  1. Hello Guys, I am looking for an Arriflex SR on board Battery with holder; Would an Aaton LTR on board Battery work on an SR for testing? Would someone guide me, to where can I Find a cable made for Arriflex SR with the right polarity to use on a Cine 60 Belt, or on a standard 12v Bescor Battery. Schematics are explained on John Fauer 16SR User Guide. However I'd rather try to find the cable already made. Thank you all in advance!
  2. Hey there, about to buy a late Aaton LTR 7. The camera has been converted to S16, but the mags haven't. Instead of having them expensively converted to S16 as well, could I use the camera with an XTR Prod 400' DX S16 magazine? I could get that for $200, that's why I'm asking about the mag compatibility of the LTR. Any help is highly appreciated.
  3. Hello everyone! I've done quite some research about the different Aaton LTR 54s, but still I would love to hear your thoughts about this particular one and it's associated price. I'm about to buy an Aaton LTR 54 (#897). So it's an early LTR 54 which was converted from 16mm to Super 16. It features 32fps Top Speed, Mechanical Drive for Mags, Optional Light Meter, Optional Relay optics for VR 30 tube tap. It was owned by a professional director of photography and comes with a few accessories. In 2010 it was serviced for the last time so I'm expecting to have it serviced again quite soon. The price for the complete kit is $3000. My questions are: (1) I'm a young director/filmmaker. Like many of us, almost all of my jobs are done using digital cameras. However, from time to time I am doing more personal projects (shorts, docs) and I'd love to have a S16 camera to experiment. E.g. I'm not planning to use the camera on any paid jobs. However, I don't have anything planned as of yet. Now would you rather wait and only buy the camera once I have a project or would you seriously consider buying it right now since the price makes it quite attractive. (2) Any names/houses that offer to service the camera in EUROPE? Thanks a lot for your help, Alex

  6. Hello, I am a film student working with the A-Minima for the first time, we are renting the equipment from outside the school so I'm trying to find answers about a few problems we've had with the camera. We've had two jams- one about 100ft into the roll, where the film wrapped around the camera at least 8 times ruining about 15ft of film. The second, in the very beginning of the roll the film broke off and none of the film advanced. We heard the first jam happen, but the second we did not. Wondering what might have caused this problem? When we took off the mag to reload after our second jam, the magazine would not snap back onto the camera. I've read a number of threads where people have mentioned the hastle of loading and threading the A-Minima, but none with specific problems. Does anyone have an idea of what might be wrong? And how to tell if the film isn't advancing? Thank you!
  7. Hi, I have a couple of questions for our next (student) short we will be shooting in the first half of April. At first we wanted to go 16mm (anamorphic), but it's quiet expensive for us. And wide angle anamorphic is a problem with 16mm. We're still thinking about it though. But it's probably going to be the digital way. Now the short is about half and half daylight and nighttime. Probably a bit more at daylight. We're thinking about renting a Red-epic since it's a lot cheaper (than an Alexa). But I'm a bit "scared" for the nighttime shots with the epic. We will be passing neon street lights, in car shots which can get pretty dark, etc. What do you think? Will it be ok? Second question is about post production. We love the (16mm) celluloid organic look, and specially for this film. We were wondering how this is professionally emulated/achieved. Are there a couple of ways? I add professionally since we were thinking about festivals etc. (I read somewhere that adding a random grainy look is okay for youtube videos but not for more serious stuff.) Thanks ahead,

  9. Hello, I have a question about Hawk-Woods MDV Link system. I have a 16mm camera which requires a 12v 5-7A power source with 4-pin XLR out. At the moment I'm using a sealed acid motorbike battery, but it's heavy and it takes ages to charge it. The question is: can I use a Hawk-Woods DV-F970 LLithium-Ion Battery ( which is 7.2V 47W 6600mA) and Hawk-Woods DV-XLRR MDV 12V Step-Up Power Adaptor to power the camera? I'm not really good at electricity, please help me. Thank you.
