hello everyone, The Bolex EBM can only be powered with 12V. If my V-lock plate isn’t regulated for 12v but my cable powering the Bolex from that plate is regulated 12v, would that be okay ? Or does both need to be 12v regulated. Additionally and most importantly, any tips on rigging a bolex EBM with power + a rec and stop button ? Looking at all the options, but can't find many. Thanks !

Hi all, I wanted to share what I've done with my Bolex EBM regarding the battery and maybe help any other people out there. I've done a lot of searching online, but I realised I would love to power it from a V lock type battery, for ease of use. I purchased a SmallRig battery plate (SmallRig Battery Adapter Plate 3204). I went for this one as it wasn't too expensive and after sending them an email, confirmed that the outputs on the plate are regulated (as the Bolex EBM requires 12V). Another benefit of this plate is that it has a power button, meaning the you don't need to get a cable with a switch to power on/off the camera. The button makes it much cleaner too. The plate was screwed on the back of the camera. This required a bit of modding and making the existing holes on the back of the camera a bit bigger (took me 3 minutes to do this). I made a custom cable, using a simple 5.5mm x 2.5mm DC barrel plug, and a Amphenol Tuchel connector (T 3475 005). Pin 3 is +12V and pin 4 is ground. This connector is really well made and fits perfectly with the camera, worth it in my opinion. Once the cable was made, I simply plugged it into the 12V output on the plate, and the camera works perfectly. Currently I'm planning on adding a small monitor and a small video assist as well, which will both be powered from the 12V outputs on the battery itself with a Dtap cable. The only drawback with this method is that you in reality need to use a video tap, as the viewfinder is blocked by the battery/plate. With a smaller plate and battery, it could have probably been avoided. So far I'm quite happy with this setup!

Is it possible to power an ARRI SR I/II with 14.8v gold mount batteries? I understand the voltage would need to be converted to a regulated 12v, but even then is it posing a risk? I happened upon this plate: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/839205-REG/Movecam_MOV_306_0208_BATTERY_BRACKET_FOR_GOLD.html I would have to use a 3-pin male LEMO to 4-pin XLR cable to take advantage of the regulated 12v output. Is that possible, or would it pose problems? Any insight would be dearly appreciated, as I'm quite uneducated when it comes to power supplies. Thank you!

Hey everyone, I recently purchased an Eclair NPR off of eBay and I've got some questions about it. I'm trying to find a battery solution for it. I've read through other posts and I see that there are a lot of different routes I could go. So far I've been looking at this: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1048193-REG/bescor_fp_12vatm_12v_lithium_ion_battery.html as well as this: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/126161-REG/Cool_Lux_BC3054_BC_3054_Battery_Belt_LCE.html. I would love to hear everyones thoughts on these! My second question is about a piece of gear that came with the camera. It was in a pouch labeled "Video Tap" and when I opened it up the only thing in there was this weird viewfinder. I attached some pictures of it. There's no markings or writing on it that tell me what it is or what company it is. If anyone knows please let me know!

Hello, I just got an order of Litemats Spectrum 1 and 2. I also got a single gold mount battery plate to PL4 to power those litemats on Battery. My question is: How would you power such a light off a gold mount battery? What would be the minimum requirements of that battery to be able to turn on the light? I know it is possible since the accessory is sold by Litegear themselves in order to power the Litemat 1 and 2 Spectrum via a single Gold-mount battery... I'm asking since I tried using a 160WH 14.8v and the light won't turn on. (I would use those batteries to successfully power the Litemat 1 & 2 bicolor PLUS versions) Here are the litedimmer spectrum specs: (I feel like it's missing output current info. AKA: Amperage required for the light to work) SPECIFICATIONS (IMPERIAL/METRIC) POWER RATING: 200W Nominal VOLTAGE INPUT*(BATTERY): 10~35VDC (PL4 Connector) 14.4 VDC Nominal (One Battery) For LED Loads up to 100W LINK FOR THE DIMMER AND LIGHT Document center: https://www.litegear.com/document-center/ (Find Litedimmer Spectrum user guide) Thank you for your help!

HI All - I have an old Beaulieu 5008s I bought used back about 1983. I used it a few times, but then it's sat in a closed case for the past 30 or so years. Battery's completely dead and won't charge. I've been looking around to see if anyone can recell the battery or if there's a DIY page that explains it, but haven't found anything so far, and the leads on this site are all fairly old. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks! Tim Walton

Hi! I have been looking for a new 16mm battery for my Eclair ACL2, but no luck. My old battery is in the picture attached. I have tried this type DC 12V 4800mAh Super Rechargeable Portable Lithium-ion: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics , doesn't work at all. And this one 12V DC Rechargeable Li-ion Battery Pack for CCTV Camera: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics which works only up to 25fps, the camera stops working at 50 and 75fps. It seems to be a lack of strength. Any tips to help me finding an appropriate battery? I still have a few BW cans in my fridge! Thanks for your time! Luca

I've got +/- 40 cheaper gold mount batteries, Ikan IB-L130A, 14.8V 9.0 Ah 130Wh in my inventory. They're in good shape as far as the battery cells, but the outside cases are getting beat up and cracked. Ikan doesn't have spare/loose cases for this model anymore. Does anyone know of a generic case that I could re-home the cells into? Or maybe a 3d printed design that would work? I know it's a long shot. Just trying to keep the inventory functioning as long as possible.

