like above, but instead reach with my left hand info the frame with my timecode generator that also has a lcd displaying the timecode. What do you think? Thank you!

Hi! I'm looking for a used Aaton A-minima. All offers considered, but if possible I'd like a kit with the following: 3-4mags, powerbase, wooden handgrip, batteries and charger, blimp, top handle, PAL video assist. EU sale preferred if possible. Sadly for any seller I've seen that the prices for A-minimas have gone down quite a lot… but if you sell to me you'll at least know that it will be loved and used :) Looking forward to hear from you! Take care/Kalle, Sweden (contact info at www.kallefolke.se)

Hey there, first of all, I'm a total beginner when it comes to shooting film, using film cameras. I bought an Aaton XTR off ebay (I know, risky!) with the intention of learning how to shoot film and eventually shooting more film. So, considering I don't know much yet (I have a DP-friend who regularly shoots film), I encountered the following: after plugging in the battery, the LCD display seems to malfunction. It keeps displaying some weird signs as opposed to proper numbers. Now I don't know if that's my fault (eg. if I'm doing anything wrong) or if it's the camera. I'll have the camera serviced in a couple of weeks anyway, just wanted to check if I it might have to be repaired and if I have to expect to put an extra bunch of money into it. Attached is a picture of the LCD display. Maybe one of you can help me out? Thanks in advance!
