I am producing a student short this summer, and it takes place in the late 90's. I was wondering if anyone could point me in the direction to see if we can use blockbuster. I've spoken to a few copyright lawyers the ones I can get to call me back, and they said since it is out of business we should be ok but they aren't sure. Does anyone know where I can go or who can talk to and find out for sure?

How technology affects production and distribution
Aaron Takhar posted a topic in General Discussion
Hi All, I am currently writing a business report on media production and distribution specifically focusing on the emergence of technology and online platforms and was wondering if you could answer a few questions relating to this subject area? 1. How significant a role has Alan Horn played in the current shape of tent-pole cinema? 2. How would you evaluate the demise of Blockbuster? 3. How important do you anticipate online funding platforms such as Kickstarter and Indie go-go be in the future of media production and distribution? 4. How significant a role does Netflix have in comparison to other distributors and distribution methods of media content? 5. Will cinema survive the current prominence of consumers being able to downloadable content? 6. Can technological advances work in conjunction with traditional production and distribution methods? 7. Does the employment of single sensor cameras in films mean that tv and movies are now parallel to each other? Thank you for your time.- 34 replies

This may be the silliest post ever but here goes... I was recently approached by a very successful Director and asked if I would be interested in shooting his next film. I've only been shooting for three years. I have shot broadcast commercials and brand videos mostly, never a feature. Part of me couldn't image why this question was asked of me in the first place. The project is absolutely NOT a small budget independent film. I guess he sees something he really likes, but how the heck could I know if I'm ready for something like that? Obviously a wide open topic and there's limited information I can give out but... Insights welcome.