I'm looking for a power source for my Eclair NPR 16mm camera and I think I'm starting to get a rough idea of what to look for (still open to suggestions tho) but one key question: does a higher frame rate require more volts? The manuals I've seen online suggest a 12 volt, 3-5 Amh battery to power the Perfectone motor but I've seen discussions about the motor stopping as soon as the FPS rate goes up. Someone who appeared more knowledgeable than myself said the higher frame rate would require higher voltage. Possibly up to 15 volts. However I've also read discussions where people warn against using a battery or power source that is rated higher than the suggested voltage for the motor. Any thoughts or experiences with this subject? Thanks

Has anyone tried making their own external power source for a Bauer 715? I recently rolled the dice on a relatively inexpensive Bauer 715 and the good news is that it does run. ...The bad news is that it only runs if I hold the battery compartment in the perfect position. One problem is that the white plastic "battery housing" or battery holder is missing so the batteries move around quite easily. I may have at least temporarily conquered that with some tape. Anyone familiar with Bauer 715 probably already knows that the lid for the battery compartment is broken and won't stay attached without some extra help. I could try ordering parts but I wonder if anyone has tried getting around these problems by simply creating an external battery belt or battery pack. This idea was actually suggested by an employee at the local hobby shop and it sounds easier to me than fussing around with spare parts. Looking inside the battery compartment it appears the first step to getting deeper inside the camera are 3 yellow/gold flat-head screws. I can get at them but they don't seem easily moved. Might they be glued in? The camera runs off of 6 AA batteries, so I think that means 9 volts are required. So maybe get a battery holder for 9 volts (holds 6AAs) and wire that into the camera once the contacts 9for the AA batteries are removed ??

Help Identifying Scoopic Connector
Adam Fox-Long posted a topic in Accessories (Deprecated SubForum)
Does anyone know what the external battery connector on the grey canon Scoopic is called or where I could find one? It has 4 pins but it's clearly not XLR -
I've been shooting on a K3 for the past year or so, and decided to pick up a Scoopic (Gray model). The camera definitely needs a CLA, but overall seems in decent condition. The main problem is power, which I understand is common with scoopics. It came with a battery and charger. The battery is charging now, though I'm assuming it will need to be recelled. I was curious as to what other options there are in terms of powering the camera. Specifically, I was wondering how simple it would be to make an external power source to connect to the four pin connector on the camera. I'm no electrical engineer, so I assume it would be more complicated than finding a 12V battery and soldering it to the proper cable. I've also seen some tutorials on making internal battery packs using 10 1.2V AA batteries, though they all seemed a little insecure to me. What goes into making an external power source for the camera, and what should I look for?

Hi, I hope someone can help answer a few questions. I just received a very mint condition looking Beaulieu 4008ZM with the Angenieux 8-64mm. This was won in an online live-bid auction a month or so ago (a large number of Super 8 cameras from a collector). It looks great but I don't have a clue if it works as it didn't come with a battery (not even a non-working one). Here is what I've discovered: - I can't see an image thru the viewfinder. From the posts I've read I am presuming it is because the shutter is in the down position. - I need to purchase some sort of battery. Looking on the Wittner website I saw the large Eneloop on-board battery. It is not cheap. Has anyone used this? Am I better getting a Dummy Socket, cable and external battery? Any particular system you would recommend? - The mirror retraction knob will not turn. While I do not plan on retracting the mirror I wonder why it would be so stiff. - The Three-position Power Supply switch is stuck in the "in" position. I can pull it out, with a little effort and using my fingernails. I can't seem to make it lock in the "lock" position. My guess is something is amiss. Is there supposed to be a spring-action or something like that? - I put the selector in the "Manual" position and try to manually zoom but it feels like the gears are still engaged. Is this because there is no power to the camera? - The camera did come with the filter key. Is there a way to tell, without burning a cartridge of film, if the Wratten filter is still good? - There is no foam or rubber gasket on the film door; is that the design? Thank you in advance for any advice. I live in Tokyo so having the camera checked out in Europe is not easy. I need to check with Retro 8 to see if they work on Beaulieu. I hope I can turn this into a viable camera; it is the camera I've dreamed of owning since I was 10 years old. Bruce

Hey! So I am really excited because I got my grandads BEAulieu 4008 ZMII for Christmas. The thing is that it hasnt been used in 15 years. He took great care of it but the batteries are not in great shape. Does anybody now about where and how to get new batteries? Or any good servicing in London as well to look over it? Any help will be appreciated. I have shot a ton on a Bolex but I'm new to 16mm! x

I just got a Photo Sonics 1VN (action master 200) in unknown condition and no batteries. What kind of battery (voltage/amps) the original uses inside the "shoulder mount" adapter which is supposedly meant for sports high speed filming? the battery case itself is there but the cells are removed. I am planning to fit NiMh cells there once I know the voltage and power needed. and, is there some of the original lubricants available anymore or some alternatives for the movement? I won't use it regularly even if I get it working but may have to use it in cold temperatures (about -20°C or so) . maybe a 200ft roll once a month or so...

Hey, I just bought an SRIII but it only came with one battery. Anyone know where I could pick up a couple more? Or, does anyone know someone who could make a small onboard that could plug into the 4-pin xlr? Looking for new, used, aftermarket, 3rd party, whatever. Cheers!
